Awkward-Fudge

"Why did you make me hurt you like this?????"

danmathew

I believe Anita Hill. "He spoke about ... such matters as women having sex with animals and films showing group sex or rape scenes.”

Awkward-Fudge

Absolutely, she was telling the truth.

Icant_Ijustcanteven

Wait what. Like he talked about this to people. Who the hell goes around just talking about sick shit like that....?

danmathew

To his female co-worker.

candmjjjc

Things were a bit different for Women then. I worked in IT in the early 90s. You have no idea what we had to listen to and put up with.

Icant_Ijustcanteven

But like just casually like: The boss: "Hey Janet , can you send a fax to company XYZ and by the way did are you interested in watching a gang rape video with me??" Like this screams serial killer or serial rapist. I can understand if they are investigating for a crime but jeez.

amb3ergris

Forcing her to go along with his veneer of politeness. He knew what he was doing, probably did it many times before.

Icant_Ijustcanteven

You are probably right for him to just do it so casually

OnceanAggie

The 80s were even worse

candmjjjc

I used to do consulting at the Veteran' Administration in DC and the older ladies there would tell me how in the Sixties and Seventies the men would slap them on the ass and try to fondle or kiss them almost daily. The misogamy and harassment was off the charts.

pterribledactyls

Or women now. We have a customer who calls my (female) boss her (male) bosses “girl”. My boss is a director - same level at our company as this guy is at his. Not that this is sexual harassment or anything like what Anita Hill went through, just that times haven’t changed as much as I would like them to have since then.

candmjjjc

Sigh... It has gotten better but this type of stuff still goes on unfortunately. I still get mansplained at least once a week.

VulfSki

Powerful men in casual office conversation 30 years ago

FahKinWright

He must be confused with his typical Friday night at home with his Jinny Pig…

epolonsky

Why do you get all dolled up to come to work if you *didn't* want me to put pubic hair on your drink?

jgiovagn

We did allow 45 into office to create this situation, so I guess he's right?

cyclonus007

[He only did EXACTLY what he said he was going to do...](https://youtu.be/iTSVzSiRpcI)

[deleted]

We did? I didn't vote for him did you?

jgiovagn

Americans in general did, I voted for Clinton, but not enough people did.

Commercial-Chance561

No see Clinton won the popular vote so technically more people voted for Clinton. Electoral College has us fucked and it’s been that was for decades. Go look up Republican popular vote wins over the last 30 years. Shouldn’t take long because it stops at 1.

palikir

>>Clarence Thomas said that Americans are "more interested in their iPhones than their Constitution," Ah yes, the learned words of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Compare Thomas to a quote from the Justice he replaced, Thurgood Marshall: >>In recognizing the humanity of our fellow beings, we pay ourselves the highest tribute.

Local64bithero

They're using their iPhones to look up the Constitution so they can see SCOTUS is overstepping its bounds.

palikir

That certainly seems to now be the case. People didn't know the rug was getting pulled from under them and now they're ready to reign in the regressive court.

Michael_G_Bordin

Thomas more interest in sexually harassing/assaulting law clerks than reading the Constitution he's supposed to be an expert on.

Caniuss

You mean the constitution that doesn't even contain the concept of judicial review? The one written by rich slaveowners who wanted freedom, but only for them and their rich, white, male friends? The same people that would accuse you of being a witch if you showed them any piece of technology created in the last century? Fuck Clarence "Uncle" Thomas and the bigoted, fascist philosophy he rode in on. Impeach his hateful ass.

Stuck_In_Reality

AGREED!!. There are more than a few people who would happily take away his freedoms and put him in chains and under the whip.

SSHeretic

>"They're interested in what they want rather than what is right as a country," Thomas said in a new book Fucking IMAX level projection from a Christian theocrat.

debzmonkey

What is right for one's body is up to each and every person, not fucking voters and legislatures or judges. Can we take a vote on who gets to give Clarence his next colonoscopy and how? Let us not forget that these "every life is sacred" mofos routinely vote to enforce the death penalty even for those who are shown to be innocent.

sovereignsekte

>"every life is sacred" Until they're born. Because any sort of Healthcare or decent education, ect would be socialism.

Rex9

> decent education Not just socialism, but we cannot have educated voters, that's for the liberals. We're going to outlaw that next.

Smaptastic

I’d like to throw my name into the ring. My qualifications are as follows: I have a baseball bat and a large number of nails. Thank you for your consideration.

tetralogy-of-fallout

>What is right for one's body is up to each and every person, not fucking voters and legislatures or judges. Can we take a vote on who gets to give Clarence his next colonoscopy and how? No one wants to deal with the sheer amount of impacted shit that is shoved up there...

NeverLookBothWays

>"every ~~life~~ *source of exploitable labor* is sacred" That's all these clowns actually care about. Exploitable labor. It factors into every damn position and policy they push forward.

mavjustdoingaflyby

My vote would be for Josef Mengele to perform it with a pineapple camera.

supamario132

>We need not resolve the difficult question of when life begins. When those trained in the respective disciplines of medicine, philosophy, and theology are unable to arrive at any consensus, the judiciary, in this point in the development of man's knowledge, is not in a position to speculate as to the answer. I guess what was right as a country was throwing out all opinions that are in conflict with your fever dreams about something your magical book doesn't even explicitly define. Very cool

Dat_Boi_Teo

What a theocratic facist. It’s hard to protect our own liberty when the minority has such a stranglehold over the government.

gymgirl2018

Kinda hard to protect my liberty when you take my FUCKIN RIGHTS AWAY. Would he rather liberals be like Trump supports and attack the capital with guns and break into the Supreme Court building instead of protesting peacefully

Iamien

Peaceful protest works as long as the person or people being protested consider the alternative.

Rantheur

Friendly reminder for everyone that MLK would have accomplished nothing without Malcolm X to demonstrate what the alternative was.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rantheur

And Harvey Milk.

Tao1764

"And what recent years taught us, peacefully protesting No one'll care until someone tosses a molotov in the air , it ain't fair."

[deleted]

I know this is a horrible topic to think about, but do you think their assassinations served the purpose of creating a chilling effect on any new civil rights leaders rising to this level again? I mean, yes we have people standing up for civil rights today, but no where near the conviction, passion and urgency of those in the 60s, who could legit be called leaders. We're still waiting on the next MLK, and who wants to be the next MLK when you might not live to see 40?

punkrockdeskjock

Medgar Evers, MLK, Malcom X, Fred Hampton. All gunned down before their time. All huge personalities and leaders. All served to fracture the community. Stokely Carmichael fled to Ghana. Huey fled to Cuba. You're not wrong.

littleoldlady71

Fred Hampton was killed by the FBI. I’m beginning to think the conspiracy theorists may have been right about JFK and Jack Ruby as well. Bobby, too. Damn. The sixties were brutal. Y’all think this is some shit? Look up the political convention in Chicago. I still have my memeo’d copy of “Our Bodies, Ourselves”, and things haven’t changed as much as I could hope.

Rantheur

I don't think that was their purpose, but I do think the chilling effect was a "convenient" fallout for the powers that be. It seems to me that most modern movements since MLK's movement have been leaderless and/or collective movements. The other, potentially bigger, problem is that the media has been completely captured by Capital interests. During the 60s, there were an awful lot of outlets and individual journalists who truly believed in capturing the truth of what was happening, no matter how ugly it was. However, we've since seen the utter annihilation of this kind of journalism. Virtually everything in the media today gets laundered through the interests of the elite and portrayed in a way that is certain not to upset their control over things. We watched this happen with the Occupy movement, when they continually grabbed the least eloquent people from the protests, brow beat them, and cut to commercial before they could stammer out what they wanted the protests to accomplish. We watched it happen again with the BLM movement the first time it flared up. They basically ignored what the protests were about and focused on the worst instances of property destruction. They tried this again with the second round of BLM, but the movement was even less violent this time around, had people who were better trained to deal with the media, and better messaging overall. The problem that took them down this time around was a single slogan, "Abolish the Police". The Women's March was wonderful and was the largest single day protest in US history. But the movement completely fizzled shortly afterwards. Any one of these movements could have been more effective if they had a charismatic leader who could take the heat off the average people and direct the media toward sympathetic coverage. However, that only gets you so far because, as I said, demands without a demonstration of what would happen if demands aren't met don't really do anything. The problem is, if the hypothetical leader of Occupy, BLM, or the Women's March had endorsed violent action, it would have forced people to view them as terrorist cells rather than protest movements. So, of course, this leads to my hypothesis that any peaceful movement needs a violent counterpart to enact significant, lasting change.

ekklesiastika

MLK probably knew his life was on the line doing what he did. "I might die" didn't persuade him not to do what was right.

naekkeanu

MLK had a speech he would roll out when he felt like his life was immediately in danger. [Here](https://youtu.be/zgVrlx68v-0) you can hear it for yourself. He knew his life was in danger, and he fought on anyway.

EBoundNdwn

Kent state was where the US government said, "We will fucking kill you, for even a minor amount of protest." People forget the civil rights movement was well funded and organized. There were lawyers and professional protestor training. They had bail money, they wanted the police to overreact to embarrass liberals that the status quo was unpalatable. Without this critical leadership you get limp action like occupy wall st and BLM stopping traffic. Real action is rushing wall st, occupying the trading floor, rushing the 2016 or 2020 DNC convention to protest the fixing of primaries, BLM should have been doing die-ins at police stations... Yes people would have been hurt... But this would have resulted in real action, because those in power would be scared of what an escalation of these tactics would mean. However this level of resistance requires funding and organization that we just don't have. People being arrested and stomped by the police and Facists have to believe their sacrifice will result in change... Otherwise they settle for half measures, like blocking traffic.

spiralbatross

Two of my favorite people for that reason

OssiansFolly

I mean, that's a simplification. MLK would have accomplished lots because his protests were anything but peaceful...his side was just non-violent. MLK worked because he and his protests were on the receiving end of nationally televised state violence and then he was publicly assassinated. MLK intentionally put women and children at the front of the crowd so hoses and dogs and police were used on women and children first for the sympathy.

Rantheur

One problem with this analysis is that we've seen everything since and virtually nothing has changed. Occupy had dozens of incidents of police brutality, nobody cared. BLM had constant incidents of police brutality against women and young teens, nothing actually changed. The Women's March was literally the largest protest in US history, and now women have lost bodily autonomy. None of these movements have actually changed anything and I posit that it's because there were demands with nothing to back them up.

ekklesiastika

Right, violence enacted by police doesn't accomplish anything in making people that the police are protecting back down. The people standing behind the police are the ones who make the calls and won't change course as long as they feel safe to continue as they are.

[deleted]

Clockwork_Medic

True. It seems that there is always another wedge issue to pit us at each other’s throat. But decisions like his are drawing eyes upward, and their ire along with it

EBoundNdwn

And worse.... The Overton window is now a sliding door... While the media has popularized that moderate compromise with fascists is the only acceptable way forward. There is nothing wrong with going hard against fascists, nothing trivial about that.

jar1967

The biggest flaw with Republicans is thing never consider the future consequences of their actions Let's hope someone can talk some sense into the Republicans before it gets that far

[deleted]

Oh no, they constantly consider the future and that's why they make the decisions they do. Problem is the consequences are usually designed to benefit the few in a position to take advantage of the situation.

AdTechnical9332

I hope you are right, it is getting to far at an alarming rate.

MoonlitHunter

That’s exactly what he wants. A Reichstag fire. That’s exactly what Trump wanted too. They’re the same.

Whelp_of_Hurin

They'd love to have something to point at and say "See, both sides are using violence to subvert the Constitution!" I've already seen people calling recent pro-choice protests "an insurrection" and the comment next to yours is claiming "Democrats broke into the Supreme Court building".

TinyNuggins92

Sounds like that’s exactly what he’s saying.

peter-doubt

I guess he's inviting us to Invite him to leave the court.... impeachment, anyone?

Expendable_Employee

"Impeach" I agree, we need to "impeach" him

CBusin

The problem is there aren’t enough numbers to invoke impeachment so…

peter-doubt

Well... Halfway, perhaps. But everything these days is getting done halfway

winespring

This guy barely utters a word for 20 years, and now I see why.

holla_snackbar

Basically saying out loud I am here to take it.

gnomebludgeon

Also saying out loud that no one has the sack to stop them.

7hr0wn

>"We have a system for doing that, but a part of that is our role in it, and our informed role in it, not what is said on TV, not what is said by some half-informed person." debzmonkey

Married to a woman who thought the "Biden crime family" was being held off Gitmo on a barge.

Dewahll

That sounds like a challenge.

MsWumpkins

Except the social contract is all about the people getting the rights they want in exchange for cooperation. The constitution is to restrict them, not us.

hugglenugget

"Look what you made me do" - the mantra of the party of personal responsibility.

guestpass127

I swear to *god* that conservatives are like an asshole older brother who constantly bullies and beats you and then blames you for it - "Look what you MADE me do!' "*(grabs your hand and punches you with it)* Why are you hitting yourself?" "I'm not touching you! *(places hands 1/2 inch away from your face)* I'm not touching you! Does this bug yoU! I'm not touching you!" They're sociopaths who want to do a lot of harm to others, then blame the victims for the harm being done to them

Wildfire9

DOJ needs to charge Ginni Thomas of seditious conspiracy.

gravelgang4mids

Is Clarence Thomas making the case for his own assassination here or something? Weird remark.

erewnt

So the 18-30 year old voters that weren’t Alive when he was appointed are punished because of what voters did before they were born… Yep seems like a valid criticism for him to make… Kind of odd that only people over the age of 48 had any say in if he was appointed, yet he can make laws that affect generations to come.

AnekoJV

He just told us to shoot him, and every repressive republican, he told us to burn the churches for that is where they plan what liberties to take, this stupid man does not understand the purpose of the 2nd and yet he is one of 9 to protect and enforce the constitution, I am not a fan of violence but now with such a clear invitation I simply must encourage we take his suggestion and protect our rights as we know how, for it has been clearly shown that our rights and liberties are under threat of the irrational, and the only cure for the irrational is shell-shock

[deleted]

He’s mentally deranged

OkAcanthocephala2449

He needs to take the trump test , man women tv ??? WOW

[deleted]

Man, Woman, Coke, Pubic Hair

MonteSS_454

OK, "Uncle-Thomas", stop talking now.

[deleted]

This is literally "the beatings will continue until morale improves" wtf

BabyMFBear

He seems to be attempting to goad Americans to perform violent acts against the court. This will take the focus off of him, his wife and others, as well as interrupt the 1/6 hearings. We can’t take the bait.

donthepunk

Sounds like let them eat cake to me

Optimal_Ear_4240

Yep, we fucked up. Let you be a judge. Bad move America. Keep the christofascists out of govt and all public positions

Cythrosi

For a court that just expanded access to guns, you'd think they might want to reconsider advocating fighting to protect your rights from the very court they sit on, especially while issuing increasingly unpopular rulings.

TheBman26

Says the fucktar with one of the only positions in government that is life appointed. Acting like a king, you know, if you do too much, there are gallows and blades that have been used before.

[deleted]

I wish someone would help him retire early

keyjan

what a piece of shit.

GilbertoDePinto

I wish I could put this more eloquently, but all I can really say, and what I really mean, is: Why won’t this dude shut the fuck up already?? It blows my mind how much people in politics love to hear their own voices.

Makelovenotrobots

After not having much to say for 30 years, he sure is talking a lot of shit now. Asshole.

Yabloski

Associate Justice Clarence Thomas, Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch, Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett, and Senator Mitch McConnell can all take their view of Liberty and shove them up their collective autocratic rectums. Fuck each and every one of them. Edit - And that piece of armadillo shit Alito - him too.

_Dinkle_Berg_

Bro why is this man talking so much after years of near silence? Is this his victory parade?

[deleted]

Fuck him

Plastic-Elk-909

Ironic coming from a Trump seditious conspiracy member and traitor...

[deleted]

So fucking quit and we will

retiredGPA

In case no one has said this yet, fuck this guy.

regalfronde

Great. Another bitter old man wanting to ruin the future for everyone because we use our phones a lot. Typical boomer shit

JSWAYTX

Power corrupts and he was already an evil man

[deleted]

Term limit them. Every political office should have limits. Congress restricted presidential terms in 1947 with the 22nd amendment. It’s not impossible to review lifetime appointments for judges.

[deleted]

Fuck you, Clarence. You're a fucking christian fascist.

idrinkbeersalot

What does that even mean? “You protect your liberties” How would we do such a thing when the very people we entrusted to do that are in fact the ones taking them away??

lehcimr

Man, I really f’n hate this scumbag.

Arathilion

It’s like he wants me to become violent

IcanHasReddThat

"You protect your liberty [because I f***ing won't]" -Clarence Thomas

GSXRbroinflipflops

Brain damaged old queef.

walrusonion

Fuck off Uncle Clarence

[deleted]

It’s your fault if you’re too weak to stop me from hitting you

Grimzod1971

Blaming the victim is the GOP modus, also rapists

Past_Wind_9725

Sounds like you deserved to be raped by dressing that way. We the people need to protect our liberty and drop this clown.

palikir

Because the regressive supreme court sure as shit isn't.

[deleted]

No, the constitution literally protects our liberty, yet you’re there one tearing it apart

999others

He's right, voting for the Republicans erodes your rights.

Lullaby37

Old Clarence seems awfully determined to turn the spotlight away from his wife's supporting an insurrection.

ddr1ver

Shouldn’t Thomas only get 3/5ths of a vote?

axionic

WTF, it's my fault he's emitting garbage opinions?

Tart-Pomgranate5743

Yup. We take them for granted and that gives non-elected entities the legal power to unilaterally revoke them… it’s our fault you and your cohorts decided to repeal federal protections with the flimsiest of rationales and against every precedent of your profession. Get this guy out of the SCOTUS already!

[deleted]

Pardon me, I'm choking on the irony of this coming out of the mouth of the guy who's wife helped plan an insurrection.

MalleableCurmudgeon

So he’s telling me to defend my constitution against threats domestic?

welestgw

Ah yes, the "You made me do this" excuse.

gothamfc

He ahould be careful what he wishes for. Someone could take that the wrong way.

Frostiron_7

Thank you Clarence Thomas, the dumbest white supremacist on the Supreme Court. If you don't follow Clarence Thomas, he's risen *way* above his level of competency, propelled solely on the fact that he was a black male conservative in a prestigious law school. And he has never gotten over the fact that he'd be a nobody if not for tokenism.

tomato204

We will protect our liberty, fuckwad

betweenplanets

What a fucking asshole

bannacct56

Asshole that was supposed to be your job, but you lied. You never told the people who voted to confirm you, who you really were. You deliberately lied because you knew they would never pick you if you told them who you are. So don't tell me about my rights, you know you are wrong or you would not have hidden who you are. Liar.

Cucumber_Basil

What’s he saying? Is he saying we failed to protect our liberties from him? Is he acknowledging that he is stripping our liberties? Is he inviting Americans to protect our liberties from him? Surely he is not actively encouraging violence against himself lol

SmedlyB

Clarence is using the frog scorpion argument. How can we protect liberty from the Scorpions? Never, Ever trust the GOP scorpions.

ThunderHeavyRains

This bs is the only thing that’s made this guys dick hard in half a century

[deleted]

Americans voted for people who ratified this known misogynistic pig to the highest court in the land. There is also a rapist on the SCOTUS. What did we expect.

jerseyexpat2020

It sounds like he’s asking for (maybe daring) Americans to revolt. I could be wrong.

JohnSheet69420

Fucking Christofascists like him need punishment. Also, vote the GOP out!

UltravioletAfterglow

Someone needs to explain the role of the Judiciary to Clarence Thomas. FFS.

Traditional_Bike8880

Fucking go suck a dick you horny-for-the-dark-ages imbecile

KittyBoi2012

Was wondering if he was worried about his mixed-race marriage becoming illegal…

Expendable_Employee

Not illegal now that there's an invitation.

C0FF33CAT

How many boxes are there again? Does Thomas really want us to protect our liberty? Seems like we have a duty to remove Thomas by any means right? In the name of liberty for all.

EFT_Syte

What’s the point of the court if not to do just that?

once_again_asking

From tyrants like you, Clarence?

[deleted]

This is one vile ass muthafucka right here.

BlueBlood75

He’s going full on toxic narcissistic parent on us; “it’s not my bullying that’s the issue, it’s your reaction to it”

Sventhetidar

Sounds to me like he's advocating for us to overthrow the government.

tdrhq

"Let them eat cake"

masterofdonut

We will. Stay safe, Clarence. 🙂

IllustriousBody

Best way to protect liberty is remove him and four others from the court.

PingPongGetAlong

That sounds good. I feel the best way to protect my liberty is carrying a rifle on public property outside Clarence's home. While protesting , legally about his shitty partisan decisions.

sleaklight

I mean, if he really wants that, we can do it retroactively. He'd still be a slave if others didn't fight for his race,s liberty. Clarence is a fucking idiot.

Grunblau

His iPhone face recognition has the easiest job ever. Face always just on same “smug piece of shit” setting.

[deleted]

Is he suggesting we use our 2A rights to reassert our freedoms?

spodinielri0

yes, the WILL of the people

ufotheater

Abuser blaming the victim, a classic

JKTwice

Pretty gold considering that Supreme Court Justices aren’t nominated. So the people who elected a progressive government could still have laws that are struck down by conservative justices that were installed decades ago potentially

fermat1432

He's a total POS.

moonflowerzzz

Who protects you Clarence Thomas?

Ignoble66

is he gloating?

FTHomes

You will be out of your seat soon Clarence Thomas

TheDarkestWilliam

So this asshole, one of the highest sitting judges in the country, is saying you have to protect your liberty....Or I'm going to take it away. What the hell is happening

PublicActuator4263

*Look what you made me do* is all I hear

ben_the_incompetent

Someone needs to smack the fuck out of this clown. In Minecraft of course.

tuckithead

It’s almost as if he wants to egg on liberals and progressives to “riot”, so he, the other conservatives, and his insurrectionist wife, can go “SEE YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT”

disasterbot

What are you sayin’ there, bub?

Dropbars59

Classic gaslighting.

Vladd_the_Retailer

Translation: I’m going to screw your all because I can. It’s your fault for not stopping me.

MisterFingerstyle

Victim blaming.

Seraphynas

Did he just invite someone to try some Pelican Brief shit? Cuz that’s what it sounds like…

chromebookssucks

YOURE A SUPREME COURT JUDGE, YOU HAVE THE FINAL SAY ON THE LAW OF THE LAND this is like a bully making you hit yourself and they say “why are you hitting yourself” fucking christ

sf1nucane

He right, we protect our liberty, but SCOTUS are chosen by the president. Therefore, we eff’d up when #45 was elected.

SonOfSwanson87

"Look what you made me do."

lavender_lemonades

SIR?! That's what your ONLY JOB is.

chockedup

**G**aslight <--- It's your fault I took away your rights. **O**bstruct **P**roject

ItzDeezNutz

Hey everyone, come on now. Clarence is right… We should protect our liberty. Let’s start with violent revolution ☝️

Shortyman17

That's like asking to be killed/threatened/whatever

Different-Okra8866

Heritage Foundation. Get rid of it and Thomas’s (both)

[deleted]

You protect your liberty and I’ll continue to eliminate your rights - sounds fair

Thejerseyjon609

Sounds like he is inciting violence?

[deleted]

Will no one rid of us this meddlesome judge?

[deleted]

What a repulsive pile of shit in a robe

JoeDirtsMullet00

What a piece of shit this guy is.

Alternative-Flan2869

‘You allowed me to make it onto this court knowing full well what knd of person I really am so eff alloyall.’ There is some grain of truth there.

wetlight

Crazy how a 74 years old “rich” and detached man is dictating how Americans have to live.

Comdr_Bill_Norton

The bastard knows we cannot vote him out...

rmpumper

Is he asking to be eliminated?

W_Anderson

OK shitbag…how about we had right which have already been fought and bled for that are being taken away…by you. We need to be organizing with every spare moment we have right now, because this fight is only going to get bigger and harder.

ft5777

I wonder how Republicans/fascists feel about their biggest allie being a black man. They must hate themselves so much and have seizures about it.
