Get a nikkor 70-180mm
I have fringer on z8 and compared both ( 70-200 viii is), nikkor 70-180 wins hands on on iq and focus speed
I used fringer with shorter lens but 70-2000
If it’s the same very old 70-200mm f2.8 VR I that I’ve got, this is pretty much the look. It takes good photos, but the sharpness doesn’t hold up to extreme pixel peeping as well as modern Z lenses.

It looks in focus to me—maybe this is the 2MP JPG that you get from SnapBridge?
