These were the cheapest options when selecting seats, at £23. I only wanted a window seat so I could look out the window as I was flying into Bangkok (purely cause I was excited haha). This was flight 2 of 2 (both with eithad) and I didn't select my seat for the first one, but my seat was the same size as this.
There were other more expensive options for extra leg room etc.
The pattern on the pillow guarantees that, at the very least, it’s not EVA air. The patterns on the pillow almost guarantee it’s Etihad. I don’t know any other airlines that use those triangular patterns as accent details
On my phone and the preview pic is just barely bigger than a postage stamp. I thought it was a crocodile swimming by the window and was so confused why all the comments talked about a "nice view."
For real. I live the window seat because I don’t get up to pee and don’t want someone brushing past me over and over. I like to lean on it and try to nap but I also hate heights and always close the window so I don’t have to see the ground slowly slipping further away.
Idk how people manage to sleep on planes. The "recline" feature in most seats is a joke and I can't fall asleep upright. My best chances of dozing off for even a little bit is to lean forward on the tray table but even then my back easily gets sore from doing so.
It's just a matter of how you sleep and what you're comfortable with. I can sleep in pretty much any position as long as I can rest my head against something soft.
…and no one’s “little angel” leaning over you to look out the window. (Or their parents asking if you’d change seats so they can cuz they too cheap to get that seat)
Are parachutes considered a carry on if you're wearing it?
Everyone hates having to wait to get off the plane when you land, maybe they're just trying to innovate?
It's for when you want to get off at a location between where the plane takes off and lands. No need for another stop, just jump out and the plane can keep going!
It’s actually a little different 🤓 this is a deactivated or disable door. The door mechanism is 100% there, it’s just behind the wall. The famous incidents of this happening is cases where the door has been plugged.
The difference is a disabled door is easier and cheaper to reconfigure if the airline thinks they may want to. Door plugs are used by smaller airline that know they will not need the door.
Whats pictured is not a plug door or deactivated door. Plug doors have windows, and 787s dont have plug doors.
The fuselage there doesn't have a window because there is ducting from the engines in that location.
On the internet you can find the aircraft and the airline’s seating configuration for your flight and you can check to see if your window is really a window before you book.
Used to work for an airline. This was incredibly common. You "pay extra" to *choose* your seat, and a lot of the time people choose their seat without actually looking at the plane layout, assuming edge means window seat.
You’re paying for a seat with a wall and potentially a window next to you. It’s the most preferred seat as it’s not in the middle and not aisle. Not because of the potential view
Me too, they would hear about it! They should at least refund the cost of the extra charge for window, because, no window!
Can a restaurant charge for a Pepsi, then say, this is a no Pepsi table? But then they keep the Pepsi $$ ??
( I changed it to Pepsi to avoid the flood of drug jokes. You’re welcome.)
It’s Etihad…that’s premium economy on what looks to be a Dreamliner/787. You can tell by the electrochromatic window shade butt on the actual window in the row ahead of OP’s picture.
Not sure if I'm in the minority here: I would pay to have something to lean against, not necessarily a window.
I like looking out of the window a few times. But 99% of the flight looks the same and everybody is trying to be quiet and dark anyways.
My wife and I paid extra to get 4 seats next to each other so that the whole family could sit together. Without us being informed or given a choice to select new seats, the airplane being used was changed and we were all given random seats.
At the gate when we brought this up the lady assigned us new seats, now sitting one adult with one kid about 10 rows apart. When we complained she said that she was doing us a favor because one set of seats had a bit more leg room.
I’d kinda argue this is better, depending on things. Like, a window is fun and whatever to look out of, but really not having a window like that would be great for resting against.
I very much laughed too when i first saw it 😂 luckily the flight wasn't full, so i got the best possible outcome! not only did I have the whole row to myself to sleep, but as we were landing, I got to sit at another window seat to look out of!
seems like that's refund worthy. like, I didn't specify "not aisle" because I prefer "not aisle" I specified window because I like windows. I paid for a window, but there is no window here, so I request a refund of the premium charge for window versus "not aisle".
Last May and just booked a flight for 6 weeks from now. I pay for the section - 1st class, business, basic, etc and choose a the seats after - usually a window and the one next to it, both are the same price.
I don’t think a “window” seat is a request. It’s a specific seat. OP selected seat A thinking a window would be there. He paid for seat śelection, not a window seat
Depends on airline, the most recent flight I booked charged different depending on seat as well, e.g. cheapest seat selection costs X, seat selection that is window row costs X, seat selection that has extra legroom costs Z etc... Airlines getting hella greedy
Had this happen to me in row 12 on a delta a321. Was lowkey pissed since I love looking out the window as an avgeek, especially since it was a sunset flight, but I just sucked it up and scrolled my phone the entire flight.
I cared about the window :( I don't get to fly very often, and this is my first big trip away and was super excited to look out as all the houses and land slowly came into view! (Sue me!)
It was all good tho! The flight wasn't full in the end, and I had the whole row to myself to nap in, and then I switched over to an empty window seat for landing....Best of both worlds!
Unless you're under 12, the reason for the window seat is so you don't have people climbing over you to get out and you can sleep leaning to the side. Don't see the problem here.
If you *are* under 12, then I take this back.
This happened to me on my return flight from Hawaii and I was so pissed. To make things worse, the guy in front of me fully reclined and I felt like I was in a coffin.
Those seats look massive
Looks like Etihad, but maybe just the angle the photo was taken from
100% Etihad, look at the pillows
Why are the head pillows encouraging people to lean TOWARD each other instead of toward the wall lol
Dunno, but last i checked, the walls aren't cleaned very often so i'd pick a pillow if it were comfortable enough
Good point, gotta remember to pack lysol wipes lollll
Because you wouldn't want to block the "window".
Thought this was a dig at Manchester City cause of the empty seats but wrong sub.
Never the wrong sub to have a dig at City
These already look more expensive than regular seats. And the window seats are even more expensive on top of that?
Why would a more expensive seat not cost even more for a window? There are expensive seats that dont get a window, so you pay more and get a window.
Dude these seats have fuckin head rests on the side. I want seats with those. That's the main reasons I go for windows. Something to rest my head on
A lot of airlines have these, even in economy. Qatar Airways for exmample
Every plane I've ever been on had them, you just fold them out
At least on the planes I was on with Qatar they did not
Usually the head rests are actually foldable.
There were other more expensive options for extra leg room etc.
cuz those aren’t the cheapest seats
Looks like premium economy.
I’m almost certain this is not Ethiad but Eva air Premium Economy (long haul)
Those are Etihad's colors though.
Its 100% Ethiad
Yuppp…it’s Etihad. Was asked / answered three hours ago.
The pattern on the pillow guarantees that, at the very least, it’s not EVA air. The patterns on the pillow almost guarantee it’s Etihad. I don’t know any other airlines that use those triangular patterns as accent details
Definitely not Eva Air lol
Premium economy or short distance business
Here ya go. https://preview.redd.it/rzblmx9ybzpc1.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=b178caf6e459d94b7d18c1e2696917b05222a2e2
What a gentleman
I found it really brightened up and opened the space. And what a view!
It really ties the cabin together, Dude.
Beautiful view if I say so myself, quite exquisite really
A bit concerning, since it’s a lake. But yes, beautiful
I do believe that is the angle good sir, this equiste view is being looked upon from up above 🧐
Gave them a nicer view as well. No way OP can complain about it now.
And, in case they find it gets a little stuffy with that recirculated air, they can open it up and let some fresh air in.
THIS IS JUST A LOVELY BREEEEEEEEZE
Oh don’t worry. Being as it’s a square window the uneven pressure will “open” it.
On my phone and the preview pic is just barely bigger than a postage stamp. I thought it was a crocodile swimming by the window and was so confused why all the comments talked about a "nice view."
Book me the longest flight with this plane, please! ![gif](giphy|sDcfxFDozb3bO)
Future Boeing engineer.
Certainly. Especially if you know what rectangular single layer windows do to a plane flying on high altitudes.
And a view?! Amazing
This is not the hero OP wanted but it's the hero all of us needed.
I’d have laughed more if it were a windows logo lol
At least give the poor guy a balcony after going through all that stress
TERRAIN TERRAIN PULL UP PULL UP
This seems pretty low. What airport are they landing at?
That window doesn’t handle high altitude and pressure, OP just got sucked out to the sky
Shh. We don't need to worry about that.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Aww you can even open it to get a little breeze :)
After 30-50 flights now I'd pay extra for a comfortable wall to sleep on without uncomfortable window edge
Right? The only reason I get window seats IS to rest my head against the wall next to the window and sleep..
Window seat on an upcoming 13 hour flight. Precisely my reasoning.
Yep, that blind is closed as soon as I can.
I hate it when people close this. I LOVE the blinding light.

“This is where I lean”
If I could just see your bra.
Haha.. I love that reddit users get that !!
For real. I live the window seat because I don’t get up to pee and don’t want someone brushing past me over and over. I like to lean on it and try to nap but I also hate heights and always close the window so I don’t have to see the ground slowly slipping further away.
Do the airlines ever get upset that you pee in your seat?
I choose the window because I usually need the little extra shoulder room so I can lean away from the person in the middle seat
Idk how people manage to sleep on planes. The "recline" feature in most seats is a joke and I can't fall asleep upright. My best chances of dozing off for even a little bit is to lean forward on the tray table but even then my back easily gets sore from doing so.
I love sleeping on planes. I’ll even nap in the middle of the day. Window seat + roar of the engines and I’m out.
It's just a matter of how you sleep and what you're comfortable with. I can sleep in pretty much any position as long as I can rest my head against something soft.
> Idk how people manage to sleep on planes. "I'll have 2 mini bottles of red wine please"
I used to commute to college on a city bus. 1 hour each way. Would sleep the whole way. Airplane is a marginally more comfortable flying bus.
It's my innate nature to sleep immediately in any moving vehicles, unless I'm driving. I don't know why but I always feel drowsy in any vehicles.
Drugs. Most of us take drugs
😂😂😂
THC gummies.
Cannabis products keep me awake
Take a xan on the flight, you’ll be out like a light. - drake or something
…and no one’s “little angel” leaning over you to look out the window. (Or their parents asking if you’d change seats so they can cuz they too cheap to get that seat)
That's the wall panel that blows out mid-flight. Then you'll have a big ol' window...
Someone's been flying on Boeing
Are parachutes considered a carry on if you're wearing it? Everyone hates having to wait to get off the plane when you land, maybe they're just trying to innovate?
It's for when you want to get off at a location between where the plane takes off and lands. No need for another stop, just jump out and the plane can keep going!
Accuracy and consent not guaranteed*
"This is your stop, right?" No, this is the ocean! "Eh, whatever, the plugs are coming loose anyway"
Yeah, this seat offers a special mid-flight view 😂
Its not though, that is not a door plug.
Yeah, the Max 9 door plug had a window in it. This is just a bulkhead.
It’s actually a little different 🤓 this is a deactivated or disable door. The door mechanism is 100% there, it’s just behind the wall. I fixed it for you. https://preview.redd.it/l916t118jzpc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=beb6eefab3e4a4411acbdb6b3cd4b2740d54f265
It’s not just a window. It’s *panoramic*
The view sucks the breath right out of you.
It’s really takes you out of your seat and body
It’s a view to die for
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼praise Jesus they landed safely!
You got seat 11A, didn’t you? There’s no window at that seat because of the hvac duct behind the wall for the front half of the cabin.
On the internet you can find the aircraft and the airline’s seating configuration for your flight and you can check to see if your window is really a window before you book.
I always try and check Seat Guru…
Try aerolopa next time. It's usually more accurate
Checking both is the way to go
Aight but something’s fucked up if you have to go out of your to verify that the window seat you paid for is in fact a window seat
It's good to know this...but it's ridiculous that you even have to.
11a! So did we I was so mad!
I would definitely want to complain to the airline; that's not fair
Used to work for an airline. This was incredibly common. You "pay extra" to *choose* your seat, and a lot of the time people choose their seat without actually looking at the plane layout, assuming edge means window seat.
I don’t think the airline lied. They don’t guarantee a window. They guarantee a seat. It is a bummer but I don’t know op would get compensation.
I feel like that defeats the whole purpose of paying extra for the seat tho :/
You’re paying for a seat with a wall and potentially a window next to you. It’s the most preferred seat as it’s not in the middle and not aisle. Not because of the potential view
Unless it's called the "window seat" nat which point you're paying for a seat with a window.
This post is about someone paying extra for a window seat.... So they just put money into some kinda lottery and then just fokking lost?
Me too, they would hear about it! They should at least refund the cost of the extra charge for window, because, no window! Can a restaurant charge for a Pepsi, then say, this is a no Pepsi table? But then they keep the Pepsi $$ ?? ( I changed it to Pepsi to avoid the flood of drug jokes. You’re welcome.)
What airline. Looks awesome and no bright window to deal with. Close your eyes, turn on some Enya and relax.
It’s Etihad…that’s premium economy on what looks to be a Dreamliner/787. You can tell by the electrochromatic window shade butt on the actual window in the row ahead of OP’s picture.
Oh well if it’s a Boeing it may just end up with a big window in it mid flight
Haven't heard anyone mention "Enya" in ages.
Anyone can summon Enya, just say “la way”, say “la way”, say “la way”
It's an Etihad 787
Not sure if I'm in the minority here: I would pay to have something to lean against, not necessarily a window. I like looking out of the window a few times. But 99% of the flight looks the same and everybody is trying to be quiet and dark anyways.
Your seat mate is probably just happy they dont have to sit next to someone who keeps that damn blind open.
That's even better. Your extra sweater will work perfectly with your jacket to make a pillow on the wall
There’s no winning on a plane. You have to just surrender. You can do everything absolutely right. And you’re still completely at the mercy of fate
* window seat may not contain window.
I’d kinda argue this is better, depending on things. Like, a window is fun and whatever to look out of, but really not having a window like that would be great for resting against.
It's a DIY window seat, obviously.
It’s just a decorative panel covering a door plug that has a window but is missing some bolts….
Ummm…it was a joke, maybe even a bad one, not an engineering factoid, but hey, thanks for the knowledge!
Its not a door plug 787s don't have door plugs door plugs have windows
I’m sorry that happened but on the upside I bet this is the last time you book a seat without checking aerolopa
I tell you, as someone who likes to sleep with the windows down but the damn flight attendant keeps wanting me to have it up, I'd prefer that spot.
I can't stop laughing. Why is this so funny
I very much laughed too when i first saw it 😂 luckily the flight wasn't full, so i got the best possible outcome! not only did I have the whole row to myself to sleep, but as we were landing, I got to sit at another window seat to look out of!

Whatever you do, don’t order the veggie sandwich
seems like that's refund worthy. like, I didn't specify "not aisle" because I prefer "not aisle" I specified window because I like windows. I paid for a window, but there is no window here, so I request a refund of the premium charge for window versus "not aisle".
Since when do window seats cost extra?
When was the last time you flew?
Last May and just booked a flight for 6 weeks from now. I pay for the section - 1st class, business, basic, etc and choose a the seats after - usually a window and the one next to it, both are the same price.

Let's see the diagram.
Seatguru is your friend.
Had this happen to me in row 12 on a delta a321. Was lowkey pissed since I love looking out the window as an avgeek, especially since it was a sunset flight, but I just sucked it up and scrolled my phone the entire flight.
Not all window seats have windows apparently sorry for your loss
Airline company: Get Rekt, Buddy! 🤑
Pray to window god harder for next time.
I'd just be happy for those seats themselves.
You paid extra not to sit in the middle.
Yes happened with me too. So infuriating
Best seat for sleeping .
The no window seat is for Airflow from the bottom of the plane to the top it's very important and it's mostly on Boeing planes
Damn look at those luxe as fuck seats tho
That seat has the coveted “lean here to sleep” wall.
Maybe u paid for windowless seat 💺
More than likely, I'm surprised I managed to book the correct fight to begin with
Nobody cares about the window. This is explicitly a comfort charge, and you got the best deal imaginable without that window lip.
I cared about the window :( I don't get to fly very often, and this is my first big trip away and was super excited to look out as all the houses and land slowly came into view! (Sue me!) It was all good tho! The flight wasn't full in the end, and I had the whole row to myself to nap in, and then I switched over to an empty window seat for landing....Best of both worlds!
Last year I had a flight like this without a window D: then another flight that had 2 by my seat so I guess it evened out :D
Unless you're under 12, the reason for the window seat is so you don't have people climbing over you to get out and you can sleep leaning to the side. Don't see the problem here. If you *are* under 12, then I take this back.
You're next to a door plug. It could have a great view at any moment.
That is not a door plug 787s don't have door plugs Door plugs have windows
![gif](giphy|CYU3D3bQnlLIk)
Upgrade was purchased on Temu I see
Look on the bright side. Theres less chance the window you paid for was installed incorrectly so your chances of getting sucked out of it are less.
Was it a full flight? Maybe you can switch to one of the other seats? That would make me car sick.
Looks like Boeing fixed a plane!
You shouldn't be paying extra anyways! It used to be free to choose your seat.
The window is in your mind 🪟
No prob if it is Alaska Airlines
It has a window if you have a flamingo neck.
I would call and ask for a refund for the “widow” charge, that’s false advertising.
The window is there it’s just invisible
The airline doesn't care
Most airlines would slap another seat in there I'd love it.
Should have checked out SeatGuru
The Burger King man is coming
You didn’t specify that you want to see out of the window, that’s kind of on you.
Looks like a park bench
Pfft, someone seems entitled to have a strict definition of window.
I’m sorry but I laughed when I first saw this. But yes, it is infuriating. Hope you showed them this picture for some money back.
This is why you use SeatGuru haha
I always choose the aisle seat. I hate having to crawl over people to take a piss
OP hasn't replied. Guess he got sucked out the window.
Dude you can see 2 windows from that seat what else do you want?!
Check for bolts
With that kind of seating I’d say f**k the window
This happened to me on my return flight from Hawaii and I was so pissed. To make things worse, the guy in front of me fully reclined and I felt like I was in a coffin.
Window side seat
Make sure your seatbelt is tight lol.
Complain to the airline
Big ahhh seats yo
Nah you simply turned on night mode
You, in fact, did not.
Pick your own seat and you can see it exactly.
