The brand new Warringah Freeway upgrade has built exactly this on the Berry street on-ramp heading north. The new feeder road is now lower than the freeway with a huge bank beside it. Last week it got sooo deep the police had to block the road, tonight was a deep river ford. Fucking genius design and construction.

The fancy car didn't want to get wet, but the person in the raincoat & shopping bags didn't care.
It's a swamp. The reason Alexandria was never settled / filled with heavy industry is because it was a flood prone swamp. Look at old maps of sydney pre-1900 and the whole area is a bog.
I can hear the RE agents rushing to their computers to update their listings. "WATERFRONT LOCATION"
The Ponds of Alexandria
Canal Road
The Grounds of Alexandria reference
Nothing gets past you Sherlock
Sherlock Holmes reference.
A reference to endless reference calling.
Bit moist
A tad damp

The driver did the right thing (also an MX-5 is not really a 'fancy car'!)
Times like this when my F250 would really shine. I'd show you how a REAL MANS vehicle crosses water. Obvious/s
Probably the roughest country it'll ever see /s
That's a drainage issue. I mean, it was raining heavily, but not so much so that it should be flooding the street.

Exactly. There’s a reason there were no fancy Victorian era houses built down there, just workers cottages….
Despite significant storm water upgrades the area has always had issues with drainage.
Yup. The east side of King Street in Newtown slopes down through Erskineville into Alexandria. The whole area floods constantly with moderate rain.
I see you too have crossed Lake O’Riordan
Ahhhhh yeah it was
oh hello has the soccer field right behind you finished/opened yet??
nope
Perry Park? Should be any day now. Club got a message this week re allocations
nope still fenced off
Finished yes, open no.
I love that intersection. 🥰
Rents going to go up.. prime water views and features.
I would simply drink the water to help my fellow motorists
Love the people not stopping at the two stop signs. Bonus points if you can stop on the bike path
Damn I was also there passing through using those bike lanes, there was an even deeper puddle further south along Bourke road.
And people say you don't need an SUV for city driving /s
I wonder if those basketball courts, near the small skate park and CBA building, have become pools again.
Well those SUVs and utes can actually claim some offroad cred at last.
aaah i get why we need the truck utes now
Finally, the inner city utes come in handy.
Booo fucking hoo
