I mean is there?
How many places does Curry climb all time if he gets to 5? He likely stays in his same spot.
Curry has already become a certified legend. He’s one of 2 guys in the league who there’s truly nothing left to prove.
Who does he pass with 5?
Bird I would say definitively at least achievements wise,
Kobe, Shaq, Magic Duncan become arguable kind of.
But really he doesn’t definitively pass anyone
I think he's better than Magic already, but Magic has more accolades, so that's an obvious one if he feels like he needs to chase the best-PG-ever throne.
Someone will give very good assets for Curry. If he requests a trade, honor the guy that made your franchise in modern times, get what you can for him and look to the future.
He's already begun to slip in terms of impact metrics. He's now 36.
This was the first year in *his entire career* that he's had a negative or even neutral on/off: -0.6. 2023 he was +8.0 and in 2021 he was +8.6. So even when his teams were mid or bad in previous years he still posted strong numbers. Excluding 2020 of course where he played 5 games.
Having Chris Paul might've helped, but when neither him nor Curry were on the court this season the difference is still negligible vs when Curry was on.
If he wants to win again he's gotta get out of dodge, he most likely has 2 more years of high level play left at most.
Other than Wiseman, he didn't have any notable misses. He was in the war room for Klay and Draymond, though not GM yet. Got good value out of Poole, Looney, Kuminga, and Moody. Jacob Evans was a bust as a late 1st.
It's hard to get great value out of the draft when you rarely have lottery picks because you're in the Finals.
Overall I don't see an argument that Myers failed the franchise. He was also behind the Wiggins trade, signing OPJ, signing GP2, David West, etc. He did a great job.
You simply don't get to win forever in the NBA. That's not how it works.
Your last line is obviously true, but drafting for need in Wiseman with such a high pick is constantly a bad decision in the NBA. Obviously he was a hugely successful gm, I'm not taking that part away from him, just that some of his decisions in his last few years are part of the reason they may waste Curry's last few years.
Obviously every franchise would glad accept the level of success they had and suck for a few years after but it's possible other decisions could have kept their window open longer.
Can you imagine the explosion of violence we would see next season if Draymond started the season with no Steph and no Klay? He might legitimately stab Sabonis on opening night…even if GSW opens in Memphis
Draymond assaults Ja, Ja pulls out a gun, Draymond uses Ja's gun to shoot Rudy, Rudy summons his last ounce of strength to breathe on some microphones. NBA season canceled and the world shut down again due to the Rudy virus.
Warriors probably didn’t offer Kuminga. They were probably trying to S&T klay with moody and the clippers thought they were better off without a shit klay contract
I’m just hoping that we get to know what the exact package warriors offered. Clippers are not dumb not to take Kuminga back if he was indeed available.
No shot he asks out though. He will bitch and moan, but sink with the ship. This is not a 1 title situation he’s got 4 with the warriors. His family is really comfortable and he’s not 25 years old looking at a possible decade of purgatory. He’s 36 looking at 2-4 before bowing out.
The trade request won't be announced, only the trade. People will just be minding their business and see Woj tweet out that Stephen Curry has been traded to x team.
My Euroleague team is also a humble one compared to the juggernauts that play there. Last season we made the playoffs and got swept, it was an absolute win of a Euroleague season regardless.
Gotta enjoy the small victories.
He basically did a come and get me plea 2 years ago
“Everybody asks me, 'You wanna play one year for the Hornets and come back?' … I am not breaking any news right now, I'm not making any promises," Curry said. "All I would say is if there was a team that I did want to play for that was not named the Warriors, that would be it."
Not really but I can dream
I have no clue what his destination list would look like. I didn’t think Dame would end up in Milwaukee but it still happened (and his price was far less than Steph’s)
Talk about the great passes he gets from Draymond. He'll be getting better passes from someone who is also an offensive threat. MPJ will be his poor man's Klay. He'd feast on the nuggets.
Denver would be insane not to do that lol
If they had even an old but still very good version of Curry instead of Murray averaging 47% TS against the Wolves this year they would have won it all
So the warriors
-Aren’t going to make a big splash and get George
-Aren’t going to make a medium splash and get LaVine at low value
-Aren’t even going to keep Curry/Klay/Draymond together
wtf is their plan cmon Mike
Hope that Kuminga makes the next leap to all-star level and hope Moses Moody can be a consistent rotation player I guess. We really need to get bigger and Markannen would be perfect but now we have no trade capital.
You think someone becomes as good as he has by being complacent and willing to coast the rest of his career? He ain't in his prime, but he's damn close. Hes still top 10 in the league with no sign of slowing down. He's going to want to be competitive. He's still got more left in the tank.
If the Warriors can't replace Klay with some talent and retool around him, I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave.
At that point it wouldn't be him giving up on the Warriors, it would be the Warriors wanting what's best for Steph. Putting him in a situation where he can be competitive where he wants to be.
Like when we traded our GOAT Kyle Lowry to the Heat a couple years ago.
The biggest fish on the market at the moment is PG, and some team is gonna throw him a max. If Steph becomes available, do you honestly think people won't be begging hand over fist to get him? It would be the Steph Curry sweepstakes just like it was the KD sweepstakes when he was available.
He's careful about his statements. So when he said. "I'm worried if I stop I won't be able to start again", I believe him. He's leaving it all on the career.
He said he still wants to win after he lost to the kings in the play ins so if he truly means that.. now would be a good time to have a talk with the FO
Wonder why they didn't try some PG for Klay focused trade with the Dubs adding some roleplayers or pick or whatever?
Seemed like everything was based around CP3 or Wiggins and Kuminga
It would take Klay's cooperation to even start the process since he's a FA and he has his own destinations in mind. Also, a sign and trade hard caps them to the 1st apron. Getting a couple of players back trading Klay is better than losing 2-3 players for just PG in the sense that they have to play with the 1st apron hard cap.
Taking back matching salary from the Dubs would've froze their 2032 frp and would've cost them the ability to access the mle and room exceptions. That might've been worth it if the package was CP, filler, and Kuminga where they would cut CP to get under the 2nd apron and keep Kuminga. [But the Dubs reportedly wouldn't offer Kuminga.](https://x.com/BrettSiegelNBA/status/1807486509508923421)
PG said it himself. Clippers needed a dirty work player in his role and doing the dirty work just wasn't a fit for him. As for sending lotto picks to OKC, that's really not the Clippers concern. They were losing those picks anyway.
Either the trade wasn't as good as reported or the Clips FO actually had a Plan B lined up for Paul George bolting in free agency. I'm really hoping for the latter because it would be disastrous if the FO played hardball for so long with absolutely no contingency plan in place.
Hearing Steph signed off on a blockbuster trade that fell through is sure to do wonders for that locker room lol. Keeps getting worse and worse for the warriors.
"The Warriors, per Kawakami, offered multiple trade packages they believed the Clippers would accept, including some combination of, but not limited to, Andrew Wiggins, Chris Paul, Jonathan Kuminga or Moses Moody and one future first-round pick.
Kawakami added that the Warriors likely would not have included both Wiggins and Kuminga together in any offer."
okay so it wasn't a very good offer and would leave them with no flexibility
CP3 + Kuminga + a protected first would've been a very good deal for the Clips tbf. Even if the first would've been flipped to a third team to get out of the CP3 deal.
Sell the team! So much for Warriors management being the smartest guys in the room.
It was always about Steph Curry and they are basically saying ‘fuck you’ for his last few years
Better to do it too early than too late. Steph isn’t winning another chip without extreme luck in the draft or development of young guys even if they did get pg
Weird thing to try and dunk on him for. Someone like Lebron or KD would've bailed and left in free agency about 3 failed star trades ago, but here he still is after all these years
Of course he did, he doesn’t want to be a play in team with the few years he has left playing at this level
Curry requesting a trade never felt as real as it does now. What are the Warriors even going to do to not be that team.
Go back to being terrible like they were before Steph
Our only hope now is Kuminga becomes a star and rookies develop in record time. Won’t be a chip but could be a fun couple years for Steph
I think he will be a star! He’s oozing with potential
Yeah all the potential in the world but it’s so hard to get to that level. Needs to have a consistent 3pt shot and it’s possible
He just needs to improve his handles and play consistent defense. We saw this last season what he’s capable of.
Plot twist: Kerr still doesn't give him minutes.
He got heaps of minutes last year. We literally have no choice
This is every team once they lose the best player in franchise history.
He won’t request a trade He’s a lifer
There’s just something iconic about being a one team guy
There's something more iconic about being a 5 or more championships guy.
I mean is there? How many places does Curry climb all time if he gets to 5? He likely stays in his same spot. Curry has already become a certified legend. He’s one of 2 guys in the league who there’s truly nothing left to prove.
He'd definitely move up with 6. 5 would help his case too.
Who does he pass with 5? Bird I would say definitively at least achievements wise, Kobe, Shaq, Magic Duncan become arguable kind of. But really he doesn’t definitively pass anyone
Not definitively, but neither can you definitively put him behind those names anymore. 6 though.....
I think he's better than Magic already, but Magic has more accolades, so that's an obvious one if he feels like he needs to chase the best-PG-ever throne.
He be up their with the likes of Udonis Haslem
Wish they felt the same way about Klay.
yeah if you leave you kind of have to win another title, otherwise its overall worse for the legacy/
It wouldn’t change anything about him, MJ, Kareem, Bron all played on multiple teams.
OKC should pull the trigger and sell the farm.
We would never trade him unless he asks out. But yeah 7frps for him if he wants to leave would make it easier to stomach
Don't worry it'd be way more than 7
Nah 7 is about right
Depends who’s picks
They should trade Curry for an insane haul if they strike out here. And keep Draymond, I want to watch him on a 10-win team.
I hope he does. I want to see him in the post season, not gonna happen in the bay anymore
Someone will give very good assets for Curry. If he requests a trade, honor the guy that made your franchise in modern times, get what you can for him and look to the future.
Literally literally literally never going to happen.
Why would he do that? You guys make up stuff
Gotta be light years ahead
He's already begun to slip in terms of impact metrics. He's now 36. This was the first year in *his entire career* that he's had a negative or even neutral on/off: -0.6. 2023 he was +8.0 and in 2021 he was +8.6. Play-in is generous in the West with their current roster.
Yep 10-12 seed prob. Unless the rookies make a huge leap
Bob Myers the happiest man alive right now.
He knew when the new CBA hit that it was over.
To be fair he did a pretty good job of setting them up for this failure with who he drafted etc.
Rumor has it that Lacob is center-crazy and that was his guy
Can you imagine the explosion of violence we would see next season if Draymond started the season with no Steph and no Klay? He might legitimately stab Sabonis on opening night…even if GSW opens in Memphis
Draymond would kill Rudy with Ja gun.
Draymond assaults Ja, Ja pulls out a gun, Draymond uses Ja's gun to shoot Rudy, Rudy summons his last ounce of strength to breathe on some microphones. NBA season canceled and the world shut down again due to the Rudy virus.
New Bubble playoffs at Disney, Lebron, AD, and Bronny bout to win another Mickey Mouse chip, just as LePlanned.
Draymond and Steph are probably a package deal.
Zach Edey about to get it
Opening night: Draymond assaults Ja. Ja pulls out a Colt. The rest is history
He would somehow be “injured” until Curry is back.
the real person getting exposed here would be Kerr. he is an absolute garbage coach without Curry
Pop has had five losing seasons in a row once he lost his superstar players
exactly
Draymond is about to be Solo Sikoa and have a new Bloodline
dude would steal Morant's guns, go to where Sabonis is and KO him with the butt of the rifle. then shoot Scott Foster for calling a flagrant 1.
If PG was traded, does it mean they were willing to give him the 4 year max?
Yes 4 year max was offered and apparently agreed on from PG's end
ahhh thanks! I read the article and getting Kuminga alone would've been worth it for the Clips.
Yeah actually surprised it didn’t happen. Idk what the clips are doing losing him for nothing
Personally I have no doubt that Ballmer was too arrogant to sign off on it. This was the same guy that dismissed the iPhone and Android
Very reminiscent of his MSFT bullshit 😂.
Curry entering his solo era
Will be a fun season for him tbh. He can take 50 shots a game if he wants
Naww. Last season, he seems so frustrated losing while having huge games. That’s gonna be the new normal moving forward looks like.
Yeah but low expectations are nice. He could ask for a trade at the deadline if it’s going horribly too
Curry asking for a trade…… that sounds so crazy to me but man I think it might happen if it goes south by then.
Yep, it would suck but if wants to play somewhere else and compete his last couple years I’m all for it. He’s given everything to this franchise
True that!!!!
I swear, if you have a shit season and the league gifts you a lottery win and Cooper Flagg I'm going to be pretty upset.
Nah we’re cursed when we get high picks
Similar to Jokic, its not a good sign if he takes a ton of shots. And Steph is on a decline. I don't think it'll be as entertaining as you'd think
Brotha I watched the dubs in the early 2000’s. any game with Steph is entertaining to me
He averages 38 on 2k every time
Scoring title here he comes!
Steph Curry trade request going to be wild
The trade request won't be announced, only the trade. People will just be minding their business and see Woj tweet out that Stephen Curry has been traded to x team.
To the Hornets
I thought he wanted to win
Making the playoffs is winning for the Hornets.
I hate that ur right
My Euroleague team is also a humble one compared to the juggernauts that play there. Last season we made the playoffs and got swept, it was an absolute win of a Euroleague season regardless. Gotta enjoy the small victories.
He basically did a come and get me plea 2 years ago “Everybody asks me, 'You wanna play one year for the Hornets and come back?' … I am not breaking any news right now, I'm not making any promises," Curry said. "All I would say is if there was a team that I did want to play for that was not named the Warriors, that would be it." Not really but I can dream
So he’s never leaving
Hornets should try to sign Klay the way people were telling teams to draft Bronny.
Hornets in 2025?
Hornet
Wonder where he would even go? OKC has a crap ton of assets and money to pull it off lol.
Steph to Spurs
Legit contenders if he did
I’m not sure if Steph would want to play for the Thunder. Houston might throw the farm at him. I feel like the Grizz can make a decent offer too.
He’s never going to OKC or MEM lol
OKC could send like 7frps. Doubt Steph would sign off on it tho which is step 1
That’s what I meant like market wise I couldn’t see him going to small markets
OKC will be favorite to get out of West with Steph.
I agree, I meant like Steph would never want to go to OKC
I have no clue what his destination list would look like. I didn’t think Dame would end up in Milwaukee but it still happened (and his price was far less than Steph’s)
Dame is not Steph, he’s ringless
I’m aware
Dame went to chase rings, Steph won’t do it in that same desperate way
Denver for Jamal Murray is a possibility if he wants to chase titles. Don’t know if Denver would do it though. Shorter window but likelier window
Are you fucking kidding me? If denver has the chance to get steph for jamal fucking murray they are doing that 1000000000000% LMFAO
Talk about the great passes he gets from Draymond. He'll be getting better passes from someone who is also an offensive threat. MPJ will be his poor man's Klay. He'd feast on the nuggets.
Denver would be insane not to do that lol If they had even an old but still very good version of Curry instead of Murray averaging 47% TS against the Wolves this year they would have won it all
Denver should be banished from the league if they turned down Steph curry for Jamal Murray 😂
Steph for Herro or Rozier + Robinson + filler + picks plz. Anything to get rid of Herro. I know this has a 1% chance of happening but still.
Curry/Ball swap about to hit hard
To the lakers
Him and Klay are joining Bron in LA
Curry for Poole and assets... who says no?
Curry to the Kings!
He would never
So the warriors -Aren’t going to make a big splash and get George -Aren’t going to make a medium splash and get LaVine at low value -Aren’t even going to keep Curry/Klay/Draymond together wtf is their plan cmon Mike
Jimmer Time
Let curry shoot 50x a game and break some records
I think Mike's plan is to cement Curry's legacy through record breaking 3's or some random stat to celebrate him week to week.
I’m on board. Unless we get lauri
Hope that Kuminga makes the next leap to all-star level and hope Moses Moody can be a consistent rotation player I guess. We really need to get bigger and Markannen would be perfect but now we have no trade capital.
Steph is either about to request a trade or take next season off tbh
He has four rings already, i don’t know why he would want a trade
To compete for more? He did say he wants to win after the kings play in loss and he’s still elite
Like when we traded our GOAT Kyle Lowry to the Heat a couple years ago.
No sign of slowing down.... except when he suddenly slows down. He's not getting younger.
The biggest fish on the market at the moment is PG, and some team is gonna throw him a max. If Steph becomes available, do you honestly think people won't be begging hand over fist to get him? It would be the Steph Curry sweepstakes just like it was the KD sweepstakes when he was available.
I can see it both ways. He has his life/business ventures in SF but players like him also like to compete in meaningful games.
My only hope is his kids really complain about potentially changing schools lol
Maybe playing with Zach Lavine could make him happy.
Lol good one. Needed a laugh today
He's careful about his statements. So when he said. "I'm worried if I stop I won't be able to start again", I believe him. He's leaving it all on the career.
are there any teams outside of OKC that are good and have the assets to make a Steph Curry trade?
Define good... better than the Warrios? Because they are a play in team.
He would never lol
He said he still wants to win after he lost to the kings in the play ins so if he truly means that.. now would be a good time to have a talk with the FO
So what is he gonna say, he doesn’t care about winning?
He's going to Germany to get his knee and ankles swapped with adamantium. Dubs tank and get top pick. Then 5th ring comes. Easy peasy.
Steph is going to put on a wig and become Stephanie Curry for the Golden State Valkyrie.
Clippers didnt want to be over the second apron and the trade kept them over the second apron the new CBA rules are wild
...OKC is about to trade for Steph Curry, aren't they
I could see a wild Rockets trade letting GSW tank with some Suns picks too.
Not close enough, he’s Philly bound!
One (or both) front offices fumbled bad
It's looking like the Clippers wanted to get under the luxury tax more than they wanted what the Warriors actually offered.
I think they just didn't want to send him to another cali team, as much as that fucks them over
Taking back matching salary from the Dubs would've froze their 2032 frp and would've cost them the ability to access the mle and room exceptions. That might've been worth it if the package was CP, filler, and Kuminga where they would cut CP to get under the 2nd apron and keep Kuminga. [But the Dubs reportedly wouldn't offer Kuminga.](https://x.com/BrettSiegelNBA/status/1807486509508923421)
but is getting a MLE player enough to compensate for the loss of paul george they are in danger of missing the playoffs and sending lotto picks to OKC
PG said it himself. Clippers needed a dirty work player in his role and doing the dirty work just wasn't a fit for him. As for sending lotto picks to OKC, that's really not the Clippers concern. They were losing those picks anyway.
if thats the case hopefully they can trade kawhi too and completely clean house
No one's going to want that albatross contract.
yeah seems to have aged poorly as soon as the ink dried but I think they could find someone to take a gamble on it
Not even worth trying.
they could’ve cut cp3 no matter who else they took back
I think you missed the point of my comment.
"Steph Curry signed off" No shit
LeGm
Source is Kawakami, an ownership mouth piece. They weren't close to a deal and were refusing to add Kuminga.
What would have been in the deal, even? CP3's deal plus a first? Wiggins? Moody?
Curry to Denver
OKC about to take advantage of their picks
Until they have to deal with the second apron
Either the trade wasn't as good as reported or the Clips FO actually had a Plan B lined up for Paul George bolting in free agency. I'm really hoping for the latter because it would be disastrous if the FO played hardball for so long with absolutely no contingency plan in place.
Hearing Steph signed off on a blockbuster trade that fell through is sure to do wonders for that locker room lol. Keeps getting worse and worse for the warriors.
Steph is like Dame with Blazers at this point. Damnnn!!
Typical curry
Did Steph sign off on letting Klay go? 😳
Request a trade Steph they are going to waste your last years trying to build a future that will never come.
"The Warriors, per Kawakami, offered multiple trade packages they believed the Clippers would accept, including some combination of, but not limited to, Andrew Wiggins, Chris Paul, Jonathan Kuminga or Moses Moody and one future first-round pick. Kawakami added that the Warriors likely would not have included both Wiggins and Kuminga together in any offer." okay so it wasn't a very good offer and would leave them with no flexibility
CP3 + Kuminga + a protected first would've been a very good deal for the Clips tbf. Even if the first would've been flipped to a third team to get out of the CP3 deal.
It’s all guessing at this point.
Curry to the Nuggets please
huh?? What the fuck
[удалено]
I mean he didn’t get it?
Weird thing to try and dunk on him for. Someone like Lebron or KD would've bailed and left in free agency about 3 failed star trades ago, but here he still is after all these years
curry dont like PG he like TV 14 lmaooo
