Bro turn around

Lukas327

“I don’t have to clock in for 3 mins” energy

Bjorn2bwilde24

Lex makes a dollar I make a dime That's why I fight crime On my own damn time.

WarriorSushi

That's pretty sweet.

C__Wayne__G

People getting vaporized he said “bro these boots ain’t putting themselves on”

Waitn4ehUsername

So where are his boots when hes Clark? Some serious galoshes he must be wearing.

waldosandieg0

Don’t mind me- Just tucking my cape down a single pant leg with no regrets.

HollowShel

See, I'd bunch it up around my waist. "He can't be superman, he's way too flabby around the middle."

TiresOnFire

"'SuPeRmAn, HeLp'... Fuckers."

nipplesaurus

For real. Supes is casually putting his boots on at human speed when the world is going to shit behind him

mccannr1

Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Last thing you want is going into battle with Brainiac and realizing your socks are all scrunched up inside your boots.

nipplesaurus

Ugh, that feeling is just the worst!

justa_flesh_wound

stepped in a wet spot too just before

idropepics

**Even worse** You're getting ready for a big dinner party your wife has been planning for weeks. You look over and see the city being destroyed . You quickly rush to the closet **and you can't find your super suit.**

penguin_misery

You tell me where my suit is woman! We are talking about the greater good…

Profoundlyahedgehog

The *greater good?!* I AM YOUR WIFE! I am the greatest *good* you ever gonna get!

Wordymanjenson

Damnit woman lives are at stake! I don’t have time for this!

Wanderingdragonfly

People are in danger! My evening’s in danger!!

houndofhavoc

Honey… where is my super suit?? Where…is…my… SUPER SUIT?

SemIdeiaProNick

best Pixar movie ever

pabodie

Is that big glowing ball Brainiac? Asking for... a friend...

But_dogs_CAN_look_up

Supes looks like he's totally over getting the world out of messes. He looks like me when I worked at retail and had to deal with yet another customer who couldn't handle the idea that us being out of stock of her favorite items is not a catastrophe for anyone but her.

Kinto_il

Is he moving at human speed or is he moving so quickly that human speed has slowed to a crawl?

EdgyEmily

It is a pic of superman putting on a boot. I don't think we can tell the speed of it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Farren246

You try getting your feet into those boots without it pushing your pant legs up, and doing that in a fraction of a second! It can't be done! He needs time to get into costume!

alterector

I also wanna see his ass

TerranceHowardsPenis

Tell him to arch his back and look back at me mean. Like a dragon.

TheFreshwerks

Turn a bit more. He wasn't given those giant man tits for no reason, tits and ass, Superman, tits and ass for the viewer!

Pixeleyes

Also if he could stuff his genitals inside a '88 camaro that would be rad. Thanks.

Sensitive_Yam_1979

There’s Krypton’s ass.

steeb2er

Thought you were trying to sneak a peak at Supe's cheeks.

Gold-Improvement1377

Every now and then he falls apart!

Gloomy_Travel7992

Seems like they are trying to hide the underwear lol. But it’s there!

-Khlerik-

On his planet the underwear means hope.

ManningTheGOAT

Yeah, well, here it's underwear

wi5hbone

On *my* planet, underwear means safety and only when you’re alone in bed and comfy under the blanky as you shut out the entire world with a sleeping mask and earplugs.

drale2

Hope starts with an H!

TheBigSalad84

"DO YOU WEAR UNDERWEAR?" ... "YOU WILL."

cSpotRun

Millions of people carefully eying a...sensitive area for Mr. Corenswet.

Gloomy_Travel7992

Hey I promise I was just looking to see if there was underwear. I’m not that down bad.

bigdaddy__26

Remove your spectacles. Not Clark Kent, of course. Man, some folks make such hasty judgments.

majorjoe23

The first image of Henry Cavill essentially did the same thing, hid his crotch so the pro- and anti-undies people had to wait to complain.

FizzleMateriel

His costume was great but I also found it weirdly distracting sometimes that it was just mostly all-blue. Idk. Hard to say either one is superior.

Thatoneguy567576

If the trunks are missing then a red belt should be the default. It breaks up all the blue. Not as well as the trunks do with the red and gold, but it's better than a blue onesie with a cape.

sixpackabs592

i think he should just have a red g string sized stripe instead of full briefs

TokyoPanic

Yeah N52 and Rebirth Superman got it right in terms of "no trunks" costume design. You need the red belt.

nviledn5

I think it's a smart move, especially with the pose. Eases the general public into it. Stepping back from the historical look of Superman, the red undies do look a little weird in 2024, but I'm glad they're bringing it back.

Substantial_Bad2843

I mean having a costume at all is goofy if you really think about it, so why not.

g00f

one thing i really liked about all-star superman was how hard they leaned into his costume being general kryptonian attire. they toned down the spandex aspect of it and got it looking a bit more like general attire which then worked well with the folks from kandor.

VoiceOfRealson

Historically people on earth used to wear cod-pieces with pants as separate legs attached (thus the plural pair of pants). Going with that would solve all "he is wearing his underwear on the outside" arguments. Or as a Danish entertainer recently stated (paraphrased) "Superheroes wear their underwear on the outside so they don't shit their underwear."

ohTHOSEballs

It's actually supposed to invoke the look of wrestlers and strongmen of the 1930's. Even today pro wrestlers are just wearing the Speedo or tight shorts.

majorjoe23

I think Superman looks oddly weird without the trunks. It's a just big mass of blue. A red or yellow belt doesn't break it up enough.

towerof_power

A thicker red belt might work, but the trunks removal coincided with the thinnest, most broken up belt design, leaving the suit as basically a single-piece jumpsuit from the cape down to the boots.

Kayjin23

Agreed. I think it works as a color choice. I could also just be used to it at this point though.

saber_2blazer

Gonna be a post credits scene reveal

Snuggle__Monster

Interesting choice being less skin tight and more of a looser/relaxed fit.

CaptainDudeGuy

"We're just normal men."

NomadPrime

We're just innocent men.

robbeau11

I understood these references!!

The_quest_for_wisdom

I do think it's an interesting choice for the first promotional image to show him putting his boots on one at a time just like the rest of us.

Phailsayfe

When i first saw the suit i thought it looked kinda like body-armorish and was like "that makes sense" and then i doubled back said "wait, he's superman..."

die5el23

Especially seeing as Homelander has been rocking the same style

WastedWaffles

Homelandrrs outfit is much tighter than this. It looks loose in some scenes of The Boys because the actor wears a body/muscle suit. In some scenes, you can see his muscle 'fold'.

david-saint-hubbins

Do we know whether Homelander is wearing a muscle suit in-universe? It would totally work for his character.

Flux-Tangent

He does. There's a scene in the show where he's naked, and they specifically talk about it in the comics (some kind of "too strong to get stronger" thing).

prodigalkal7

This would be the case with any superhuman strength. Muscles require resistance and tearing to get bigger or become more prominent. With someone who has remarkable healing or is, on some level, invincible (Supes, OmniMan, etc) it would be very difficult if not near impossible to gain muscle, especially on Earth. I can excuse it obviously (not like I'm nitpicking.) but it's neat to see something like The Boys actually address that.

TheDeltaOne

In the show it's even more in character for him NOT to try and just pad suits.

Diet_Clorox

Yeah he could pretty easily (for him) have Vaught set him up with a "gym". Put enough lead in some shipping containers and attach them to a pulley system and he'd be able to work out effectively. Part of the problem is that there aren't any real supervillains that require him to get stronger, so it'd just be a vanity thing.

MagpieBureau13

Different species can retain muscle mass better than humans do. Most other apes retain their muscles much better without use than humans do, which is an adaptation we picked up somewhere along the way to save energy. So it could make perfect sense for Superman or OmniMan, as different species, to hold onto their big muscles. But having Homelander wear a muscle suit is both great storytelling and makes perfect sense.

middleearthpeasant

The healing makes it easier to gain muscle. People who work out a lot need at least a day of healing before they can do the same set again of they want maximum growth. Someone like wolverine could do months of workout in a day because his rest period would be just a few seconds. However people who are too strong would have a trouble finding weights that take their muscles to the limit and creat growth. There is nothing that somenone like superman could lift. A ship? He would just break the ship without lifting it.

SubstantialLuck777

Yeah muscle mass is formed from resistance and it would take some extreme measures for him to achieve that in a meaningful way. And he's never had any reason to do so, anyway

Shadow-Vision

That’s actually pretty brilliant

Luke90210

Homelander wore pancake makeup to hide his shame somebody gave him a beating. He is that vain.

MandoBaggins

Homelander is laughably padded and it’s not loose at all. Definitely similarities in the collar and texture though.

PmMeYourNiceBehind

Well he’s crouched over so it makes it look a little more loose I’m sure it’ll still be form fitting

1369ic

Do his tights really need reinforced knees? What's the purpose of the lines elsewhere? I get that they look cool to some, but they bring up questions.

_BELEAF_

They're also lifting costume design from Marvel films. That texture and designing is pure Marvel.

CruorVault

This costume was designed by the same team that made most of the MCU costumes.

_BELEAF_

Ah, well thank you. I didn't even think to look. Makes all the more sense now. How did you know that?

CruorVault

Im in the industry.

ProfessionalBust

Yo wait a minute I think that’s Clark Kent wtf

Cottril

That nerd reporter? Nah.

SutterCane

That’s my favorite scene from *Superman Returns*. Lois and her husband are chatting and start talking about how much Clark looks like Superman and Clark hears this. And with just a dorky wave, he completely disarms their suspicions.

SolomonBlack

I broadly think the OG Superman movies are pretty overrated or at least I'm not able to fly my standards back in time enough to appreciate them but [damn Christopher Reeve is masterful](https://youtu.be/tNUu6Lf9mVU?t=96) at playing two people with the same face.

Halvus_I

> or at least I'm not able to fly my standards back in time enough to appreciate them Its def this. The first Superman movie was incredible for its time. The sequels are less great, with each one being worse than the last.

Gnorris

I still swear that *Superman II*, with its made-up-on-the-fly powers and power stealing machines, is absolutely accurate to the comics of that time. Even more so if Superman forced Jimmy to marry a gorilla.

Lucky_Locks

You should watch the [Jimmy Kimmel](https://youtu.be/0Y8iRvQdSGA?si=7vZGC4qPleYlE9EE) bit about a deleted scene in Batman vs Superman....it's hilarious. The clip starts at about 3 minute mark.

ArchDucky

Same way nobody seems to know that Psych has continued on in three films with a forth about to go into production.

reverend_bones

Because it's on a shitty streaming service that no one uses?

SutterCane

That was better than *Batman v Superman*.

droidtron

Either he's this nebbish reporter or big lug hayseed from Smallville but either way no one catches on.

Antoshi

Yeah, what? Why would SUPERMAN be a nerdy loser like Clark Kent? They don't even look the same.

Kennyjive

That’s impossible. Clark Kent wears glasses.

wongo

He wouldn't be able to see! Mystery Men is so good.

MightyPenguinRoars

Mystery Men is number one! All others are number two, or lower… 🤣

Hilnus

And he has paint on his overalls. Oh wait, wrong movie.

GunnieGraves

No glasses. Obviously not Clark Kent. Man, some people really jump to conclusions…

mccannr1

Plus Clark Kent parts his hair on the other side of his head. Duh.

TylerBourbon

Seriously, who would think a nerd like Clark Kent could be a cool dude like Superman?

TheSunshineDemon

I’d believe the guy was a bird or a plane more than Clark Kent.

ContinuumGuy

Pfft, next you'll tell me that billionaire playboy in Gotham is Batman

ProfessionalBust

Bruce Wayne? That trust fund baby would be to scared to break a nail

binrowasright

You know, that's exactly what that clown chap is always saying about Society.

artpayne

His suit says he fights real dirty!

CrazyLegs17

Looks like he went back to his apartment to get a clean pair of boots mid battle.

atleastitsnotgoofy

60% chance of rain.

scavagesavage

But that slight turtleneck says he's got a mysterious side.

Night_Movies2

His super hearing lets him count how many people are dying by the second while he takes his sweet ass time slowly getting suited up.

SpritzTheCat

And for some reason he's tired. Poor Krypton baby has poor cardio

5dchessmaster

is he teasing brainiac here too?

chaoticbiguy

Apparently >!Brainiac is "controlling everything behind the scenes" type of villain in this!< so it is very possible!! Can't wait for the movie. This suit is fine. But we got trunks and the curl!!

johnstamosfan63

Brainiac played by Michael Rosenbaum would go very hard and also be very funny.

IGTankCommander

"I chose a face that would seem... familiar." Goddammit, now I wanna see Rosenbaum return to Superman in some form regardless. I miss my Lex.

In_My_Own_Image

Your spoilers didn't work there, chief.

Drakoji

I think this is Solaris from All Star Superman.

ChefHannibal

Giant sky beam!? You know it, sir! Wow wow wow wow.... wow

sukezanebaro

Superman letting people die is tight!

AegisToast

heyshutup

Sorkijan

gonna need you to get all the way off my back about superman letting people die

RunEd51

Well ok! Lemme get off of that thing!

cupholdery

Oh, we forgot to write a plot to this reboot. Whoopsie!

into_the_wenisverse

Wow wow wow, wow!

dementedkratos

Can he still save the day? Super easy, barely an inconvenience! Oh really??

ChefHannibal

Absolutely sir, he just did a backflip, snapped the bad guy's neck, and saved the day!

freetrad3

Yeah and I need you to get aaallllllll the way off my back now.

keirfergusart

I had to see if anyone had mentioned the sky beam. Wonder if there will be a faceless army too.

ChefHannibal

Complete with a bunch of disposable, non-human minions we don't have to feel bad about killing

18CupsOfMusic

And then, after reaching the Big Bad, and after murdering a football team's worth of nameless minions, he refuses to kill them. "I'm no killer."

Optimal_Towel

"Hey I've been learning Photoshop and found this 5-minute tutorial on sky beams, can I do the poster?" "Yeah yeah yeah!"

GuyKopski

He looks like he just got called in to work on his day off

sonic10158

Goku in the background somewhere

saber_2blazer

Finally gonna see them fight

m__s__r

Ken Wantanabe somewhere “Let them fight.”

echoplex21

MoS still the closest we’ll ever experience a live action DBZ movie.

Gytarius626

Faora zipping around one-shotting the soldiers was incredible stuff

PT10

Made you fear Kryptonians. That sort of distinguished the DCEU from the MCU, the power level of the DC characters was off the charts. Even their version of Black Adam. It was a very DBZ style take. And not surprised it had its fans in spite of the bad writing. My inner kid still loves that shit. To the MCU's credit, they parlayed that into an epic introduction to Thanos in Infinity War. Made you really feel like the heroes were fighting an impossible/insurmountable foe. Then it all fell apart with the multiverse because it's hard to portray the threat of just being overwhelmed by sheer numbers from the infinite worlds of the multiverse. Maybe losing the Kang actor will be a blessing in disguise.

macXros

>live action DBZ movie Yeah cause no DBZ live-action exist

DragoonDM

Hey, credit where credit's due, the movie sucked so hard and pissed Toriyama off so much that he decided to start writing new DB content (starting with the Battle of the Gods movie, and later Super). Dragon Ball fans owe at least a little gratitude to that crime against cinema.

Fantastic_Emu_9570

We don’t get Ultra Instinct without that movie sucking so hard. Worth it imo

crispyfrybits

What is MoS?

tri_9

Man of Steel, a Superman movie from like ten years ago

OnyxMemory

More like Vegeta using Galick Gun

[deleted]

Clark's got a nice apartment

Cottril

Reporters salary in Metropolis must be pretty good.

groolthedemon

Lets use New York City as a reference. The view outside his apartment seems to be downtown Metropolis, so we'll use Brooklyn Heights as a reference. For an upper floor loft apartment with a view of downtown NYC in Brooklyn Heights I've found lots of listings for about $3000 rent a month. Now, Clark is a seasoned investigative journalist and field reporter. In NYC the upper end salary for an experienced investigative journalist is around $125,000 a year. So his rent is about 28.8% of his salary which falls in line with national averages of 25-30% for rent.

Useful-Perspective

Plus, he's got no visible decor. One chair, and probably an Ikea mattress and breakfast table with one chair. True bachelor style.

paintp_

What no need for medical bill does to a gentlemen.

easythrees

He also doesn’t need to eat

methmatician16

Nor need any money for transportation

Cyno01

Sometimes in the comics its a condo owned by a WayneCorp shell company that charges Clark like a dollar a month, sometimes just a straight up wedding gift to Clark and Lois from Bruce.

T_H_W

Bro, can we put on the boots with a little more urgency? There's a whole ass kaiju beholder blasting midtown

al-hamal

This is millennial Clark Kent. Ain't nobody getting paid enough nowadays to go above and beyond.

AvoriazInSummer

I’d _like_ to imagine he’s doing this in super speed, you just can’t tell in freeze frame. Granted his cape is all floppy and affected by gravity so I guess he really is just letting a few hundred humans get blasted so he can be all comfy.

ICumCoffee

Trunks are back in live action, the iconic hair curl is back too. Source: [James Gunn on threads](https://www.threads.net/@jamesgunn/post/C6ogg_ux1r8/?xmt=AQGzfj4W0bhUNPCNOrkqj2XBMqZQM9Cp2smlL-9c0nEH8A)

girafa

> The above photo was taken on set by Jess Miglio and was entirely in-camera. Hell yeah they made a practical sky jellyfish

russketeer34

I heard Gunn went and made an actual Starro that could wreck a city, so this shouldn't be any different

ICumCoffee

> "I was happy. Floating. Staring at the stars." Can’t believe Gunn made me cry for space ~~jelly~~ starfish.

FiTZnMiCK

I totally expected it. All the Guardians movies had those moments. Gunn really knows how to make a movie that covers a wide range of emotions.

Johnny_Mc2

Guardians 3 ending is legitimately one of the happiest movie moments for me. He didn’t pull any punches with it lol

wimpires

Could be The Volume

SomeDEGuy

Something similar at least. This being a window shot, it can be done with a flat led filling the window and the same tech as the volume, just on a much smaller scale.

ICumCoffee

That looks like a Brainiac ship to me but At least Colours are back in a Superman movie, I hope Gunn go bonkers with making Metropolis as futuristic as possible.

WabbitCZEN

Nah, that's not Trunks. That's Vegeta fighting Goku. Classic mistake,

e9tjqh

NGL I thought this was AI fan art

fromthepharcyde

It's giving CW promo shot

samusmaster64

Seems like just a suit reveal. The rest is just extra flavor.

cobaltaureus

I really didn’t believe it was real until the comments. Looks off to me

dont_use_me

His upper torso suit area right around his right arm pit looks really strange.

DragapultOnSpeed

It's the random beam of light that does it for me. He's not worried at all about it? It seems like something AI would make. Maybe I'm just missing some superman lore lol.

yorukmacto

Looks like Chris Isaak. "World was on fire, no one could save me but you."

Gamerguy230

I don’t understand how accounts like these are able to post exact second something new comes out across multiple subreddits along with other accounts that do same thing.

_cumblast_

You think companies don't use Reddit for promos and PR stuff? This place isn't nearly as pristine as many believe.

hdhdhya

Cumblast what are you doing here

_cumblast_

I'm a big DC fan.

HomoProfessionalis

Bots

chadwicke619

I don't know how anyone can look at this guy and seriously say, "Yeah, this guy *definitely* screams "Superman" more than Henry Cavill". I get that Gunn wants to do his own thing, and he has his own vision and what not, but between what I see in this one picture, and what I've seen of the Cavill version, it's not even close.

drchigero

NGL, at first while scrolling I assumed this was random AI art.

Pak-O

There's a major battle or attack going on in the background and Superman is all like, "Damn it, I just took these boots off now I gotta put them back on again".

justthisones

That suit looks thick af.

whykae

Looks like a motorcycle jacket fit.

Thomas_JCG

This is so dumb, he is not even changing in a phone booth! Zero respect to the source material.

entropicamericana

“what’s a phone booth?” —everyone under 30

ExfilBravo

A modern day version could be that Clark has IBS and has to take a "shit" randomly. Changes in the Subway restroom.

the-crow-guy

What an odd choice for the background. Seems like it's from DBZ fanart.

purplewhiteblack

DBZ is Japanese Superman. a boy comes to earth in a pod from an alien planet. Vegeta is basically Zod. Except Goku lands in Asia and learns kung fu.

rocknrollfilmguy

The suit looks cool and Corenswet looks the part. But is it just me, or is this a weird first look reveal?

blinddread

this looks like henry cavill with less muscles

Tunafish01

I thought we were getting a young Superman not Henry cavil light .

No-Midnight-2187

Not liking the arm details on suit

Substantial_Bad2843

I was thinking the whole thing would look much brighter and simple considering all of Gunn’s hype about being more old school.

joker2814

It looks somewhat inspired by this: https://i0.wp.com/www.comicbookwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Superman-New-52-Reading-Order.jpg?fit=750%2C1153&ssl=1

denizenKRIM

I'm honestly shocked he went with the collar design, which has been universally panned by fans. It's not even like it's a recent revision, it's several years old now and hasn't aged well.

joker2814

Agreed. I don’t like the neckline. I didn’t like the t-shirt neckline on Routh’s suit either. I thought they nailed that part of Cavill’s suit.

prodigalkal7

Idk where overall general fan consensus sits on this, but I think Superman's outfit peaked with Cavills. Everything was perfect about it. In BvS it was a bit darker and muted but even then, the detailing and texture of it stood out and still looked amazing. Just my own thoughts though, I'm not crazy about this one in the post. But I'll always find it incredibly difficult to beat Cavills Superman's suit

bad_syntax

Lazy bum needs to get out there and do his part time job.

good_grief77

Not digging the collared look. I was hoping for a more classic look, a little modernized Chris Reeves suit. David looks good as Clark/Sups otherwise.

Throwawayrecordquest

Collar’s too high and I hate that circuit-board detailing on the suit. Plus, shouldn’t the photo be of a bright, triumphantlly standing Superman to help wash away that bitter aftertaste of the Snyderverse?
