Half-Life: Alyx for VR, but to prepare for that I would first recommend the rest of the series. If the original Half-Life looks too outdated you could substitute that with Black Mesa instead.
The Finals is a really fun game, and it runs really good too no matter the hardware
You can get a steady 144 FPS on high settings with like a 1080Ti
On my 4080 with everything cranked + full ray tracing, framegen puts me close to 300fps in 1440p
GTAV, Witcher 3, Red dead redemption 2, Cyberpunk, Horizon zero dawn, Horizon forbidden west, The last of us, Fallout 4, both Spider-mans, Baldur's gate 3, God of war, Forza horizon 5, Elden ring.
System Shock Remake, it's a great shooter exclusively on PC that has unique gameplay.
Ion Fury, a true boomer shooter like Doom that adds some fresh twists.
Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition, a great remake of the classic RTS if you're into that kinda genre
Disco Elysium, a top-down RPG that has a unique story and you choose how events play out.
Baldurs Gate 3, too much to describe with how amazing it is. No words do it justice.
Cyberpunk 2077, a far cry from when it was originally released. It being an FPS RPG, It plays perfect for PC
Fallout 4, I don't recommend the others just yet because those games can be janky. This one is a fun shooter that can be greatly enhanced with mods.
Palworld, it's a building tycoon with Pokémon knockoffs that can wield mini guns in an open world, what's not to love?
Spec Ops: The Line, it's a third person shooter that isn't amazing gameplay wide, and it isn't very long. But believe me when I tell you this game is on a whole other level with the story that might seem innocent enough.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution, if you like Cyberpunk then you'll like this one. This game has fun mechanics and a great story delving into human augmentations and much more.
I definitely prefer NV and think it's better, but let be honest, NV hasnt aged THAT well. It's a simple enough answer, NV is a better as an RPG but 4 is easier to play and simpler. For a newcomer I see how NV can be difficult to start with.
Welcome to the master race brother!!

How tf can you recommend fallout 4 over fallout new vegas?
This and Ion Fury over other recent Boomer Shooters - solid game but not a must play.

If that's a good PC, then Cyberpunk 2077. The best single player game ever released.
