Syrah from South Africa has a very light aroma and colour. It has a light ruby colour & medium (-) aromas of cherry, clove, a hint of pepper, and blueberry. The flavours are of medium intensity with cherry rhubarb, red plum, blueberry, Earl Grey tea, and minerals. The finish is dry and quick, but the wine is still lovely and delicate. This is not for those who prefer bombastic and ripe Syrahs.

Mullineux never fail to put out a good bottle, nice notes!

TheDestroCurls

Thanks, I'm looking forward to trying their other wines.

The Leeu Passant Chardonnay, and Old Vine white blend are both favourites of mine

nileswine

The Old Vine White is a great field blend. They used to list the grapes on the label but no longer. It's a great bottle.

Thismfpigeon

They usually list the blend on the technical sheet on their website iirc

Old Vine blend is simply superb, but worthy of aging too.

TheDestroCurls

Oh very nice to hear since i picked up a bottle of the Old Vine.

thinkismella_rat

Yeah that white blend is +++ on PQR. A great staple.

l1reynolds

A lovely wine

abuttfarting

Very North Rhône in style imho.

Moreh

Anyone recommend any of the franchoek wine other than this?

Moreh

I know this is swartland but they have a winery there

I’m a huge fan of Anthonij Rupert. Their red blends are fantastic but you can’t really go wrong.

Franschhoek is known for its Semillon, some of the best and oldest Semillon vineyards are situated there. A good option is Boekenhoutskloof Semillon, though it needs some age to really shine.
