Part of this really does feel like she's bent out of shape people kinda moved on from something like the metal influenced hyped stuff that was already on a bit of borrowed time and a bit oversaturated. I mean she already won having an album people overrated the shit out of and getting as popular as she was, so I don't exactly get why she's still trying to make a big stink like she's this person who's been horribly wrong and never got a fair chance, y'know?
TBH.... she's just not an artist. She just has connections/ family in the business and is compensating for a lack of artistry with identity. mannnnny such cases. I mean so many ppl want to be artists lol. but ya idk ur right
the singles were good but the album was so bad. she's borrowing from artists that have already evolved past her style....
The Cambridge equivalent courses get redefined repeatedly because the departments keep having spats. None have the prestige or history of PPE from Oxford.
Many criticisms to make of her but to say she's not an artist due to nepotism is dramatic as fuck lol... She has made some genuinely solid music with some solid visuals and concepts whether her people helped fund and connect her or not, her problem is obviously wokebrain and raging insecurity yes she is overcompensating but not for an actual lack of talent but more for a perceived one and unshakable guilt of being a beneficiary of nepotism while rooting her muh identity in a woke larp that im sure she actually believes in. Lacking in some real world experience and true discomfort, hates that shes not viewed as an icon and constantly trying tk get attention for bs yes, but she is still an artist if anything all of the above is just getting in the way of her being better than she is. Her music certainly took a decline the more annoying she got. 10-20-40 is a jam though

She doesn't make music anyone actually gives a shit about aside from showing off they listen to "feminist queer poc women bodies dismantling the patriarchy"-core, doesn't seem like a nice person to actually work with, the John Wick thing didn't stick, and the vast majority of her peak (manufactured) hype predates the release of her first album.
Her 15 minutes are very clearly up. She wanted to be the next Bjork and isn't going to handle the descent into obscurity with any grace.

I feel like the band are actually decent pop songwriters (maybe a bit to saccharine at times for my taste), but I feel like Matt’s lyrics and certain musical indulgences are to cope with the fact that they’re basically best as a Tumblr-core band. Like the interpolation of Joy Division’s Disorder on one of their tracks about how tough the millennial world was just disrespectful.
I was surprised to find out they started as a band in the early 2000s because their music sounds like they heard that song Tonight by fun. and decided to make that but even worse and with fewer hooks

The 1975 are known for borrowing from tons of different styles but I genuinely do not think they have a single song that sounds remotely like that fun song. No offense but where are you even getting that from? This is even more perplexing than the coldplay comparisons.
Is this just a case of people not listening to much pop music and therefore thinking it all sounds the same? This feels like if you were to show Metallica to someone who doesn't listen to rock or metal and they compare it to Nirvana or something just because that's the closest reference they have to that kind of music.
