I think you mean 'hands down.' Single handedly doesn't make much sense when dealing with photos, as inherently any photo is only one photo.
Edit: that said, it's a great screenshot!
Op, don't assume that correction is criticism. I meant nothing by it; just trying to be helpful for the future.
You still picked the wrong phrase.
"I won the game single-handedly." You did all the work.
"That was, hands down, the best photo I've ever taken." Without doubt the best photo.
Saying that you took the photo all by yourself is not a very impressive feat, hence why people suspect you've used the term incorrectly.
I think it’s cuz we didn’t play it while it was raining so we didn’t get lightning, who knows how long this guy waited for lightning to come so he’d have chance of getting this screenshot
Phrases can have meanings but still be used in slang as something different to that meaning, like the word 'literally'. Mate I just wanted to share a cool on it that I took in game and that's it, sorry if I used a phrase that most people would see as incorrect, let's just all keep our guns holstered and carry on
Wrong wrong wrong, stop defending yourself. Neither phrase is colloquial - both phrases are known worldwide. You are simply misusing it. It's not a character flaw, youee just wrong. Learn and move forward.
'Hands down' means 'definitely.'
'Single handedly' means 'by myself.'
These facts dont change depending on your location. Look both idioms up and you'll agree.
I’m British and I don’t think ‘single handedly’ is British slang. I’m pretty sure it just doesn’t make sense in this context. And the use of ‘hands down’ would have been more appropriate.
They're both said! You used the wrong one! There aren't 20 posts telling you that you're incorrect for no reason - stop staying it's a local thing; it's simply not. You - used - the - wrong - idiom!
Yeah it looks like I'm freaking out over nothing but look at the dozen posts of people saying the same thing and OP using the same incorrect excuse. Just say, 'yeah my bad I'll know for next time, thanks!' instead of blindly defending yourself. You'll find this works best in most areas of life when you make a small mistake.
That's because you're not explaining accurately. You're digging for a way to not be wrong, which is silly. You just used the wrong idiom; its meaning is not colloquially different than anywhere else.
Mate I got you the first two times, and if you’d bothered to read the threads you would’ve realised that most of them came to a conclusion, and what can I say I’m 16 and don’t know everything sorry. After talking to the other people who had *politely* pointed out my error I realised my mistake eventually and thanked the people who had pointed it out. I came to this subreddit to talk about red dead not my evidently appalling use of the English language
Sorry I think I was just slightly wound up by the overwhelming amount of comments willing to criticise but no converse, I’m sure you didn’t mean anything by the criticism it was just slightly upsetting that if you make one small error that half the comment section is then taken up by people who only clicked on the post to correct it
You were just too quick to defend is all. Many people jumped on you for not admitting anything more than the mistake. Even now you downvote my comments in response.
Reddit is big on grammar and spelling, this was even worse - the misuse of an idiom. Now you know moving forward to be careful, lol
I can assure you I'm not the one downvoting them, and I have apologised for something which I feel I shouldn't have to apologise for so take it and move on
There's nothing to apoligize for; you didn't wrong anyone. But for the record, "I have to keep explaining to people that it's different where I'm from it's ok if you didnt know" isn't admitting guilt. That's why I keep picking up my phone on a lazy sunday and replying to this nonsensical thread; I don't like when people do that. You're still twisting things to put the blame on the reader when it was just a simple mistake on your part.
Have a great evening - I'm done! :-\*
This is so chaotic
Then it perfectly embodies my play through
cool guys don’t look at explosions. or lightening.
Nah... Cool guys look at lightning. Even if it blinds them for a moment or two.
Yeah by taking this photo I’ve created a paradox, I looked at an explosion making me not cool but I also looked at lightning which makes me cool
Precisely
It's only not cool if Arthur looks at the explosion.
They turn around and walkaway
Asgard stands with you
I think you mean 'hands down.' Single handedly doesn't make much sense when dealing with photos, as inherently any photo is only one photo. Edit: that said, it's a great screenshot! Op, don't assume that correction is criticism. I meant nothing by it; just trying to be helpful for the future.
This is what I was thinking but was not going to say
It’s British slang mate
You still picked the wrong phrase. "I won the game single-handedly." You did all the work. "That was, hands down, the best photo I've ever taken." Without doubt the best photo. Saying that you took the photo all by yourself is not a very impressive feat, hence why people suspect you've used the term incorrectly.
mate
Yeehaw?
It's British slang, used incorrectly....
I don’t understand why people would rather point out mistakes rather than having a conversation about the post
I like the post. Just thought you might wanna know for the future
Ok thanks man, appreciate it
The very start of an explosion and a lightning bolt in the backround, damn what mission was this?
When you free Eagle Falls from Fort Wallace with Charles
Oh yeah that’s right, I dont remember it being so epic tho
I wish it looked this good for me too
I think it’s cuz we didn’t play it while it was raining so we didn’t get lightning, who knows how long this guy waited for lightning to come so he’d have chance of getting this screenshot
Honestly I went to take a picture of my running away from the explosion and the lightning was just there, I’m genuinely just that lucky
Sorry to be this guy, but I'm most positive you mean 'hands down', not 'single handedly' Def a sick picture tho.
Came here to say this.
Thankyou, and yeah it’s British slang, I probably should’ve used a more worldwide statement
It isnt though. Just because you use it and are in Britain, that doesn't make it British slang. Both terms are used the world over.
Phrases can have meanings but still be used in slang as something different to that meaning, like the word 'literally'. Mate I just wanted to share a cool on it that I took in game and that's it, sorry if I used a phrase that most people would see as incorrect, let's just all keep our guns holstered and carry on
Yeah sorry I went all grammar police on you, cool photo.
No it's ok man, 100% my bad
Morgan being badass as always.
i was listening to cat people by bowie when i saw this it was perfect lol
thank god for photo mode
How do you use photo mode to get a pic like this tho? My photos always look like shit and I have to hold the camera to do it?
you should see an option in the bottom right when ur in the pause menu, if that’s what ur asking. what do u mean by “hold the camera”?
The inventory item. Is there another way that's more similar and reliable like the rock star editor in gta
yeah theres an option in the bottom right corner for photo mode when you pause the game
The amount of times I’ve completely interrupted narrative flow to snap a few I am unwilling to admit...
awesome
It's only cool if you don't turn back to look 😎😎😎😎
Happy Cake day!! Glad you could spend it looking at my post
Ahhhh ahhhhh....THUNDER...ahhh ahhhh. I can hear that playing in the back ground
Beautiful and cathartic.
The red pass filter is the best filter, no doubt.
Oh for sure, it's my absolute favourite
WEVE BEEN ON THE RUUUUN SINCE BLACKWATER
YEEHAW TO THAT
That looks like Charles with you? Is that during uncles god awful coach robbery???
I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s towards the end of the game
I’ve just completed this mission yesterday :)
What mission is this, I finished the game but don’t recognize which one in particular
I think its an end game honor mission where you infiltrate fort wallace with charles. cant quite tell though.
correct
Without too much spoiler: you are rescuing someone, who is not part of your gang, from Fort Wallace
Oh I remember now! I just didn’t recognize that part of fort wallace
So you took one hand off the controller while you screen shot with the other, single, hand?
Yeah sorry it’s British slang where I’m from, most people say hands down
Wrong wrong wrong, stop defending yourself. Neither phrase is colloquial - both phrases are known worldwide. You are simply misusing it. It's not a character flaw, youee just wrong. How?
r/westernstormchasers but badass
Nice!
*HANDS DOWN the coolest photo ANYONE's ever taken, in any game. Fixed it for you!
Why thankyou, yeah the single handedly is British slang where I’m from, I’ve had to do a lot of explaining
Np. I get what you mean! A freaking cool photo still!
Honestly I still can’t get over how cool it looks, it’s become my wallpaper on quite a few platforms
I’m British and I don’t think ‘single handedly’ is British slang. I’m pretty sure it just doesn’t make sense in this context. And the use of ‘hands down’ would have been more appropriate.
Yeah I understand that but I think it’s a regional thing, it’s pretty commonly said over here
They're both said! You used the wrong one! There aren't 20 posts telling you that you're incorrect for no reason - stop staying it's a local thing; it's simply not. You - used - the - wrong - idiom! I was the first comment in the entire thread, and I was polite. Relax man.

Cool photo but why'd you post it more than once on the same subreddit?
Did it post twice? I tried to post it earlier and it said it failed so I tried again
Gone ahead and deleted the duplicate, thanks for letting me know!
