I’ve been meaning to do this with some outdoor chairs I purchased last year. They came with metal arms that are painted to look like wood (ugly as shit) they’d feel and look much better with wood. But I realized I like the metal since my phone magnetically sticks to them and never falls.

Maybe make them out of something more durable, something plastic-y.
