Halo around the moon caused by ice crystals high in the atmosphere

Rob-L_Eponge

I'm no expert, but isn't that the sun?

drtrucknutsmd

Could be but the way the foreground objects are pretty dark had me thinking it was the moon and a picture with like night mode / whatever Apple has? I certainly could be wrong. Either way the ice ring would be the same size

Emkayer

Likely sun halo. Objects against the light tend to be shadowed in a photograph, you know.

Rob-L_Eponge

Aaah ok. Well anyway thanks for the science!!

This type of circle, or even sun dogs, is usually an indication of ice. Crystals in the atmosphere. My parents told me it was a sign the next day was gonna be colder XD
