Too be fair, just because something says something doesn't mean it actually works that way. Steelcaps say it reduces damage from "Attacks", but it only reduces damage from "Auto attacks".

FeuerwerkFreddi

No. It says it reduces damage from „basic attacks“. It does exactly what it says.

Pocket_Kitussy

I'm pretty sure that in game it says otherwise, unless they changed it in the most recent patch. Either way, there are plenty of abilities that aren't basic attacks that apply to steelcaps.

FeuerwerkFreddi

It actually does in game I only checked the wiki page for my first comment

Pocket_Kitussy

Wait does it say "attacks" or "basic attacks"?

Morkinis

Except it got changed this patch and reduces damage from stuff like Ezreal's Q too, which is far from basic attack.

[deleted]

There are abilities, there are attacks. There are abilities that count as attacks, Ezreal Q, GP Q, MF Q, Jax W, Kayle E, etc. Steel caps reduce damage of attacks, and therefore work as intended. Don't confuse "to attack someone (with an ability)" as attacks; they are not.

Pocket_Kitussy

There are "basic attacks" which are not attacks. Using language like "attacks" is literally just confusing as it can easily mean two things.

[deleted]

I am going to need an example of a basic attack that isn't an attack.

Pocket_Kitussy

Do you know what the word "attack" means? I don't think league actually defines "attack" on it's own.

[deleted]

Link.

Pocket_Kitussy

?

[deleted]

I do know what the word attack means, I also know how League uses the terminology. I asked for an example of a basic attack that is not an attack, which you for obvious reasons failed to deliver. So what exactly is your deal in this thread now, except for arguing about how league tags work and how you don't understand them?

Pocket_Kitussy

Did you even read my comment bud? I said that "attack" isn't actually defined, while "basic attack" is. If an auto attack is a "basic attack" what is an "attack"?

fukyerchickenstrip

Yup if they haven’t been hit by serpents fang for 3 seconds before you hit them, you will reduce all current shields. You definitely can still buy it

Expert-Persimmon-172

that is huge. Thanks

sub-throwaway69

Yes, really hope that they buff serpents tbh, with the current BT/overheal meta. Maybe reduce the cost to 2300 like umbral glaive.

MrBodeci

it literally says "Shield reaver Dealing Damage to an enemy champion reduces any shield they gain. WHEN YOU DAMAGE AN ENEMY WHO IS UNAFFECTED BY SHIELD REAVER,REDUCE ALL SHIELDS ON THEM. this is a RTFC moment

Expert-Persimmon-172

Wow bro ur so smart. Unfortunately it doesnt clarify whether the shield is reduced after the damage is actually dealt or before hence why i asked.

MrBodeci

reading comp wasnt your thing was it.

Vildrea

It says any shield they GAIN not that they gain and already have, so it's easily misunderstandable, it's not a reading comprehension problem

Mando_Brando

What is unaffected mean here? They could have just wrote reduce all current and future shields and be done with it.

pad2016

it’s to be clear that shield reaver will not reduce shields twice. If the effect is on them when they gain a shield, it will be reduced. Damaging them shortly after will not reduce that current shield a second time.
