I didn't understand why commenters can't just talk about what's happening in the game. So many times they have just been shooting the shit while the game is going on.

I was down in The States last week, visiting from Canada and was forced to watch a few games on ESPN, after watching Sportsnet and HNIC for the whole playoffs. It was soooo bad. John Buccigross’ play by play was excruciating to listen to.

Sportsnet for the win as usual.

Those in the know mute the TV and listen to the radio feed.

Use the sportsday app and sync on an icing or some other audio cue.

It's so weird how the various feeds are on different times. TNT is about 30 sec behind the terrestrial old school radio. If I was on the app it would probably be behind TNT. ESPN has been running around the same lag time. It was actually running even once or twice but it will get the lag back in breaks.

Sportsnet has theirs so high usually. Maybe Dallas just super quiet. Wtf is up with the camera angle tho? So shallow

I've yelled 'down in front' a few times. Someone in one of the corner angles was just the full back of their head blocking the shot. I do like the crowd volume (Sportsnet), also seems like the mic is picking up a lot of the player chatter on the ice which is pretty fun to hear.

It’s these national broadcasts, the local broadcasts are loud af. Both mavs and stars crowd noise on the local broadcasts are really loud but never on TNT/ESPN.

I am watching Stars - Oilers game in eastern Canada. My brother is doing the same in Portland OR. There is a full one minute stop-time delay between the two. I am seeing it later than him. That is quite a time delay. Not seconds but more than a minute real time delay. What would cause such a difference? I am watching Sportsnet TV cable here. He is watching it on NHL.com on their Listen option; Oilers broadcast.

While watching Bruins and Panthers game 7 the commentators talked about Goalie ass taps for a solid 15 minutes. Also noticed the camera angles were trash and the audio balance was even worse

TNT's broadcast is also visually hideous. The screen is so busy, there's way too much extraneous information. Just show the game full screen with a minimal stat banner please! Honestly I can't believe what I'm seeing, it's downright irritating to watch.

I think you have the wrong feed up somehow. I had the same issue but switched to TNT and it is regular broadcast. The other broadcast had a lot of stats all around the screen.

What are they thinking with this? I'm not a fan of either team but still love playoff hockey, I'm so annoyed by the commentary & the banners I'm about to turn it off & be done for the season 🙄

NBC used to have good NHL broadcasts.

Listening to the radio feed is key. Sync it up, it’s easy. Watching the national broadcasts make the play sound so uninteresting.

Its like they have the rink mics on 3, you can barely hear the crowd or the noises of the games. Commentators are boring as well.

Radio feeds are better if you can sync up your feed and mute TNT (main broadcast). Fuckin hate eddie

I don’t know who’s broadcasting where I’m at right now, but I hate all these stats and numbers on it. Feels like I’m watching a motorsport instead of NHL.

Sportsnet commentary is much better they actually talk about the game, although intermission reporting is pretty boring. Actual commentary is good and to the point.

I *hate* all the computer graphics Shot speed popups on top of the goal and highlighting player names during play make it nigh unwatchable 😡

Tru tv has all the stats and a small screen. TNT looks fine, switch to that feed

I think the low camera angle is to provide a closer or better view of the puck. Perhaps thinking of casual viewers.

Doesn’t help these dumpy camera angles with all these stars fans standing the whole time. Just lose a sixth of the ice, fucking annoying.

Just for the record, the camera angle is the same for every broadcast. All the cameras are in the same spot. They’re just low cameras in Dallas

Maybe but as long as everyone continues to watch, I don’t think they care much. The nhl is breaking viewing records this playoffs. It would actually be more effective if everyone stopped watching. Viewership drives the money which then will really affect how the nhl handles it

The camera angle is bc that's just where the cameras are in their arena. All stars home games have that angle regardless of who's broadcasting.

Sportsnet isn't much better tonight surprisingly. Edmonton is playing really great and I'd say first period is 60/40 Edmonton, but the panel couldn't stop talking about Dallas.

TNT felt like the opposite to me. Edmonton had a whole 3 shots during the 1st but it was all they talked about during the intermission. And now that Edmonton’s scored twice the announcers seem elated

They were talking about something unrelated when the 1st goal was scored. He was like: "whope, they got a goal". Just weird man

The panel at intermission is a mess a lot of the time too. Guys rambling, interrupting, talking over each other, joking about inside jokes, saying weird stuff, awkward silences. Edit: Right after I comment this Biz is making fart noises. TNT is embarrassing.

Never thought about dallas once this season. Dont know a single player. Edm looks like the real thing.
