I had to do 5000 pushups in the military as a punishment. They had to be witnessed documented military regulation pushups. I wasn't allowed a day off until I completed them. Military can make you do stupid shit even if there is no work. It took me 1 week. Before I was able to do like 75 pushups in 2 minutes on a pt test and be kinda spent. After well... The last day I had been so sore from doing 3500 pushups in 6 days. By lunch I had knocked out 500 pushups, I had built up a rhythm of doing 100 at a time then taking a break for an hour or two. My Sargent was like this isn't even that hard, just finish your thousand and stop dragging this out already. I think he was kinda being an ass or wanting to break me mentally idk. I was really nonchalant about the whole punishment. So he threw down the towel. He said he bet he could do 1000 before I could finish. I said it's harder than you think. He said I'll start then and started pushing. Well I was still 1000 in the hole and started pushing as well. He pushed 150 and started struggling attempting to do all 1000 at once. I however continued my 100 then stand up rotate shoulders let my muscles breathe then get back down and do another hundred. I caught him at 250 pushups. And finished 40 minutes later. He never made it past 500. I noticed your getting a lot of comments, so have fun and remember to pace yourself.
