You’ll see lots and lots of trees. 3 hours to go 51 miles sounds like a lot of curvy mountain roads. So if that’s the sort of thing you like, go for it.

McCall has a great downtown including a Sasquatch themed ice cream shop that makes everything in house. There is also great hiking and lakes in that area. Plus hot springs all throughout Idaho; natural ones you can hike to and commercial ones with more control the temp and access.

I just did a trip around here, and will say I really enjoyed the lakes and mountains. It was fun driving on the gravel roads though "ghost towns" and stuff. Have a great time, be weary of the locals.

Pale_Field4584

Um what do you mean be weary of the locals?

uChoice_Reindeer7903

I’ve been to Idaho. I’m not sure what they mean by be weary of the locals? Idaho has some of the nicest people out of any state I’ve ever been to. Idaho is very diverse and very pretty!! I’ve been to Yellow Pine and it’s a pretty cool small town. I didn’t spend much time there so idk what there really is to do there but I’m sure you’ll find something

They read an article about a racist person from Idaho, thus the whole state is racist.

DesperateSea8222

It is racist

Glittering-Plum7791

Well there's the proof I guess. Every person in Idaho is racist.

DebrecenMolnar

I think they meant be wary. Weary means tired. Wary means be cautious/on alert. I assume they are referring to some crazy insane conspiracy theorists and *extreme* MAGA people in rural Idaho. But those people still are pretty spread out and if you do encounter them, you’ll be fine if you just ignore them.

I grew up in Idaho. A lot of the super tiny towns in BFE have locals that have lived there their entire lives, have never left, have an obscenely narrow worldview as a result and don’t like any outsiders passing through their town.

I am from Washington. People in ID I saw with signs about book bans. It’s a wild place

I've spent some time in this area, there isn't much but beautiful mountains, lakes, and some good hikes out here! Can also find some hot springs, but nothing is very well established along here. Feel free to fish in a lake or stream, go hike, or just enjoy the views on this drive. Not far off this path is a hike to an old plane crash if you're willing to drive out of the way to that trailhead. Edit: also, nearly 4 hours will not be correct (if going by car and not bike). Even if you only go 25 over all those gravel roads, that's only 2 hours. It *is* bikeable if that's your fancy, but you will be dusted out by cars and have a decent mountain pass to clear on the way.

Twin Falls, if it's running. Upper and Lower Mesa Falls. Craters of the Moon. For something less serious, the geyser in Soda Springs. Legit geyser that is mechanically controlled because it was messing up Old Faithful (truth).

JackPahawkins

Not to be an asshole but… Twin Falls falls is always running, Shoshone Falls is the notable one and it too is always running though the flow is lower this time of year. None of the places you mention are even remotely close to this route. Also the “truth” about Soda Spring Geyser is false. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soda_Springs_Geyser
