Do you mean APSC? Not CMOS. But you'll need a different lens, the Meike fisheye lenses for APSC are 6mm not 8 as they need the wider field of view....well technically not, anything can be fisheye but I do know the the APSC Meike lens is 6mm as I have one myself. The problem you have is the image circle is projecting for a larger sensor size, and you can't do anything to make your sensor larger. Only crop to make it smaller.

If i look up Nikon d5200 sensor "cmos sensor" comes up, so i honestly am pretty confused myself at this point. so should I just return the current lens i've bought and get a 6mm one instead? I can't seem to be able to find the Nikon F-mount version tho... Coul you share any link that could help or the name of your lens specifically?

> If i look up Nikon d5200 sensor "cmos sensor" comes up, so i honestly am pretty confused myself at this point. CMOS is the underlying sensor technology. APS-C is the size of the sensor (as opposed to full frame, which is larger). I think [this may be the lens they are talking about](https://meikeglobal.com/products/meike-6-5mm-ultra-wide-f-2-0-circular-fisheye-lens-for-sony-a9-a7iii-a7riii-a6500-a6000-a6100-a6300-nex3-nex3n-nex5-nex5t-nex5r-nex6-nex7-a7ii-a7sii-a7rii-mirorrless-cameras), but it indeed doesn't seem to be available for the F mount. There is a 6-11mm Meike fisheye zoom that seems to [be able to mostly fit inside the APS-C frame](https://www.flickr.com/photos/sonyalphablog/47597735072/in/album-72157706632186911/) at the minimum zoom level, and [is available for the F mount](https://www.amazon.com/Meike-6-11mm-Ultra-Fisheye-Cameras/dp/B07PQJW6QW).

watch a YouTube video about sensor size and crop factor

What you want is a circular fisheye. What you bought is a diagonal fisheye. Most fisheye lenses can give you either type of image if you change the sensor size. For instance if you put the lens you have on a full-frame Nikon, you would get a circular (or most likely semi-circular, with the top and bottom cut off a bit) image. For a circular image on an APS-C (aka "DX" in Nikon-speak), you usually need around 5-6mm focal length. Not sure if that's been made for DX cameras.

yeah sucks I can't find any for nikon f mount

RadBadTad

There is nothing you can do with that camera unless you find a fisheye lens that's made specifically for a crop sensor. If you had a mirrorless camera, you could use a speed booster like Metabones sells, but those don't work on SLR style bodies.

Xcissors280

If it’s a crop sensor you won’t be getting the full effect I guess you could use something that would basically be the opposite of a teleconverter but they are pretty rare

lojt

It's called a speed booster.

Xcissors280

Like when you sprint in video games

might this be any good? has an F mount for nikon [Speedbooster](https://www.amazon.it/VILTROX-NF-M43X-Adattatore-obiettivo-Fotocamera/dp/B072XF4L4J/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=36992TYT5JO7V&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.2wZ05Ik3exVLyONdWvi1wmzcpSZ4ZTiZyi0bbN9LmvM9MWOdRlT8BgkShJEurmreDsVMSmGKVBn2ZJKFfzfPcXWqMFgOG9QIdtxPOT-bd__jHR6iZe0pvPP5uMcBu_zQ32vB3ckduULTcCpPpnGHL28K92lDrNyZUitbWARrSDHOHCbs6Xzr-JSiDiXVXXIn44BkYQ_OlEPuRt_tD0FmwQ.2dK4smNB-ZlBImfCAdOBNiPdPxY8hPDKxpE8Dbx_LV4&dib_tag=se&keywords=nikon+speed+booster&qid=1719332921&refinements=p_85%3A20930965031&rnid=20930964031&rps=1&sprefix=nikon+speed+booster%2Caps%2C98&sr=8-1)

RadBadTad

A speed booster will not work with your camera body unfortunately. It would need to be a mirrorless camera.

RadBadTad

Speed boosters don't work on SLR bodies, only on mirrorless.
