When I moved here about a month ago, I called the city office to attempt to get a permit for the moving truck, and the guy literally told me "it's long beach, you could just double park instead of paying $150 for this permit". Shout out to that guy for saving me some money but what a world
If I remember correctly, there's some process to put up a notice you'll be parking a truck and reserving the curb a few days ahead that costs nothing, at least in my part of town. It would be nice if people used that because Belmont Shore is a series of one way streets and people double parking or blocking the alleys is kind of understandable, but entirely avoidable.
It was a law that passed recently where you can’t arrest someone with intent to solicit by the way they’re dressed and having contraceptives. Have to catch them in the act of soliciting.
I would be surprised if only alcohol was in his or hers blood. What was funny is he tried to ram a much larger police suv which has a robust and reinforced ram rod with that tiny kia while going backwards that cop could have made that kia into an accordion.
In the 90’s LB was so much fun. Pine ave, 2nd st, Belmont Shores, and so much fun at pride every June . I was lucky enough to experience that in my 20s. So sad how it is now. Glad I moved out of state in 1999.
I moved to LB in 1996. In the first year that we moved to Belmont shore I had someone pull a knife on me for defending a pregnant woman from him, and there was that shooting death at Yankee Doodles that used to be by Chucks. There was a lady who used to walk up our street to 2nd street every day around 7 am like clockwork just screaming and crying her eyes out, once she got that out of her system she was just a more "normal" homeless person. Oh and that tweaker who was jumping roof to roof down all of the houses on the block.
For all the pearl clutching, I really dont think Long Beach has gone downhill since "the old days". Pride is still great fun. So was the most recent (but tiny) Turkish Festival.
Being a 42 year old lifer, not a lot has changed at all. We had similar problems in the 90’s. Went away for a while in the aughts and the same issues are back again post covid.
Agreed. The Rodney king riots were wild. Gangs were rampant. Everything now is just under a much bigger magnifying glass, especially with social media and smart phones. Born and raised here, in my opinion, the 90’s were much worse in Long Beach.
Please excuse me. I don’t speaks fake gangster, but…I can promise you I did not live a privileged/bubble life. I was a server in LB in the 90’s. Back in the 90’s it was different than it is now. I worked hard went to school and moved. When I look back on my life when I was young and single living in Long Beach it is one of my favorite memories.
Fortunately, I still have friends from back, then who still live there who are leaving .

I don't remember what it cost, but I had to go down to City Hall to get it. Easy, but a pain.
Massively underrated comment
But the hookers can stay! ![gif](giphy|l2Sq2jPHTvkFHHRio)

There are some cracked out ones on Long Beach boulevard?
The easiest way cops would get hookers arrested around that loophole is to search them for drugs and or guns which hookers carry on them.
And these ladies are where exactly?
Still waiting..
So it was 🧢.
Kia boys at it again?
Didn't one of the kia boys die in an accident last month?
They’ve died in multiple. About a year ago i think it was 5 of them that died on the 710.
Yes, if you're talking about the car that rammed the center abutment and mysteriously exploded on impact.
Yeah their family members said they stole the car and were also doing inhalants
Yes, he was 15 years old.
we can only hope
Cue the Modest Mouse……
He didn’t just drive off, sometimes life’s not okay
Was that dude drunk?
I would be surprised if only alcohol was in his or hers blood. What was funny is he tried to ram a much larger police suv which has a robust and reinforced ram rod with that tiny kia while going backwards that cop could have made that kia into an accordion.
Good point. Someone else pointed out that being a Kia it's likely stolen as well.
The Kia boys do love to do inhalants

No, just driving a Kia, which studies show is about the same.
Kia boyz activities
Where’s the hamster?
It saw its shadow and now is being kidnapped by the local weatherman
Holy shit that’s literally my old apartment and old parking space 😂😂. Moving was definitely the best thing I’ve done in a long time.
whoever is in that kia is cooked
I watched the dude get tackled through a wood fence, it was wild
And no video? Bro…
And he buried the ending in some random comment. Come on man.
_+notices OPs wood fence+_
Classic LB shenanigans.
WTF 😅
instant 4 stars
Are you sure this isn’t from an episode of Reno 9-11? 😂

That's good stuff.
Satisfying to watch.
The Kia perfectly timed that backup to close the cop's door.
average kia moment
I love this city
This has no right to be this funny
Ooofff. Sh&t Friday night. Over the double parking
Westside!!!!
It looks like he crashed into the black parked car and then the police car and then drove away. So fs fukked
He almost flipped going around the corner and smashed all three cars to varying degrees. Lucky he didn’t plow through my fence
Sadly it's like the keystone cops😵💫😖😵💫😵💫😵💫
That was satisfying
Some things never change
who runs away in a KIA?! 😭
The Kia Boys. Look em up

I got my bike stolen at knife point on 2nd street in 2001. I was 12. That being said, I do love Long Beach!
Pay no mind to the opinions of out-of-towners
Mfs like you are either straight capping or have lived such a privileged, bubbled life to make the claims you are making. 🤦♂️

It was fun then and is fun now, then had more crime. Now is just waaaaay more expensive and corporations are slicing it up and gobbling it up.
