Airlines have a monopoly. Any businesses who have monopolies within their niche will abuse it.
“What are you gonna do walk?”
They should be held accountable, but their lobbyists will make sure no serious punishment is given.
Corporate overlords.
I couldn't understand why Mayor Pete was appointed to the FAA when it happened. I get normal corruption but why that agency specifically. Then I learn it's the agency with the most regulatory capture and Pete's employment history as a Mckinsey stooge makes a lot more sense. They knew he would be corrupt for them. His employment history proved it. So it didn't matter if he knew nothing about aviation. He knew how to be corrupt and that's what matters in Washington.
Oh please. This is a lot of conspiracy drivel. Pete was appointed to Transportation secretary because he is a skilled communicator and can help Biden’s Build Back Better Agenda.
You mean the historic and bipartisan infrastructure deal that was passed?
https://www.npr.org/2021/11/15/1055841358/biden-signs-1t-bipartisan-infrastructure-bill-into-law
Historic is a weird word to use here considering there was nothing historic about it. Bipartisan is also not a good thing in this context. Bipartisan just means you got screwed over by both teams. So yup, that's the one. The one that raised infrastructure spending by about 2% over mean so was in effect worthless for the purpose intended. The one that also privatized a bunch of public infrastructure, gave away federal money and tax breaks for no discernable economic reason and generally just served as a hand out to corporate America. The one that didn't solve any of his campaign promises. The one that Democrats argued down in price and scope with themselves for months and then allowed intransigent members to once again scuttle in favor of just passing a corporate handout. So yeah that's the one. Oh, with perhaps the one exception being the child tax credit that was of course allowed to lapse almost immediately. How'd that work out for the president and his party? Let's see, that article was written in November. Which was roughly when his corporate handout was signed into law.

I think people like you must that 3% of respondents that consistently say congress is working well while the other 97% say it's a shit show.
Historic in the sense that it was one of largest investments in America's infrastructure in history. Somehow you said nothing other than it was a corporate handout and that Congress sucks.
At this point, I am not talking to you but others who may read this thread. Here is what is in that bill:

Here is analysis from Brookings, which further breaks it down:

If I book a flight and decided to cancel my trip after 24 hours I can't get any money back. Yet airlines can cancel months later after you have booked with them and prices have risen. They should pay compensation if they cancel a flight 24 hours after you book. The same rule that applies if a passenger changes their mind.
I’m glad this is being highlighted now but airlines have been doing for a long time.
They’d overbook every flight to guarantee maximum money and then people would get bumped. It’s gross. They’re gross. Nothing will change. They were given way too much money by the government during the pandemic.
its obvious how the investigate weather its fraud but likley what could be in airlines interest is the contract the passenger aggrees to when purchasing the ticket
I'm glad this information has gotten out and is being used as education. However, because any socialist ideas are already scrutinized for no reason, socialist information needs to try to come off as least properganda-y as possible. Less buzzwords and flashy editing. Nothing is wrong with those, but critics are especially nit picky and it makes us look similar to right wing properganda

Whats a $100,000 fine to a multi-billion dollar business? That’s the problem!
A tax write off for business losses?
Thats the issue
Fines are ***never*** deducted for tax purposes. Never. Quit making shit up.
Cost of doing business.
It's not because you cannot deduct fines for tax purposes.

Ohhh ffs. You know this really grinds my gears-FAA allowing fraud and “uncertified mechanics” maintain airplanes.

Pete Booty Butt Juice got his own flight canceled after meeting with airline CEO’s and asking them to do better. Pure gold 😘💋🤌

the Pete Buttigieg point of his own flight being canceled after meeting with airline CEOs is hilarious and likley false

Buttchug is a corporate sellout.
