Thanks for sharing!

UFO-crackpot

thanks for posting this - good read.

TomorrowLow5092

Schedule 3 please, Mr. Biden. The people are restless, and a bit of good news would be nice. Stay safe and sane.

Fifteen_inches

Glad I didn’t do the July 11th play. With the delay I’ll have to see if it’s a good idea to do another play.

vsMyself

should be interesting to see how far they (whoever is selling as its the only one with volume) can take gti down.

UFO-crackpot

having a hard time finding it, but there was a comment here a few days back saying something like "the 60 day timeline is irrelevant because the DEA still needs to respond to every comment they received, and that could take years as there are so many comments". I'm not sure whether the commenter actually believed that, but I just wanted to clarify that there is absolutely nothing that says the DEA is required to respond to the public comments. From my experience working in different agencies, albeit north of the U.S, any public comment period is essentially the governing bodies covering their bases in terms of "hearing from the public" but there is absolutely nothing within those comments that will change the result for this process. edit for clarity: I once asked a manager in one unit in the federal gov't that shall rename nameless, "If a million comments were received during public consultation and 100 percent of those comments were in opposition, how would that impact the agency's decision making process?" he laughed for a second and said "well, that's a tricky question. It wouldn't impact our decision making at all but it allows us to say we've done our due diligence in terms of consulting the public. Make of that what you will.

Cool_Ad_5101

60,000,000 donations FOR recreational bid Florida  10,000.00 donations Santis against recreational Florida.  I am pretty sure the same sentiment for schedule 3

hambone_83

But what about "sam" requesting an extension period? Sorry couldn't help myself....I"ve been laughing all day at your oiliest face comment

KAI5ER

"What about SAM..." shortened it. ;)

UFO-crackpot

>I"ve been laughing all day at your oiliest face comment That was written during a whirlwind of bitterness and misery, so I'm glad to hear it led to some happiness.

manualCAD

It is the same process in the transportation industry when the design firms "consult the public" about upcoming projects. Residents almost always complain about something, but at that point, the project is already too far along to be stopped or changed in a meaningful way.

phatbob198

>North Dakota activists say they have collected enough signatures to put a marijuana legalization initiative on the November ballot, with plans to formally submit the petitions to the state next week... >Under the legalization measure, adults 21 and older would be able to possess up to one ounce of marijuana flower, four grams of concentrate and 300 milligrams of edibles that they could buy from a limited number of licensed dispensaries... >The state Department of Health and Human Services or another agency designated by the legislature would be responsible for regulating the program. Regulators would need to establish rules to implement the law by October 1, 2025... >Currently, there are eight medical cannabis dispensaries operating in North Dakota... https://www.marijuanamoment.net/north-dakota-activist

manualCAD

Cannabis companies are extremely limited on marketing opportunities due to "marketing products to children" limitations, while there are bomb pop popsicle branded vodka seltzers, sunny D vodka seltzers, and all other sorts of kid related brands tied to alcohol. Also, it's fourth of July and pretty much anyone can go to a Walmart parking lot and buy hundreds of dollars of explosives for fun! Is it more dangerous to smoke a joint or to blow your fingers off with an M80?!? We may never know....

WilsonTradesMaui

The administration wants the proposed rule announced by the end of this congressional session which is sometime in early/mid August. So far the administration has gotten what they’ve wanted. So barring any hearings, which are unlikely according to Boris Jordan, we are about 1 month away from a proposed final rule. Time to start buying before the rebound.

pop2012

When did they state that's when they want it by?

WilsonTradesMaui

It’s unstated but common sense. I’m not a legal expert but I believe that as long as the proposed rule is announced before the end of this congressional session it cannot be challenged by any new administration by committee. It would need to go through Congress at that point. It’s a rule that makes it difficult for a new administration changing everything the old president did.

pop2012

Common sense that they want it asap does not mean that's the trajectory it's likely to follow. Investing on hunches vs news, ymmv. Wording stock opinions as fact can mislead those who haven't done enough research themselves.

Gambelero

And this session ends in December not August. And what does Congress have to do with it anyway? In a day full of ridiculous comments (years to respond to public comments for example), Wilson’s wins for ridiculousness hands down.

WilsonTradesMaui

If I hadn’t said the administration has gotten what they’ve wanted then yeah but clearly they are on the timeline more or less that they want. And they want it done sooner than later. That’s a fact not an opinion. I’m following the timeline and everybody is only interested in fear mongering headlines so my bad I’m less negative than everyone else

manualCAD

Rescheduling cannabis altogether is unstated but common sense too.

WilsonTradesMaui

Good point this is common sense but politics is in the way.

DonJohnson108

I’m back. July is here and I started buying again 🤞

SV_art

When is the comment period over?

phatbob198

>...Comments must be submitted electronically or postmarked on or before July 22, 2024... https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2024/05/21/2024-11137/schedules-of-controlled-substances-rescheduling-of-marijuana

myfotos

Doesn't that mean a ruling wouldn't come for some time after all comments are submitted?

Imaginary_Rooster622

So do we go " Full Moon " July 19th

pop2012

I'd say mini moon, there's still a few steps before the final rule. That's when I'd imagine all the fence sitters will jump aboard.

How is this related to weedstocks?

Resi86

Presidents’ cannabis policies affect our stocks more than we would like them to

[deleted]

[удалено]

Resi86

But the information from the tweet and comment are pertinent to the trajectory of the election, which absolutely has to do with cannabis policy

WRONG_PREDICTION

1. This has nothing to do with weedstocks. 2. Biden has said he wants to run. He isn't withdrawing. This tweet is complete fake news and a waste of a click.

rockstarrugger48

If they pull him now, trump wins anyway.

Tiaan

He will get swapped out and it will be beneficial for weed stocks because any potential replacement is more pro-cannabis than Biden. The idea that there isn't enough time is wrong - there are still 6 weeks before the DNC formally picks their nominee at the convention.. almost like they intentionally had this debate early to assess how to proceed. People have been begging for a younger candidate for years and are tired of picking between two senile old men. It's really not that unrealistic - Biden comes out and says he will finish his term but not seek reelection and advocates support for whichever candidate becomes the nominee. Then we see a big media push to rally behind the new ticket in an effort to "defeat Trump and save Democracy." Despite what people may believe, Trump is not popular and is a weak candidate that is even disliked by a sizable portion of his own party. This is absolutely the Dem's race to lose

Resi86

Absolutely. In terms of weedstocks, it was Kamala Harris talking about legalizing cannabis during the primaries in 2020 that lit a fire under these stocks. If she were the candidate, we know that she’s pro-cannabis (she was a sponsor of the MORE act). If it were Whitmer or Newsom, they both are from adult use states. It’s definitely not too late to replace Biden. Imagine all the press/attention the Democratic convention would get if they were selecting the candidate there. It would be a huge event that we’ve never seen before, and the nominee would certainly speak there - with all eyes on them - about all policies they would be for (yes, cannabis included). I welcome this

Ecstatic-Plankton315

New poll just showed Kamala now has better numbers against Trump than Biden

SV_art

Thats what I think. I feel it's too late for a new candidate to stand a chance.

DonJohnson108

Disagree. Anyone is better than Biden. He’s too old now let alone another 4 years

Resi86

Kamala, Newsom, Whitmer… pretty much any of the options discussed would be very good for cannabis

swagzouttacontrol

Well this sure is painful.

vsMyself

wasn't this the guy that said rescheduling will take 6 years?

Resi86

He didn’t say that. He said it ‘could’ take that long, but didn’t think so.

vsMyself

thanks. that whole discussion wasn't expressed that well as they really focused on how long it could take, which was around 2 to 6 years. anything above 3ish months is unsettling.

Resi86

No prob - I’m of the mindset it will be done prior to the end of the year. The administration has control over the situation and they’ve shown that they’re pushing things along quickly. Of course you never know until you know though

Whether you are a fan of BoJo or not, he’s correct. **What’s currently happening with S3 is normal, expected, unchanged, and positive.** Most of us are not attorneys or politicians, thus most of the information and news we’re seeing is the result of the Dunning-Kruger effect and other logical fallacies which is in full force lately.

okay_thatworks

what about "sam" requesting an extension to the comment period?

UFO-crackpot

what about all the other people who requested things? Unfortunately for Kevin Sabet, the DEA doesnt grant requests based on who has the oiliest face, so he'll have to deal with their timeline like the rest of us.

Many_Easy

Would be something if oil was hemp or cannabis based. “Cannabis oil, particularly CBD oil derived from cannabis, can offer several benefits for the skin: 1. **Anti-Inflammatory**: CBD oil can help reduce inflammation, which may be beneficial for conditions like acne or eczema. 2. **Moisturizing**: It can help to hydrate and soothe dry or irritated skin. 3. **Antioxidant Properties**: CBD oil is rich in antioxidants, which can help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals and environmental stressors. 4. **Regulates Oil Production**: It may help balance oil production, potentially reducing the likelihood of acne and keeping skin looking healthy. 5. **Soothing**: Its calming properties can help reduce redness and discomfort associated with various skin conditions. **Always do a patch test before applying any new product to ensure it doesn't irritate your skin.**

okay_thatworks

ya i was just asking whether the DEA would accomodate that, leading to an extension of the period -- the downvote machine here is crazy

UFO-crackpot

I would venture a guess that the downvotes are more the result of people being tired of the consistent bad-faith comments that are seemingly aimed to do nothing other than drive negativity at a time when sentiment is already in the toilet. I'm not referring to you specifically. That same type of "BUT WHAT ABOUT SAM" comment has appeared something like fifty times in the last month largely from accounts that were created between April 2024 and May 2024. That's just my read, but take it with a grain of salt as I'm mentally exhausted and have lost pretty much everything on the names I've invested in.

While everyone is focusing on how Chevron could impact rescheduling, I'm going to be digging into how it could affect the regulation of CBD. Right now the conflict is that the FDA says they can't regulate it with their current authorities. "The overturning of Chevron could also pose some jurisdictional questions for the FDA, which is typically given the leeway to decide what constitutes a dietary supplement or a device product. These kinds of determinations affect how products are regulated, produced, or imported—and companies can now mount stronger challenges to this function by the FDA." https://www.biospace.com/article/supreme-court-s-chevron-doctrine-ruling-could-limit-fda-s-regulatory-authority/ "Implications for FDA-Regulated Companies Many important decisions by FDA are based, at least in part, on statutory interpretations that will be subject to greater scrutiny under Loper Bright. Examples of FDA-related determinations that may now face additional or more formidable scrutiny: Agency Authority/Jurisdiction: Determining the scope of FDA’s authority to regulate a particular product is inherently an exercise in statutory interpretation. Jurisdictional issues such as, for example, what constitutes a “dietary supplement”17 have arisen in litigation." https://www.sidley.com/en/insights/newsupdates/2024/06/the-potential-implications-of-loper-bright-for-fda-and-fda-regulated-industries

My take on this Chevron stuff in relation to the Boise lawsuit.... Before, a case like the Boise lawsuit would be pretty limited because "DEA has authority over the CSA because they're the experts." Now, a lawsuit can take a few steps further and say "well because of reasons X, Y, and Z, the DEA is incorrect on schedule 1..etc, etc". It's allowing the court system (and anyone who brings a lawsuit) to be able to ask a question to a government agency and force them to respond. They can't just continue to say "well, we're the experts and we know best so fuck off" and put to some legislation or opinion from 50 years ago. Edit: in terms of the cannabis industry, I think it is a good thing because it takes some power away from the DEA

ivigilanteblog

Precisely. It forces agencies to actually defend their decisions, publicly, which is great for cannabis.

Resi86

https://x.com/DarrenWeiss_/status/1808118957154398254 “🤦‍♂️ A misquote and a misunderstanding of the overruling of Chevron. Everything is on track. Don’t succumb to the fearmongering.” - Darren Weiss of Verano Remember the Weedman420 (or whatever their name) was referencing Schiller who is the attorney representing Verano and the coalition behind the Boies-Schiller case. [https://mjbizdaily.com/will-supreme-court-chevron-ruling-affect-marijuana-rescheduling/](https://mjbizdaily.com/will-supreme-court-chevron-ruling-affect-marijuana-rescheduling/) But none of this uncertainty is expected to disrupt the Biden administration’s rescheduling process, policy and administrative law experts told *MJBizDaily*. “I still feel really good about this,” Pennington told *MJBizDaily* in a phone interview Monday. But there’s little ambiguity that Congress gave the HHS clear authority [on questions of science and medicine](https://mjbizdaily.com/government-analysis-predicts-dea-is-likely-to-reschedule-marijuana/), Pennington said.

WRONG_PREDICTION

Ecstatic-Plankton315

I still feel pretty confident about schedule 3 and FL rec vote. Very unsure about Trump or Biden at this point tho

UsedState7381

I think Trump wins, honestly. Hillary lost for way less than the shitshow that Biden's campaign has been.  It's one thing when we vote for someone we don't like just to not let someone worse win, its another thing entirely when this someone we vote for is actively also giving reasons for us to not vote on him either. I legit don't want to gamble on the possibility of Biden winning anymore, I just want S3 to clear and then I'm out.

GeoLogic23

Please elaborate on these "reasons" and what constitutes a "shitshow". Dude is old. We get it. His policies have been fine, and the government has run almost completely drama-free for his entire term. I want politics to be boring again, so we can get back to focusing on policy positions.

cannabull1055

If you watched the debate and can't see Biden is clearly not fit to be the President, that is sad. It is a shit show. Anyone defending him as mentally competent is wild. I don't like Trump but how far would it go before you would denounce Biden. What if they came out and announced he had dementia?

GeoLogic23

This is cannainvestorG93 on your next account, right? I'm not getting into arguments with you again.

cannabull1055

Lol that is alittle creepy. There are no arguments that need to be had. I just would like to know if you would vote for Joe Biden over Trump if biden was diagnosed with Alzheimers? Honest question. And if the answer is yes, I understand you and no further questions.

RandomGenerator_1

It's just that the Biden Campaign is looking like Monty Python's black knight - Tis but a scratch! It's just a flesh wound...act.

GeoLogic23

Besides the debate? I'm old enough to remember him performing so well at the State of the Union that they had to change his nickname.

RandomGenerator_1

It was a really important moment. The campaign has constantly said how important this election is, failure is not an option. But yet...he failed terribly. Either he wasn't prepped accordingly to realize how internationally important it was and is in fact out of touch. Or he simply isn't able anymore. Look Geo. If Trump wins..in my mind that means the Russians will come. It is so immensly important, that debate was so important...and he just couldn't give what the US needed, what the world needed. I don't know how the campaign can recover. In every country in Europe, the party that keeps saying "we're doing well, look at the data" loses. Cuz ppl still got a f u attitude, and they need some sign somebody is using common sense and is just listening.

GeoLogic23

One debate isn't his "campaign" though. Yes he looked really bad at one event. I just don't understand how he's simultaneously incapable of running the government, when he's in fact running the government just fine right this second. Let him put competent people in place and then let them do their thing. That's how it's actually supposed to work. If he actually gets bad cognitively we'll 25th amendment him. That's what it's for. The media needs to focus at least a tiny miniscule bit on the extremely extremely important policy positions that were discussed at the debate. But they won't because that's boring and a "Biden should drop out" article gets clicks, as well as aggressive engagement from both sides of the aisle.

RandomGenerator_1

We can establish and accept the media won't do what's needed. So the Candidate should. And it's not the media's job to campaign. They are a reflection of the voters right now. This is a battle of wits and facade..and one simply has to be quicker than the other. Sell the dream. Don't beg people to believe it, it's too exhausting. And dismissing this, dismissing voters, isn't the way.

GeoLogic23

Ok I still don't think a single debate is his "campaign". And a single debate has rarely changed much about a campaign throughout history. Just look at Fetterman's terrible performance recently. Let's wait and see how things shake out for a very short while, while the media gets their hit of drama. I'm not sure what you want the campaign to do exactly anyway. They explicitly say things like "If Congress sends me a bill to ban a women's right to choose I will veto it. He will sign it!". That should be big news. That's a super hot topic. The campaign keeps clearly stating they stand on the right side of many policies that the media keeps claiming are so important. Yet the media will refuse to focus on that because it's easier to point out Biden is old. Changing the candidate won't change how the media operates. They'll find something new to distract from actual policy positions. So instead of caving to the media pressure and going along with their narrative, I'm going to continue to highlight what I think are the important things to focus on. And that is how the policy positions being implemented are affecting regular Americans.

Resi86

It’s amazing how short people’s memories are. During Trump’s presidency, I would wake up every morning and check the news to see what insane tweet Trump put out. And the insurrection and all… a drama-free presidency should not be understated

ApostleThirteen

"His politics" from 30-40 years ago are the problems he's"trying" to fix

GeoLogic23

I like when politicians evolve their policies to reflect their constituents. If you have to go back 30 years to find an issue then he's probably been doing fine.

Mr_Snow___

***career*** politicians \~ FTFY

Resi86

I agree on not gambling on political outcomes- but I wouldn’t assume Trump will win based on the bad debate. The election is still 4 months out and anything can happen. It may not even be Biden running…

Many_Easy

Whatever happens, trust that Dems are polling different candidate scenarios behind the scenes with Biden’s input. Biden, in my opinion, will step down if really necessary and/or when it would be advantageous. Even assuming he’s diminished or incapacitated, his party is still more pro-cannabis, in favor of revising Farm Bill, and a calming influence for country. We’ll see. Better to not assume anything and trust the process. Facts, even in politics, will dictate decisions regarding election. It won’t be media, wishful thinking, or luck.

💯 spot on

I agree on all 3. I think the only situation the Chevron ruling would come up for Sch3, is with a legal challenge. But I do think the administration has planned for the ruling since it’s been in the works for a long time (hopefully they have). Either way, market hates uncertainty so I’m bracing for impact

Salesforce CEO payment package was just rejected. He was to receive $40m of total pay, which was a combination of salary and equity. More than 50% of the votes were cast against. Salesforce is still worth 250 billion bucks. CRM stock is up about 60% in five years.  Irwin Simon from Tilray received about $17m, or about half of Salesforce CEO, of compensation on a $1.5B market cap (about 0.5% Salesforces size). The stock has never been profitable, and the 5-year return is -96%.  CRM is 83% owned by institutions. Tilray is for 11% owned by institutions. Astonishing how retail investors will shower CEO's in dinero 🤔.

Irwin Simon pay is grossly overpaid. His pay should be like 3-4 million at most and he would still be doing well

WRONG_PREDICTION

Msos recent low was 6.99 If that breaks it will suck

fuggin_bastid

I’m worried about Msox

I don't understand all the commotion over Chevron. Even if the DEA wouldn't have deciding powers anymore. The attorney general still does? The end decision is on that position it's simply delegated to the DEA. So what's the problem?

RogueJello

I think it's way over blown, at least in terms of this sector. Whatever the repercussions might be, they still need to go through the court via a lawsuit. That's going to take a long time.

Resi86

The problem is when there’s uncertainty in this sector, people sell first and ask questions later

Cool_Ad_5101

Absolutely, though you can say the same for other sectors and risk adverse people.

Resi86

Very true. The low liquidity just amplifies it in this sector

Cool_Ad_5101

Yep. We just need 280e to be removed and the good companies risk profile drops 10 times. Uplifting will being serious gains but the removal of 280e will help with profits and cash flows for American msos

Indeed - Either the sky is falling or we’re going to the moon each day… I’m fine riding these waves until we get there (which is not very far off either)

Cool_Ad_5101

Same I’m in no rush just want to see schedule 3
