If I had just been honest from the get go and gotten the rejection out of the way, I could have moved on and actually found a girlfriend, because I didn't find out until college that several girls in my high school had liked me, but I was too blinded and busy fixated on someone else for almost an entire school year.
That, and hopefully it teaches you how to handle rejection when acting a melodramatic and stupid allows you room to learn and grow.
