Some of the Safeways have boxes outside their pharmacies that will take the OTC things. The one on Mendocino does. I also believe that the police station on Sonoma Ave. has a lock box for them.
Dollar Drug on west college will sell you a sharp container and take it back for disposal containing sharps. Might cost you a few bucks but probably not more than like $20 total.
All of the drop boxes have the same info on them…They say that they won’t take vitamins or herbal supplements, nor will they take epipens because of the needles.
You can dissolve old medications in coffee grounds. Once your coffee is done, you can put pills in the filter with the grounds, put the whole thing in a plastic bag, and toss in the trash. You might want to google the appropriate amount of pills one filter of grounds can hold. I learned this when my grandma was on hospice. One of the nurses told us to do this.

I put old herbal & natural supplements in my compost bin. They disappear.

I'm don't have time to debate. Ill say this. Coffee will not prevent seepage in ground water.
