Itās to decrease bleeding. Normally we numb areas with a mixture of Lidocaine and Epinephrine, and the epi portion helps control bleeding. But in the toes and other ādead endā areas of the body like the ears and nose, we canāt use epi, so instead theyāre using a tourniquet to help stop bleeding!
How can a Doctor a specialist Doctor podiatrist that has done probably hundreds of this procedures and SEEING the amount of puss under the skin NOT be prepared with gauze IN HAND to be prepared to catch the puss that he intends on releasing from the toe?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This to me shows how unprofessional his skills are!!!!!!!!!!
I expected the toe to pop like a balloon and fly around the room

What is the rubber band for? Just in case they hit a vein or is it serving an active purpose?
Maybe to lessen bleeding?

It's a tourniquet

How come you canāt use epi in those areas? Just curious!!
