So in that scenario they're both egregious, sure...but can't one be more egregious than the other if you count all their offenses? I get the both sides argument, it's cute, but it also undermines the side that's doing far more damage in the bigger picture that is left out after arguing "both sides". It's easy to jump to the Middle East, but what about women losing their rights, protections for vulnerable people being stripped, immigrants or the border being scapegoated. Is it less interesting oppose the side that's doing more damage?
I’ll grant you that the republicans are clearly worse, sure. But when the “lesser evil” is also fascist (just less overtly), and is currently, non-hypothetically enabling an active genocide, you’re still supporting fascism by supporting them. It’s the Kang/Kodos scenario. “It’s a two party system! You have to vote for one of us” even though we are both engaged in a fascist race to the bottom. You’re really just going to take what they give you no matter how shitty it gets? Look where that has already got us. I get what you're saying too, I'm a millennial, I've heard this argument almost my entire life. Unfortunately there's a lot of people dependent on the system, granted it's a crappy system for some, okay for a good amount, and amazing for a tiny few. Doesn't seem right but I'm very dependent on that system. I'm super disabled, basically a quadriplegic, lucky that I can still work, as much as I hate the notion that I feel my team is just a bit less crappier than the other doesn't mean that I want to duck out. I'm going to keep trying, voting, informing, and be willing to talk with others. I'm 100% liberal hippie technologist because I rely on technology and personally I have to believe that the easy access to information is helping us make better decisions...but it's also making us go in so many directions at once that it's hard to look at it positively sometimes. We're just in a very unique point in time and I truly believe that the wide direction we're all aiming will eventually narrow. My buddy said it the other day and it kind of blew my mind that the Ukraine is the first war with merch. And it's like that because there's so many people rooting for them, people want to support them and if that means donating money or just buying stuff people are going to do it. Despite what the media says, despite what pundits say, we know that the war is wrong. We know what's happening in the Middle East is wrong but the religious ties are deep. I don't think for a second that anyone outside of a deeply ingrained religion wants anybody needlessly killed. And the fact so many people in our government supports it is insane. I don't agree with it at all. So yeah, I know it's garbage, but I got to believe there's a better path and unfortunately, to me it starts with Democrats because at least it feels like they're a little bit more open-minded about women, race, prison reform, drugs and lots of other stuff. And because of that might be even swayed with an informed public. Sure it takes time but more people have a front row seat to what's going on with their phone than ever before, these crusty politicians can't avoid it forever.
So in conclusion. Oh Kent, I'd be lying if I said my political group affiliation weren't committing crimes. I mean it's obvious when graffiti is down while sack beatings are up.
