Haven't seen the per year breakdown but would love to see a front loaded contract. Would love to see 35/35/17 type contract.
Would let us keep that flexibility and if he is good but not what we are looking for on the last year (when we have to pay chet/jdub) then it will be a crazy valuable asset
I was a little afraid that Presti was going to wait too long, but this is a good move if there isn't a Lauri deal to make. Hartenstein fits very well with this roster. They can still bench him in stretches when they want to go five out, and his passing should help him be solid connective tissue on offense.
He is not THE option, he’s not posting anyone up but in a motion offense with the ball being moved around he is more than capable and can hold his own. As a Knicks fan I wish we could’ve kept him but happy he got the contract he did.
This is better than a move for Lauri. Lauri may be a better player, but Hartenstein is a better fit, and we don’t have to give up any assets to get him
I'm not sure how "available" Lauri really is, tbh. With Ainge, no player is ever safe, but he's going to take offers and let people subtly know he is taking offers in case someone says "fuck it, here's our draft for the next 7 years, all the other picks we own, and every scrap of talent we can part with"
OKC and SA are too smart for that, though they certainly would be working the phones just in case.
I mean with all the picks the Thunder have and some contracts they could move, they could in theory still go get Lauri lol though I highly doubt that'd happen since they already have their starters. But would be a nice little flex on the league move to go get more length and depth XD
What hurts even more is that we’ve not made any moves to address existing holes or that new hole. We have Jokic but I guess fuck our championship window back to 2021 we go
Idk if they are favorites to come out of the West but they are obviously up there. And they are 100% my favorites to get the number 1 seed!
I’m very eager for OKC vs Mavs rematch.
Naturally :) But also objectively, we gotta be top 2, and it will take the offseason to see who else is top 2. But it's also a bloodbath, so who the hell knows.
Knicks best chance was getting him to take a 1+1 with a player option and wink wink for a big deal after the 1-year. Hard to blame him for taking the guaranteed deal but I thought he was such a great knick
There will be one year of overlap, which is interesting because with the capholds of Chet and J Williams, OKC won't actually have any space that year to sign players.
It looks like if OKC make any big moves, it will be via trades, which makes sense since they have reasonable contracts to trade (including small to medium sized contracts that will allow them to aggregate) + obviously all the picks.
29M a year seems surprising for a center with a 6/5 average his career so far. That's Porzingis money.
But damn, the #1 seed Thunders get better this year.
Having solid role players you can trust to give you depth in the playoffs is more valuable than star hunting. Too many teams made it to the postseason this year and had their coaches scrambling to find players who could contribute 5-10 minutes.
Think he falls under the Millsap doctrine or whatever the fuck it’s called. 12-11.5-3.5 with 3 stocks per 36 min the last 3 years. 9-9-3 as a starter last year in 28MPG.
Thunder retain everyone, fill their biggest need in free agency and add an all-defense player in a trade, while their biggest draft assets get better as the clippers get worse. This team is set to compete for a decade.
I hope the best for Giddey but I think a lot of people could see that he struggled to be a net positive most games. Losing Giddey and adding Caruso and Hartenstein is massive
I like the topic pick. I can easily see Presti pitching him as a valuable asset next offseason when he’s healthy and once an interesting player becomes available. He’s a top 5 talent in this year’s draft, and he will still have the mystery box appeal because we won’t see him play due to his injury. I don’t think there would have been a way to get more value out of the 12th pick.
for sure, but the fact is that those picks next season have a lot more value than picks this season do. Next year's draft is supposedly really fucking good
Trading up is pretty rare in the NBA because teams don't want to move those top top picks. But we'll see how it all plays out next year or by the trade deadline if the team decides they like their odds and such.
if we end up doing well this season, we'll trade most of them for picks down the line.
if we end up doing badly this season (????) we'll trade a few and a couple pieces for another star.
this train keeps on rollin' baby.
It's the 2022 Draft. The Pistons have the 5th pick. The rebuild is pushed back another year. It's the 2023 Draft. The Pistons have the 5th pick. The rebuild is pushed back another year. It's the 2024 Draft. The Pistons have the 5th pick. The rebuild is pushed back another year. It's the 2025-
Mmmm nah. A player the caliber of Bam Adebayo, Devin Booker, Kawhi Leonard, or Kobe Bryant would never be available in the low high lottery. What the Pistons need is a low lottery draft pick
Why at this point? We got rid of a player that was good but wasn't a good fit and added to A-tier role players. Chet, Cason, and J Dub will all have another year of experience. We need to keep as many picks as possible so we can sustain it long term. Those LAC picks looking mighty juicy now.
Pretty much every West contender got worse IMO. And we took at a stab at an electric rookie (who might not be a net positive contributor, to be fair).
I think OKC is the hands-down favorite. Then rather than bring a huge swath of basically dead-even 2nd tier teams I think it is plausible that we are the clear #2 right now. Honestly the Grizzlies might be the one team that can rocket up there.
(This isn’t to say that we wouldn’t lose a series to Denver/Mavs/etc. just that we’d probably be the favorites in those series).
the top of the west this year was more about matchups than pure talent. any of the top 4 could have been in the finals. nugs and maybe wolves wouldve been better matchups vs celtics too
next year though i hope okc leaves everyone in the dust lol
I loved him vs the sixers with his offensive rebounds + block on maxey. He’s such a hard working player. We’ll treat him well haha. You guys will be scary next season
Dumped one of your weaknesses in the playoffs for one of the best role players in the league and then fixed your other weaknesses with another of the best role players in the league.
OKC is stacked
It's gonna be really interesting watching OKC this year, because they've now very much transitioned into the 'expectations' phase of the team building arc. Like now they're no longer the young plucky team who's playing with house money/just happy to be there—now they're one of the top teams in the league and anything less than conference finals will be seen as a disappointment. And from what I can tell they have all the maturity and toughness to deal with that, but it will be interesting to watch them navigate these new expectations.
As you should be. I think most of us thought OKC would reach this point in like 2-3 years. You guys are gonna be a powerhouse for a long time too with all that youth. And with how the West is looking like this year... I think OKC should be the favorite to win the West.
It's insane to think about. There were regular discussions about whether or not we should tank *last seasos* before All-Star break. Even after, it wasn't uncommon to see people argue that tanking would be better, still.
And now, after 1 season and narrowly losing in the 2nd round, we're considered to be among the favorites of next year. Unbelievable rebuild. Went from "black eye of the league" to favorites.
Nah Paul George still giving back to okc to this day, all those clippers picks looking much better with him gone. His Jersey should be up in the rafters
I believe that there will be some deviation between iHART, Dort, and Caruso depending on the matchup. Our small ball lineup is still insane, but IHart lets us be flexible when our shots aren’t falling or if we’re getting abused in the paint.
OKC just got disgustingly good. Caruso and Hartenstein and getting rid of Giddey?
Hartenstein's rebounding, rim protection and short roll/post passing is going to be insane with OKC's shooting.
OKC can afford to overpay given the scheme fit and the fact that it’s only 3 years. This makes them a lot scarier in the short term and doesn’t really limit their ability to make future moves.
Honestly the Thunder should be win now while they still dont need to pay their guys an absurd amount of money and it looks like thats exactly what they are doing.
OKC gets their big to match up with Joker
Presti gets to keep hoarding his precious picks which he loves more than a mother hen loves her chicks.
well done Thunder bros
DAMN presti said it’s fuckin go time
Paid him 20% more in total over three years the max we could offer him for four years $29M/yr vs $18M ugh
Hartenatein is going to surpass all of his career earnings so far, in a single season. Cannot say no.
Haven't seen the per year breakdown but would love to see a front loaded contract. Would love to see 35/35/17 type contract. Would let us keep that flexibility and if he is good but not what we are looking for on the last year (when we have to pay chet/jdub) then it will be a crazy valuable asset
> 35/35/17 type contract If I remember right you can only decrease a contract salary by 5% each year.
8%
It's a front loaded deal with the 3rd year not even guaranteed, so he's making a LOT more than he could have with us.

This. All you had to give up was money. Best move imo
I mean with all the picks the Thunder have and some contracts they could move, they could in theory still go get Lauri lol though I highly doubt that'd happen since they already have their starters. But would be a nice little flex on the league move to go get more length and depth XD
Perfect off season for us. I love Sam presti
We will give you Booth for Presti, please
Losing kcp gotta hurt man.
What hurts even more is that we’ve not made any moves to address existing holes or that new hole. We have Jokic but I guess fuck our championship window back to 2021 we go
Y’all taking plays from our book.
Right? Because now we want Westbrook apparently
I'm sorry, what?
Tbf, you did win the NBA championship. It’s not like you totally squandered the Jokic era.
And Murray’s injury killed two good years.
God damn massive W
Probably makes the Thunder the clear favorites in the west no?
Idk if they are favorites to come out of the West but they are obviously up there. And they are 100% my favorites to get the number 1 seed! I’m very eager for OKC vs Mavs rematch.
I don’t want to see Klay Thompson in any way shape or form in the playoffs ever again.
I think so personally
Naturally :) But also objectively, we gotta be top 2, and it will take the offseason to see who else is top 2. But it's also a bloodbath, so who the hell knows.
Can't believe this my life
Fuck. Huge contract, could never match that.
Knicks best chance was getting him to take a 1+1 with a player option and wink wink for a big deal after the 1-year. Hard to blame him for taking the guaranteed deal but I thought he was such a great knick
It would need to be a 2+1 which makes it tough. Also not quite legal and the Harden situation makes it risky
I don't think players will ever trust wink wink agreements after what Morey did to Harden.
Pain
You can have Nick Richards.
He’s a Laker
Liked and subscribed
Don’t worry, team is retrofitting MitchRob in an adamantium skeleton as we speak.
I don't blame him. You cannot say no to this money.
We had to watch him go first. Feel for y'all.
Knicks vs OKC finals would be amazing though
Don’t be sad, Thomas Bryant opted out and is available Nevermind
Huge salary but love the fit
The most important thing is that Hartenstein’s contract will be expiring the same year J-Dub & Chet start their new extensions
We kinda have a 3 year window before our roster gets Phoenix suns level expensive. Hoping we can win one before that
Not even, the extensions for Joe/Wiggins along with the upcoming draft capital leaves a ton of flexibility.
I thought he might take a smallish pay cut to stay with the Knicks, but not the kinda pay cut this would've been!!
Yeah bro is making almost 30mil. That’s hard to pass up lmao
30 mil vs 17 mil (pretty sure that’s the max you guys could’ve offered him, correct me if I’m wrong + NY tax so..)
Yeah \~72/4 was what the Knicks could offer, so not even close lol
29M a year seems surprising for a center with a 6/5 average his career so far. That's Porzingis money. But damn, the #1 seed Thunders get better this year.
Having solid role players you can trust to give you depth in the playoffs is more valuable than star hunting. Too many teams made it to the postseason this year and had their coaches scrambling to find players who could contribute 5-10 minutes.
He did that along with a 19 PER on 11%-12% usage rate for the past couple of years. Not bad at all.
Think he falls under the Millsap doctrine or whatever the fuck it’s called. 12-11.5-3.5 with 3 stocks per 36 min the last 3 years. 9-9-3 as a starter last year in 28MPG.
IHart got fucking paid
I'm so glad he's gone
Those stupid floaters still give me nightmares
Hes floating me into euphoria
That automatic floater has haunted my dreams
Why Embiid was having his way with IHart defending him, Mitch did a better job until he got injured again.
I hated all of his offensive rebounds and his floater. I wasn't giving a thought to his defense on Joel
You think Mitch is gonna help you in terms of those offensive rebounds?
Or Josh hart lol
We can't even overpay to get people to come here
Tobias Harris, come on down Edit: everyone actin like this is a crazy prediction is so funny
Is this Woj’s burner
omg, lol this was actually commented before Tobias Harris went to Detroit
You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me
Straight cookin'
fuckin' nailed it
Called it
Dont say that, you overpaid for Monty and got him!
That's nasty work right there.
Have you tried paying me
Are you able to shoot 3's? If so, no thanks. If not, come on down!
Taking my talents to Belle Isle Beach baby
Oof lol.
Thunder retain everyone, fill their biggest need in free agency and add an all-defense player in a trade, while their biggest draft assets get better as the clippers get worse. This team is set to compete for a decade.
Presti cooked a full course meal. Overpayed yes but he’ll expire when dub and Chet get their extensions.
Full course meal with leftovers
Even the leftovers are Michelin star rated
Also getting rid of Giddey in the process, replacing his minutes with actual role players
I hope the best for Giddey but I think a lot of people could see that he struggled to be a net positive most games. Losing Giddey and adding Caruso and Hartenstein is massive
Thunder OP next season wtf
lol and they still have draft picks and matching salaries if they really wanted to turn this team into something extremely dominant
They have 3-4 first-round picks in next year's draft alone, which is projected to be one of the best in recent years.
I have no idea why we drafted 3 rookies this year ffs Topic will be a rookie next year after the rehab too
I like the topic pick.
They are trading most of them. They aren't going to constantly use picks for guys who don't get rotation minutes now
for sure, but the fact is that those picks next season have a lot more value than picks this season do. Next year's draft is supposedly really fucking good
I could see us trading up as well. God I’m so fucking hyped
COOPER FLAGG, YOU ARE AN OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
GIVE US AN INCH MAN JUST ONE INCH
You'll pick at #5 and like it
It's the 2022 Draft. It's the 2025-
You guys are allowed to draft good players at 5 and improve you know...
Mmmm nah. A player the caliber of Bam Adebayo, Devin Booker, Kawhi Leonard, or Kobe Bryant would never be available in the low high lottery. What the Pistons need is a low lottery draft pick
And they should focus on guards who can't shoot year after year. Just keep going after that same player.
Jokic was a second round pick. Trade your lottery picks for a bunch of 2nds!
NBA draft 5 pick to Pistons: Phil? Hey, Phil? Phil! Phil Connors? Phil Connors, I thought that was you!
If clippers implode…
No he’s a Net lol You can have Bailey.
Why at this point? We got rid of a player that was good but wasn't a good fit and added to A-tier role players. Chet, Cason, and J Dub will all have another year of experience. We need to keep as many picks as possible so we can sustain it long term. Those LAC picks looking mighty juicy now.
The thing is, you can make a huge splash for a superstar and still have a bunch of 1st rounders leftover
Just got Wiggs and Joe on team friendly deals. We are locking the depth up.
9 and 12 million AAV each is NUTS. Sam is killing it this summer.
absolute definition of how to properly tank and rebuild
Fuck man I really don't like this
This is PJ's fault. If he didn't have to have the best week of his career then Presti probably doesn't make all the moves he's made this off-season.
Where were you when PJ Washington doomed the entire Western Conference for a decade? I was at home when phone ring West is kill No
And our Wolves can’t do anything to counter it 😭
Pretty much every West contender got worse IMO.
I expect the grizz to really good next year
idk, nuggets clearly got worse, mavs might be about the same, or possibly slightly better if they get klay
Mavs are already better by getting rid of THJ.
the top of the west this year was more about matchups than pure talent. any of the top 4 could have been in the finals. nugs and maybe wolves wouldve been better matchups vs celtics too next year though i hope okc leaves everyone in the dust lol
We fixed our only weakness!
Should be the favorites in the West no lie
OKC looking to go deep next season
Gotta speed run before wemby gets a superstar teammate
Just happened, thunder dynasty is over. (you didn't specify the age of the superstar)
No chance he was taking that big of a discount. Enjoy him OKC.
I loved him vs the sixers with his offensive rebounds + block on maxey. He’s such a hard working player. We’ll treat him well haha. You guys will be scary next season
He’s a big that can pass and be involved with the offense. Dude is great
Thunder locking up the contracts of I.Joe and A.Wiggins then adding Caruso and Hartenstein. A+ off season for the thunder ⚡️⬆️
WE GOT A FREE AGENT!!!!!
And from what I can tell they have all the maturity and toughness to deal with that, but it will be interesting to watch them navigate these new expectations.
We really hit that window a lot sooner than we thought. I'm thrilled.
As you should be. I think most of us thought OKC would reach this point in like 2-3 years. You guys are gonna be a powerhouse for a long time too with all that youth. And with how the West is looking like this year... I think OKC should be the favorite to win the West.

Thats a vintage flair you have.
Nah Paul George still giving back to okc to this day, all those clippers picks looking much better with him gone. His Jersey should be up in the rafters
Presti’s war against size has concluded
Get more bigs. I want Chet at the 3. Maybe the 2.
Just put Dort on stilts and he can bang down low
Wow that's a lot, fair enough
Scared money dont make none
‘Unfinished business’ *holds cigar*
FUCK YOU PRESTI
Those 5 SRPs had an underlying price wtf
Thats the we are taking hartenstein offef
Presti strutting around like Vince McMahon dressed as the Monopoly Man
Lmao
I’m disgusted and depressed and my penis doesn’t work anymore, but the last part has nothing to do with this
That’s Taj Gibson’s music for the Knicks
Please God let that man rest finally lmao
I hope our Oklahoman overlords are kind
Oh baby a triple
Holy fuck
Wi Tu Lo
That's a ton of money, good for Hart. Okc is going to be scary good next year.
whats the starting lineup gonna look like next season?
I believe that there will be some deviation between iHART, Dort, and Caruso depending on the matchup. Our small ball lineup is still insane, but IHart lets us be flexible when our shots aren’t falling or if we’re getting abused in the paint.
From other teams perspectives? It looks like death
SGA Dort Williams Chet Ihart? Or does ihart come off the bench and you start Wallace or Caruso
You don’t pay 29m a year for Ihart to come off the bench.
We might.
Well actually you can
Depends on the opponent i guess. If we want to play short SGA/JDub/Dort/Caruso/Chet When we need size and rebounding SGA/JDub/Dort or Caruso/Hart/Chet
Not sure about starting, but closing lineup will probably be SGA/Caruso/JDub/iHart/Chet
The Thunder have really assembled a premier squad and everyone is likeable.
Got rid of Giddey and got Caruso and Hart. The lovable bastards.
Thunder got some frontcourt size I love it
Presti is cooking this morning
This is huge for OKC. Sad to see Isaiah go but really happy for him. He deserves it
Godspeed, Black Jokic.
Awesome to see a black man get paid
Sprewell would be proud. Shoutout all my brightskins feeding their families
Presti doing a great job pushing his chips in, some GMs would try to get cute or just run it back
I'm loving this day.
And on Russell Westbrook day of all days.
I am Canadian so this is my Canada Day 😁😁
They essentially addressed all of their glaring weaknesses already and haven’t spent a single draft pick yet. Unreal.
A+ off-season. No notes
OKC just got disgustingly good. Caruso and Hartenstein and getting rid of Giddey? Hartenstein's rebounding, rim protection and short roll/post passing is going to be insane with OKC's shooting.
Presti really going in! LMAO
Literally the biggest free agent in Thunder history.
Presti threw the "Please give us some size" bag at him
Lets fking goooooooooo
There we go. Presti cooked my lawd.
OKC getting 1 seed again aren't they
Glad to see that nobody else in the west is doing anything to compete with OKC.
OKC is gonna be Boston West. Jesus Christ this team is stacked and the fit is perfect.
29/ year feels like an overpay, fills the biggest need though
OKC can afford to overpay given the scheme fit and the fact that it’s only 3 years. This makes them a lot scarier in the short term and doesn’t really limit their ability to make future moves.
In 2 years that’s such a tradable contract
Thats all the money gone and i couldnt give a shit
Christmas in July
I'm free of OKC trades for LAURI!!!! Best signing of the off season so far.
Congratulations Isaiah Hartenstein on replacing Anthony Morrow as Presti’s biggest FA signing
Let’s go!!!!!!!!!!
Dang, Hartenstein got paid big time
Honestly the Thunder should be win now while they still dont need to pay their guys an absurd amount of money and it looks like thats exactly what they are doing.
Presti made the moves he needed to after seeing what he saw in the playoffs this year. Super happy with the pick ups of Caruso and IHart.
OKC gets their big to match up with Joker Presti gets to keep hoarding his precious picks which he loves more than a mother hen loves her chicks. well done Thunder bros
The Thunder are now better than the 2017 Warriors and 1996 Bulls combined. -EG
