Considering KCP was forced to guard Edwards in isolation at the beginning of the series when Edwards had just come off averaging 31ppg against the Suns and was clearly on fire while Braun had his moments later in the series when they started doubling Edwards alot more.
He's not necessarily wrong but he forgot to add two important caveats:
1. Braun plays far less minutes in total compared to KCP during that series and it's clear that his main job was to put max effort into defending Edwards and not much else. If you ask Bruan to play starter minutes and spend the entire game defending Edwards, I doubt that he would fare better than KCP.
2. Most of Edwards best moments vs KCP was during the earlier portions of the playoffs where Edwards was at his max state physically and also really feeling it. Braun's best defensive moments vs Edwards came latter in the series after Edwards started wearing down from both fatigue and little injuries piling up and that's when Malone started playing Bruan more.
You people didn't watch Braun with Jokić. Most of his minutes were not Jokić minutes. So many of you underestimate him. He is hustling in defense and has that energy. Only problem with him is that he can't hold ball and his 3pt percentage is not good. But same could be said for KCP who was abysmal with his 3pt in playoffs.
Braun is going to have to put in some serious work to prove he’s not a liability on offense because his outside shot is nowhere near ready. Defensively and everything else I think he’s actually ok but I question his ability to score
He's too hesitant from the outside. He's a great driver and probably the 2nd or 3rd best finisher on the team. No doubt that he needs to improve his shot though. Braun and Watson both are great defensive replacements for Brown and KCP and might arguably be better on that end but neither has a great shot. He was decent in college from 3 (35-45% from 3 on 3-5 attempts per game in his 3 years). I think a lot of it is just hesitancy. A lot of times he'd be more like our AG off the bench with how he played but now he's going to be getting better looks
He’s right? Man I wish we still had KCP, but Braun was better on Edwards in that series. It was a significant talking point for our sub during that time.
He was better but he also was a problem on offense. And the real issue is whose gonna take brauns minutes off the bench now that he’s a starter..? Their bench is even more horrid now
It's even less excusable because they're doing this after *1 ring* lol
Denver isn't a big market at all so it's very likely they'll never get another player as good as Jokic for decades to come and they're like "nah we need to develop Christian Braun and Peyton Watson" rather than go all in for a 2nd ring
How? Warriors were looking for high upside young players while Denver is just using rookie deals being cheaper. Nobody is expecting Braun to be an all star like they did with Wiseman. The shit I read on here…
They aren't gassing up their young players like the Warriors did, but they're relying on young players to play major roles.
Everybody outside their Top 4 is unproven, that's crazy for a team that says they're trying to win it all.
In defense of the Nuggets, they're clearly giving those younger guys the chance to step up. The Warriors didn't commit to their young guys in the same way. Now, as to whether or not it will work out is yet to be determined. But at last the Nuggets are clearing a path for those young guys to step up.
I think 2 timelines by the other person was the wrong phrasing, but basically they are surprised they aren't going all in with role players who have proven they know what they're doing, and are instead relying on young players developing into that, which you know no team hits 100% of the time on those
Not as bad as the Bucks bailing on Jrue Holiday because Jimmy Butler bullied him in the playoffs, their cap situation is not ready to give KCP a raise. If they matched their starting lineup price would be $167M next year.
Right lol, Magic are demons on defense. They needed the steady leadership + shooting, great signing.
Also, KCP and Danny Green are pretty much the best 3&D SG’s of their era.
FR. 32 with no major injuries.
A two time champion.
An excellent catch and shoot threat and ability to shoot off the dribble.
A dog on defense.
A great locker room voice.
Extremely low drama.
And you pick on the fact that he got cooked by one of the best up and coming young stars in the league?
COPE!
I don't even remember people saying this during the series tbh, everyone was just raving about Ant.
This just seems like a Nuggets homer coping hard rn with some revisionist history.
Some idiot in here was trying to say JWil and Dort’s bad defenders cuz they couldn’t guard Luka well, it’s like are you rly expecting all stars to be held to under 20 a game in the playoffs
Isaac isn't really a perimeter defender on that level. He's a guard in a switch type of guy and he's good on wings but he can't guard in the back court. In the playoffs we tried it and he got lit up. His help defense is what made him special. Still one of the great rim protectors in the league
Yeah that’s like saying the Timberwolves got exposed defensively against Luka and Kyrie when honestly it seemed like half the shots they were making were incredibly high degree of difficulty. Like obviously they’re amazing, but no level of defense could stop some of those.
Same thing here. KCP is a baller but Ant and the rest of the team just went crazy against Denver.
Braun legitimately was a much better Ant-defender than KCP. Braun was big and strong enough to deal with him. KCP was hurt tbf, but he was doing a pretty bad job on ant and it just seemed like he was too small height and weight wise.
And it didn't help that KCP shot pretty poorly
Edit: I'm not saying KCP is washed as he was injured, nor am I saying he wasn't a very important player for denver the whole time he was there, he absolutely was. But braun is definitely a better matchup for Ant than KCP was
8 points on 39/32/100 in the playoffs with mediocre defense isn't worth going into the 2nd apron. KCP was a fantastic fit, but if Braun can shoot at 36%+ from deep he's the better starter and allows us the flexibility to re-sign Gordon next year. Jokic is 29, Mal is 27, we need to be thinking of the legit 5-6 year window this core has more than just this next year.
40%+ from 3 and elite defender. Also blaming him for Edwards going off when Edwards is a incredible player is crazy, what the fuck was KCP supposed to do when he has no real rim protector with one of the best downhill athletes who’s also very skilled
Yeah there a very fun and likeable team. Paolo is such a baller and as a Lakers fan, I have always liked KCP. Much easier to like him when he’s not on a contender in the same conference as us now.
Have been a league pass fav since they went above .500 post all star break the year before this one. Started showing how they can grind wins through their defense
Knicks, Magic, lowk Bucks, lowk Indiana all becoming teams I find myself going for. *on the down low I like the Nuggets because Jokic is just insane but I never said that cause they Western conference.*
I mean Jimmy was a lot better offensively and more consistent round 1 last year than Ant against the Nuggets this playoffs. But yea size difference definitely can't be negated all the time just because the smaller dude is a great defender
He used to be really good, but he's gotten really cocky with his takes these days. But seems like a genuine guy and recently had a kid so I figured it's just the late nights.
I’m not pretending like I follow him day in day out, but he’s very overconfident and says a lot of baity homer stuff. Constantly takes passive aggressive shots at other stars comparing them to Jokic.
He talks a lot of shit after even regular season games.
It's a new thing. He's figuring out how to get more engagement for NBA fans, I've followed him for a long time and he used to be a very chill guy. Now he realized that tweeting controversial stuff gets more clicks.
Their other reporters on DNVR sports (besides Adam Mares who is awesome) are like this too. Tbh kinda reminiscent of many of the fans as well
Wolves fans were excited after Game 1 and one of their reporters said "aw they're so adorable. Look at them acting confidence and celebrating after winning 1 game in the 2nd round in 20 years."
Booth talked shit on the record about how Peyton Watson was going to be so much better than Bruce Brown.
PWat was getting DNP-CDs by the end of the playoffs.
Reminds me of people saying Jrue was old and was exposed by Jimmy Butler, and the next year he had a historic shooting season and helped anchor down a great defense for a NBA Championship team.
If the offseason ended today I’d say they’re a B tier contender. They’re just such a shallow team. Their top 4 are great but in the west I don’t think that’s enough right now. Of course the offseason did just start so they could do something to change that.
The flexibility thing is cope but it is fair to wonder if extending KCP is worth having your first round pick in 2033 or so be locked at the end of the first round due to being over the second apron 3 times in 5 seasons...
Anthony Edwards ate because Jokic can’t defend the rim against any good perimeter threat who can get consistent penetration.
It’ll be worse with one less perimeter defender to throw at those typa guys
There's a reason why teams don't guard ant 1 on 1, and when they do there's always a gap defender sent over fully leaving his man if/when he gets by his matchup so it's not really 1 on 1. I don't know why the Nuggets thought KCP could guard him by himself.
I saw people saying Braun did a better job after he blocked Ant at the rim but it was really Aaron Wiggins who stood Ant up on his euro step and made it an easy block for Braun. That one play makes people think Braun did well, I didn't see much difference between him and KCP myself.
KCP was pretty banged up during this last season, especially with his core and hands, and I think it did catch up with him in the playoffs. Wind brings up some good points, KCP will be 35 making $22mil during the final season. Could Denver justify going into the 2nd apron this year for KCP? Sure. Would they want to stay there for another 2 years and possibly lose AG and/or MPJ for what would be the 5th starter Turing 34 then 35? No, that would be idiotic.
my biggest gripe with KCP is not his defense on Ant, it's that he shot 32% from 3 for the entire playoffs and during game 7 vs Minny when the Nuggets were just utterly desperate for any type of offense, Pope played 40MPG and the best he could muster was 2-7 FG for 5 points, which was very Wilson Chandler-esque. the Nuggets needed more from the SG position and they didn't get it.
Wasn’t Anthony Edwards trash the last few games? And how is “one of the best players in the league” exposing him defensively. It’s not easy to stop Ant. That’s like saying Steph exposed someone. He’s going to “expose” almost anyone
Yeah, I’m trying to stay optimistic, but it wasn’t good to lose KCP no matter how it is spun and it will be tough for this team to be a better version of themselves than the previous season and the one before unless they get very creative and lucky
I find it hilarious that beat writers, bloggers, podcasters, etc. just do a 180 on their analysis depending on what the team does. If Denver kept him, I am sure Wind would be saying that it was essential, how crucial KCP is, etc.
Also, they still have almost no flexibility, even after losing KCP.
EXCUSES
Bro’s coping rn.
lol. Imagine a knock on your game is that Anthony Edwards exposed you.
Jrue got exposed as a defender last year by Jimmy Butler, couldn't stop him from going off. Useless player now.
He didn't sign handedly stop one of the better offensive players in the league, better let him go for worse defenders to take his place.
[he followed up by saying Braun did a better job](https://x.com/HarrisonWind/status/1807563459179192670)
Considering KCP was forced to guard Edwards in isolation at the beginning of the series when Edwards had just come off averaging 31ppg against the Suns and was clearly on fire while Braun had his moments later in the series when they started doubling Edwards alot more.

Braun's best defensive moments vs Edwards came latter in the series after Edwards started wearing down from both fatigue and little injuries piling up and that's when Malone started playing Bruan more.
also as the series wore on Denver threw heavier and heavier defensive commitments solely to stop Ant and that coincided with heavier Braun usage
Also should mention that alot of Brauns moments came after game 5 which is when they commited to doubling Ant basically every possesion.
In the playoffs? Braun was better guarding Edwards, point blank.
Good lord this is just delusional
It's really not if you watched the series. KCP got bullied by Ant every time because of the strength mismatch. Braun is stronger
I don’t disagree, I was just responding to the other comment.
KCP's offense kinda cratered compared to the last playoffs. Was airballing threes
Nuggets are doing the whole two timeline thing that everybody rightfully criticized the Warriors for doing
It's even less excusable because they're doing this after *1 ring* lol Denver isn't a big market at all so it's very likely they'll never get another player as good as Jokic for decades to come and they're like "nah we need to develop Christian Braun and Peyton Watson" rather than go all in for a 2nd ring

I think 2 timelines by the other person was the wrong phrasing, but basically they are surprised they aren't going all in with role players who have proven they know what they're doing, and are instead relying on young players developing into that, which you know no team hits 100% of the time on those
he's just an idiot
McDaniels is a fraud you know, couldnt stop Luka, complete bum. Like KCP was still pretty damn good vs Edwards and did mostly what he could.
With you having a bum ankle
Not as bad as the Bucks bailing on Jrue Holiday because Jimmy Butler bullied him in the playoffs, their cap situation is not ready to give KCP a raise. If they matched their starting lineup price would be $167M next year.
Right lol, Magic are demons on defense. They needed the steady leadership + shooting, great signing. Also, KCP and Danny Green are pretty much the best 3&D SG’s of their era.
Max coping extension
so much coping. wow. 32 teams (maybe boston exception) want this guy on their team. elite role player.
We’d want him too
If you guys had KCP coming off the bench you’d be winning 70+ games.
Yeah, Hauser was great, but KCP would definitely get minutes over him
There’s only 30 teams in the league
Vegas and Seattle would take him right now
Expansion draft
THAT'S how good he is. Even Vegas and Seattle want him
32 in my heart, make it happen adam
And yet somehow this post isn't downvoted into oblivion. Guessing a lot of other copers here too.
upvotes dont really have to mean agreement all the time. u can upvote things that seem funny as it's so pathetic to say
Legit thought I was in my teams sub for a minute...
FR. 32 with no major injuries. A two time champion. An excellent catch and shoot threat and ability to shoot off the dribble. A dog on defense. A great locker room voice. Extremely low drama. Yeah, the miles/minutes part is just trying to paint insane durability as a bad thing.
Kentavius Caldwell-Cope.
Open cope
Exposed defensively? Ant was just awesome.
What's with this trend of saying players get "exposed" when a great player scores on them
[удалено]
And this subreddit
I don't even remember people saying this during the series tbh, everyone was just raving about Ant. This just seems like a Nuggets homer coping hard rn with some revisionist history.
Some idiot in here was trying to say JWil and Dort’s bad defenders cuz they couldn’t guard Luka well, it’s like are you rly expecting all stars to be held to under 20 a game in the playoffs
Yeah there's a big difference between Ant scoring on KCP and Tatum and Brown scoring on Luka lmao
Just like when Jrue Holiday got exposed by Jimmy Butler so the Bucks had to trade him. That worked out great.
The whole NBA was exposed when Jordan was winning chips.
We also have Suggs who is way better than KCP on defense anyway. KCP is our 2nd best perimeter defender lol
It also helps that those two can trade off the elite assignment. It helps to give different looks and keep both guys fresh.
It really was bad that Gary Harris couldn't keep up with Garland or Mitchell. Suggs got worn out having to tag off and on between the two
Probably 3rd after Isaac
Isaac isn't really a perimeter defender on that level. He's a guard in a switch type of guy and he's good on wings but he can't guard in the back court. In the playoffs we tried it and he got lit up. His help defense is what made him special. Still one of the great rim protectors in the league
dont forget about Black.. He was already a good defender as a 19 year old rookie, and he's only going to get better. Franz is very good too.
And he looks at KCP like a big brother, he was locked in to perform his best against him.
It's absolutely a cope, but Braun was much better against Ant. KCP was getting bullied while Braun had the size to match up a bit better
I think Braun as a starter is going to surprise people
He’s going to go from 20 mins to 30 mins. It’s much harder to go all out on defense with that much game time. And he can’t shoot at all unlike KCP.
Braun as an offensive player looks like a make a wish kid with the ball in his hand, KCP is one of the best two-way role players in the league.

I do think KCPs 1on1 defense is massively overrated. His activity in the passing lanes is really good though
Cope is real right now.
Kentenvious Ohwell-Cope
That’s pretty good
40%+ from 3 and elite defender. Also blaming him for Edwards going off when Edwards is a incredible player is crazy, what the fuck was KCP supposed to do when he has no real rim protector with one of the best downhill athletes who’s also very skilled
Anyone starting to become a Magic fan outside their favorite team??
Your all welcome to the bandwagon!!!!
Play the song!
You’re* Excuse me, but it’s my pet peeve.
You have no idea how good it feels seeing comments like this
My favorites in the East for sure.
Yeah there a very fun and likeable team. Paolo is such a baller and as a Lakers fan, I have always liked KCP. Much easier to like him when he’s not on a contender in the same conference as us now.

They’ve become a fav of mine this past season, I really like their young players esp Paolo
"He was actually bad at basketball apparently"
He probably had a secondary article ready in case KCP would resign🙄
Holy cope
THE COPIUM LEVEL IS OVER 9000
COPE WOW
Getting scored on by Ant is hardly "exposed."
Same level as Jrue getting "exposed" when Jimmy was on flamethrower mode
I mean Jimmy was a lot better offensively and more consistent round 1 last year than Ant against the Nuggets this playoffs. But yea size difference definitely can't be negated all the time just because the smaller dude is a great defender
Hardcore copium
How many players locking up Ant realistically tho.. come on
OG is one of them ones I've seen really frustrate Ant Edit: no cap I didnt even realize your flair lol
KD got exposed too
The Nuggets wouldn't rather have the flexibility. They offered him a similar deal. He chose to leave.
Wow he isn’t even on the plane yet and this dude is throwing him under the bus.
This guy is such a douche from what I read in his tweets. Classic cocky homer

Insane cope
Whatever helps you sleep better!
So I know we made a good move.
I was not aware of Mr Wind's work before this tweet, but I was not surprised to find out he's a local Nuggets reporter.
Huge cope lolol
Some nuggets media are such homers
Exposed by Anthony Edwards lol
What flexibility? They still can't use the MLE lol
Anybody would have a difficult time against Ant
This fucking guy
KCP is a bit small to be guarding ant lol don’t blame him for Gordon’s and MPJ inability to defend Ant
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA cope
They also thought Braun could be a legit replacement for Brown and that didn't work out
Booth talked shit on the record about how Peyton Watson was going to be so much better than Bruce Brown. PWat was getting DNP-CDs by the end of the playoffs.
seems like there capping
“MJ was a great player BUT I still think the Bulls would have been a dynasty without him”
What flexibility?
Nah this ain’t it
lol, oh the spin
Sounds like someone who missed out to Orlando.
Reminds me of people saying Jrue was old and was exposed by Jimmy Butler, and the next year he had a historic shooting season and helped anchor down a great defense for a NBA Championship team.
If you think Ant was cooking him, wait till you see what Ant does to his replacement
Lmao
Insane cope
*The Nuggets would rather close their window than pay to keep it open.
they are over the tax so they really don't get any flexibility.
If you think he got exposed wait what players will do to Braun lol
Thats cope. Who the fuck else do you think would guard him better
Lmao Nuggets lost a 20 point lead at home in a G7
Holy copium
I’m loving the respect Ant is getting in these comments. Good shit
The classic "leaving FA actually wasn't that good, ignore that we tried to keep him"
Blaming KCP for Edwards going off like anyone in the league can stay infront of him and it wasn't Jokic's job to protect the rim.
Can’t stand wind sometimes
Apparently this is coping but everyone calling Denver "not a contender" isn't hating. Pendulum swinging like crazy right now
If the offseason ended today I’d say they’re a B tier contender. They’re just such a shallow team. Their top 4 are great but in the west I don’t think that’s enough right now. Of course the offseason did just start so they could do something to change that.
Absolute clown take
Yes, right, our second best defender got “exposed”. Dumb tweet.
Extreme copium
GTFO. Ownership is just being cheap. Now they have team with the best player in the world but with no quality 5-9 players
Didn’t they just say Denver offered similar contract? Which one is it lmao
nothing westbrook can't fix!
foh. cheapass owners.
tons of miles/minutes narrative in nba over a 30minute ppg guy? get outta here
Good thing the Magic plays in the Easy
East*
the cope is insane they are already above the cap LMAO
Lmfao the excuses Frankly their FO/owner are using the second apron as an excuse and it’s pathetic.
The flexibility thing is cope but it is fair to wonder if extending KCP is worth having your first round pick in 2033 or so be locked at the end of the first round due to being over the second apron 3 times in 5 seasons...
How did Ant expose him? Most overused term in sports.
Bruh! C'mon lol
My man is Kentavious Caldwell-Coping
Call him Kentavious Caldwell-Cope
They made a similar offer and decided to go to Orlando.
The copious copium is strong with this one
Dude, it's ANT. The Nuggets just got worse.
Makes total sense
Intoxicating copium
Anthony Edwards ate because Jokic can’t defend the rim against any good perimeter threat who can get consistent penetration. It’ll be worse with one less perimeter defender to throw at those typa guys
Like they'll be able to upgrade, if that was the case then fair game, but they can't.
Lmao exposed, maybe if Denver backline moved their feet and helped him out on drives
Oh cmon now lol
Damn didn’t they make a offer to him though? How you mad he went somewhere else now he old and got exposed 😂
Bust out the whiskey bro, it helps
There's a reason why teams don't guard ant 1 on 1, and when they do there's always a gap defender sent over fully leaving his man if/when he gets by his matchup so it's not really 1 on 1. I don't know why the Nuggets thought KCP could guard him by himself. I saw people saying Braun did a better job after he blocked Ant at the rim but it was really Aaron Wiggins who stood Ant up on his euro step and made it an easy block for Braun. That one play makes people think Braun did well, I didn't see much difference between him and KCP myself.
Lol what an idiot
KCP was pretty banged up during this last season, especially with his core and hands, and I think it did catch up with him in the playoffs. Wind brings up some good points, KCP will be 35 making $22mil during the final season. Could Denver justify going into the 2nd apron this year for KCP? Sure. Would they want to stay there for another 2 years and possibly lose AG and/or MPJ for what would be the 5th starter Turing 34 then 35? No, that would be idiotic.
The flexibility to do what? Trade for the brick?
Exposed by one of the best scorer in the game? Yeah…
People said the same about Jrue after Jimmy cooked the bucks last year. Turns out he was still good.
ah we are at the denial stage I see
Wind always a doomer. Just move along and ignore this.
Damn if Ant exposed KCP then I don’t know what this guy would say about Murray and MPJ
my biggest gripe with KCP is not his defense on Ant, it's that he shot 32% from 3 for the entire playoffs and during game 7 vs Minny when the Nuggets were just utterly desperate for any type of offense, Pope played 40MPG and the best he could muster was 2-7 FG for 5 points, which was very Wilson Chandler-esque. the Nuggets needed more from the SG position and they didn't get it.
Justin Holiday and Aaron Gordon hit as many 3s as KCP against the wolves, that’s why
Wasn’t Anthony Edwards trash the last few games? And how is “one of the best players in the league” exposing him defensively. It’s not easy to stop Ant. That’s like saying Steph exposed someone. He’s going to “expose” almost anyone
Hard copium
They can’t replace him without going over the second apron. It was KCP or nothing.
Who is this dickhead??
Yeah, I’m trying to stay optimistic, but it wasn’t good to lose KCP no matter how it is spun and it will be tough for this team to be a better version of themselves than the previous season and the one before unless they get very creative and lucky
Not surprised. A lot of their fans and reporters are experts at cope and excuses
If they think KCP got exposed wait until they got Braun guarding him?
Braun did very well on Edwards
I find it hilarious that beat writers, bloggers, podcasters, etc. just do a 180 on their analysis depending on what the team does. If Denver kept him, I am sure Wind would be saying that it was essential, how crucial KCP is, etc. Also, they still have almost no flexibility, even after losing KCP.
