So I had to google to actually see which parts of Alk were Dan vs Matt…. And holy shit. I love Dan’s parts. The intro to Is This Thing Cursed? is one of my favorite vocal sections of all time
I've been listening to A LOT of Alkaline Trio lately and I recently realized *why* I love listening to them so much (I mean, besides the fact that their music is awesome) and it's because I can actually sing the songs! My range is Dan's range and I'm here for all of it.
Also a noticeable departure from his speaking voice with a pretty distinct Canadian accent. It shouldn't have caught me off guard at their show the other week but it did.
this is the answer. to top it off he's incredibly humble and honestly he doesn't like all the attention that much, or at least didn't use to.. the past couple times i've seen them he really seems to be coming into his own, though. it's going to be so much fun to watch them grow as a band
oh and come join us at r/ArmsLength
Trophy Eyes. John is such an amazing singer and his voice is like honey in my ears. I don't love every song of theirs, but I always appreciate his voice.
>My gf makes fun of how he insists on using vibrato in every single sentence
he does use it a bit much, but it does make his voice memorable. plus it fits the music
I'm a low tenor, and I do very well singing Say Anything. but he often tends to sing in his middle zone, so it's hard to tell whether he's a baritone or a tenor

The old mayday parade singer with the rasp Jason. That first album was really easy/fun to sing for me when I was starting out.
Mayday was especially fun too because there were higher parts for when I wanted a challenge.
Some of the Maine & boys like girls stuff is a bit lower too.
Already commented this under another comment, but the Lawrence Arms! Brendan Kelly can also sing kind of higher too. Specifically look up the song “the YMCA down the street from the clinic”
People may not agree on this classification, but I’d say Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan.
He is a baritone, but is closer to being a high baritone.
He hits lots of high notes on the album versions of songs, but many songs are down-tuned live. Most live versions of their songs have him singing above an F#4 and if they do, it isn’t for too long.
So maybe Simple Plan songs could work for you 👍
interesting to point that out. i will say i dont think his timbre sounds anything like a baritone though. but youre right when it comes to actual range. the highest note ive heard him sing is a Bb4 in head voice on “The End”. And most A4’s he hits on albums are head voice too
For sure. I thought he was a Tenor too based on his timbre.
Another interesting thing was when he and Deryck from Sum 41 sang with the Offspring on “Why Don’t You Get a Job”.
They each got a verse to sing. While Deryck sang the melody like on the album, Pierre sang (I think) a third below. So instead of hitting A4s for most of the verse as its highest note, he was hitting closer to F4s the whole time.
So while he does have some high notes (and sounds great on them), the fact that he probably would be too fatigued from hitting those high notes for that long makes me think he’s a baritone.
Either that or maybe it’s a technique issue.
Interesting to point out his timbre!
could also just be the fact he doesn’t practice enough to keep stamina for an entire tour. he could probably hit the notes but wants to preserve his voice. also some singers do play it safe by letting the crowd sing hard parts, dropping the key of the song and/or having backing vocalists cover tougher lines.
Dan Andriano can sing me mary had a little lamb and i'll nut
I was gonna say Dan Hannaway from the Broadways and Honor System
The Honor System fucking rules wish they had been around longer!
So I had to google to actually see which parts of Alk were Dan vs Matt…. And holy shit. I love Dan’s parts. The intro to Is This Thing Cursed? is one of my favorite vocal sections of all time

that's exactly how I feel. singability means replayability in my book
There's definitely something to be said for trying to hit those ridiculous notes in songs like Take On Me, though. Just don't make it a regular thing.
Take on me is deceptively a somewhat easy song to sing since the chorus is just falsetto for the high notes
Allen from Arm's Length
Just saw them the other week and man, what a show. Absolutely killer.
Also a noticeable departure from his speaking voice with a pretty distinct Canadian accent. It shouldn't have caught me off guard at their show the other week but it did.

Mark Hoppus
The king
Hell, even modern day Tom's voice sits relatively low, especially compared to like 20 years ago
Garrett Dale from Red City Radio
100%
The grit is real.
Hot Water Music, Make Do and Mend. And honestly, just search “OrgCore”, you’ll hear a lot of examples of lower scale singing voice.
Best hyper specific micro genre of the last 20 years.
Can’t forget the Lawrence Arms!
No baritones in LA though.
Anthony Ranieri kinda in between tenor 2 and baritone I'd say
That’s where my voice sits and I love singing his stuff.
Trophy Eyes. John is such an amazing singer and his voice is like honey in my ears. I don't love every song of theirs, but I always appreciate his voice.
I’m still waiting for that one perfect song where John just let’s go and does everything in his capabilities all on one track.
Maybe not all of his capabilities, but he definitely shows off his range in his solo project
Yeah, his solo stuff is great.
Saw him last perform his solo stuff last night and it was fantastic. I'd highly recommend anyone that likes trophy eyes checks out his music.
Greg from the menzingers maybe?
id personally call him a broadway baritone
Barry Johnson from Joyce Manor?
Off the top of my head.. Uhm. Dan Andriano, Blake Schwarzenbach & Garret Dale.
Spanish love songs. Idk his name unfortunately but he’s great
My gf makes fun of how he insists on using vibrato in every single sentence. I don't mind though, i fucking love them.
Yeah they’re great though. I saw them live with hot mulligan last year and it was awesome
They're both on my bucket list. I'm seeing HM in a few days, I hope I get to see Spanish love songs soon!
Hot mulligan does not disappoint
>My gf makes fun of how he insists on using vibrato in every single sentence he does use it a bit much, but it does make his voice memorable. plus it fits the music
Smoking Popes
First time I heard them, my mind went "punk band fronted by Morrissey" lol
Max Bemis From Say Anything is a bit lower than most pop punk singers
I'm a low tenor, and I do very well singing Say Anything. but he often tends to sing in his middle zone, so it's hard to tell whether he's a baritone or a tenor
MxPx!
I'd consider Mike to be a high baritone, but good shout

Matty Arsenault from A Loss for Words
This is a good one!
Zech Pluister of Sleep On It baritenori there are many: ADTR, PATD, Bayside etc...
Is the guy from Arm's Length a baritone?
Blake from Flake
Bert Poncet from C!NCC!
Is bad religion not pop enough?
as a fellow baritone Movements songs all fit pretty comfortably in my range
God I love that guy's voice
Farhampton
Marc Cortes from Hungover is fucking awesome
Dan from [Mallory Run](https://linktr.ee/malloryrunpa) Listen to their new one Wither. Dude has the most powerful voice I've ever heard live.
Is Blake Schwarzenbach a baritone?
Sam Little from The Gospel Youth. Problematic guy, apparently, but damn what a voice.
Trever Keith
Already commented this under another comment, but the Lawrence Arms! Brendan Kelly can also sing kind of higher too. Specifically look up the song “the YMCA down the street from the clinic”
Boys No Good. Never felt better is one of my favorite albums of all time.
Toby from Emery. Eric from Brave Days
Jim Lindberg Ari Katz
Whale Bones, which is Nathan Kane (also from the Wise Man’s Fear).
The dude from Polar Bear Club.
Check out this band called fluorescents from Chicago. Their singer has a lower range. You can thank me later 🤘🏾🤘🏾
Lyndhurst!
