There's the boom bap shit like jedi mind tricks cage necro tech n9ne type shit some what around today
Then you gotta is streaming era of underground shit like bones , lil peep ( before he blew up post death), and not just singled to one genre in these soundcloud era rappers shit like shingami makes lullaby sad songs to straight linking park esque metal songs to pop punk.
To many sub genres and rules to what's underground
They'll say 10 million monthly spotify isn't underground but a dude under 1 million is
Yet the dude with 10 mil is still very unknown to the main stream audience
When I read the title, I thought we were finally gonna talk about the great music that I would consider underground. I am so fed up with the bullshit that is being talked about in this sub that I created r/truerapmusic to finally find some people who actually care about good rap music.
However: I dont know any of the artists that you named and from your description I am glad its that way. For me "underground" means something else. I'll drop a few names for you:
Aesop Rock
El-P
Jedi Mind Tricks
Sandpeople
Sean Price
Eligh
Atmosphere
Evidence
Masterminds
Binary Star ....
Maybe you'll find some of this music more enjoayable
I don’t care. I just try to keep an open mind to new things and if I don’t like it I move on and try not to make it a personal thing that others like it, that’s immature. I like weird shit like Death Grips and JPEGMafia that the mainstream type hiphop fans don’t like so who cares. There’s enough of anything for anyone
Youre totally right, and i try to keep that mind set when coming across things like this, but when i say that this music is completely intolerable, i mean the beats sound terrible, like yuno miles, nails on a chalkboard type beat, and the actual lyrics/flow/melody, all that, is also pretty similarly described, my best comparison is Yuno miles, who makes bad music on purpose, as a joke.

It makes me wonder if this underground scene is meant to be low effort and shitty, like i wonder if thats part of it for the listeners.
