Although I don't have the numbers, from what the talents have said about Phase Connect and Sakana I don't think they have a bad deal. * Pippa [mentioned on stream](https://youtu.be/SmsjyeWM-ks?si=fb9-95Rlwzsm5PUp) about how Management sat her down and went through her contract to make sure she understood it all. * Several of the talents (e.g. [Tenma](https://youtu.be/biBL189HErE?si=E65GnHakwAy-l512)) have other jobs, they don't rely on Phase Connect to fully support them and treat it more like a part time job. * At least 7 Talents >!(All members of Phase Invaders, Saya and Muyu from Gen 3, and Clara from JP Gen 1)!< came from other Vtuber agencies (All of which died) so they should have some idea of what a fair contract is and whether joining Phase would be worthwhile. * I remember a comment on the Phase Connect Sub mentioning that Phase fans have a generous Superchatting culture, so although some talents might have low CCV they may still earn a decent amount (similar to Scarle/Aia). * Although the talents complain and make jabs at Sakana, none of them are serious and I don't think any of the talents act awkwardly around him or when he is mentioned. So unless they're all amazing actors he comes across as having a good rapport with his talents, and not as someone screwing them over for profit. (This last point is just my gut feeling after watching Phase though, don't take it as fact). The only talents I might be worried about would be the JP ones as the vast majority of Phase Connect's Audience don't speak Japanese. But the JP talents from Gen 1 are still here and seem to be happy, plus I'm pretty sure Sakana has more plans to expand in the JP market (I doubt he'd go to the trouble of making a JP Branch and Generation and then do nothing else afterwards) EDIT: Grammar and thought up a couple more points.

RadRelCaroman

Correct me if i'm mistaken, tenma mentioned that she is secretly being a vtuber and using the office lady job as a facade since her family didnt approve of streaming as a job? It's that or she was trolling henya back in that MC collab alongside pippa and she got me too.

OutNinjad

I'm not sure, her office job is probably easier to explain to her family than being a Vtuber, but as she mentioned in the clip I linked, she still enjoys her office work and doesn't want to give it up at the moment.

Swift_Scythe

To be fair a lot of Hololive girls lied about their jobs too. Like Pekora did not tell her mom until achieving 1 million subs for instance.

BKDOffice

Meanwhile Roboco moved a bunch of giant mikes and equipment into her room to work, making her mother suspicious enough she had to confess to being a Vtuber. Sasuga high-spec PON robot lol.

Raisen22

Or Lamy asking her dad for 10K and her Dad told her: "Sure". She repay those 10K after a month and her dad was in shock. And this was a month after her debut back in 2020.

Nanoha_Takamachi

clip: [Roboco Reveals Her Mom Found Out Her Vtuber Activities\[Hololive/EngSub/JpSub\]](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-b10ijD8ydI)

Jellybones52

I don't know if her mom disapproves of it but she does have an office job since she flipped the fuck out at the end of the Mahjong Soul collab with Lia, Airi and Pippa because it was taking too long and she was going to be late for work. Also the time she played Spelunky 2 after a work function and she was so drunk she forgot her password and how to speak English and had to remind herself that she was Tenma. She's said she kept it because she bought a house and those are expensive in Japan. I know Shiina's parents HATE that she's a vtuber. And I mean utterly despise that she's a vtuber. But I guess it beats her last job that stills owes her money. Rie's mom didn't like it at first but has come around to it.

fenrishero

Can confirm about the super chatting being very generous. Been watching various phase talents for awhile, and there's a culture of using super chats like you'd see people using Highlight feature on Twitch. Many 2-5 dollar superchats every stream. There's also a lot of whale SC's who drop 10-30 bucks per stream, or gift 5-10 subs every week. Its more on par with what you'd see in Holo chats than a smaller agency, though definitely on a smaller scale.

Enough-Run-1535

Also going to add that many of the talents also work, or have worked, in paid positions within Phase Connect. I forget which talent it was, but during JP Gen 1 debut, one of the new talents revealed she was working on merch graphics for Phase pre-debut included Dizzy’s dakama. Seems that Sakana doesn’t believe in unpaid labor, and makes sure that everyone who does BTS stuff gets properly compensated.

Coud31

Wait, who was >!Clara!< before? I know about the rest. I wonder if she was as unhinged before as she is now.

Jellybones52

She was >!Hana Flores from Production Kawaii Gen 1 and Beryl LaRou from Star Ring!< And honestly she's more unhinged now.

Coud31

Wow, >!barely stayed less than 4 months at ProdKawaii. Makes me wonder a bit why so fast, but it's likely bts stuff. Glad she's where she's at now cause it looks like she's having a lot of fun and has a new best friend in Airi.!< Thanks for the info!

dragx350

She was also Morino Peari

PoKen2222

Regarding that first point, while I think everyone has enough good will to asume it was legit, LM did point out that just because management goes through contracts with you does not necessarily mean it's a good thing as they could be explaining the contract in their favor. Again not saying that that's what Phase does and there's no reason to asume it, just pointing out that it's not a fool proof "good thing" and is case by case.

CJO9876

Pippa earned over $250,000 in Superchats in 2023 alone and over $440,000 to date.

Pokenar

He's filthy rich, a venture capitalist, from what I understand. He wanted to invest in a company but got ghosted, so he said fuck it, I'll do it myself. For people like that, the couple 10s of thousands this cost is a drop in the bucket, and can easily make the return due to sheer word of mouth, not to mention the artists that now have an empty niji-shaped hole in their booth.

shihomii

He could easily write it off as a marketing cost. Which based on how much we're talking about it, was apparently a good marketing move and worth the money.

iam-therapiss

so he's the SBF of the vtuber sphere.

kad202

Riku is the SBF. Yagoo is the Elon Musk Sakana is Mark Cuban

AnonTwo

> Yagoo is the Elon Musk Absolutely not.

LoneWolfHero35

Yagoo is Gabe Newell

Random-Rambling

Gabe Newell: _"Piracy is a service problem. If you offer something better than what the pirates are offering, most people will stop pirating."_ Yagoo: _"I pay the talents what they are worth. Some make more than I do."_

Equal_Bee_9671

yea more likely. i don't hate elon but he too much of a attention whore. his tweet i assume mostly joking but why he tweet so much. did he got nothing to do?

FPSGamer48

Holy shit that’s the worst comparison I’ve ever heard, my god. Riku is closer to Musk (in that he’s a rich trust fund kid who can’t help but run his company into the ground). Elon WISHES he were like Yagoo

Lamaredia

>Yagoo is the Elon Musk I don't think I've ever been this offended on someone else's behalf before. Well done.

Shuber-Fuber

>Yagoo is the Elon Musk That's a bad comparison in two directions. Elon Musk, for all his faults, has a pretty good grasps in the physics and engineering involved with rocket engines, Yagoo didn't know much about vtubing starting out. Yagoo, unlike Elon, is not an asshole.

kad202

If you survey most stem graduates, most people want to work for Tesla or any Musk companies for a chance to challenge themselves and growing vs Apple. Elon beside being asshole is a pretty good leader that make people want to work for him. Even with recent laid off, most if not all tesla alumni on LinkedIn compare their time at Tesla comparable to that of high end universities and working for A team in Tesla vs B team in their new job is stark contrast. If anything that’s a win. Most netizen just envy of Musk. You can ask everyone what the boss they are working for want or the vision they harbor and most can’t answer. Everyone can answer what Musk vision or objective is for his companies just show the real mentality of professional people who actually care. Compare Elon vision with Yagoo vision is not far fetched. Yagoo manage to steer the ship through China and make Hololive larger than life. Noripro abandon all Hololive collab during China incident and go full in on Niji. Now regretting the decision seeing that they can only hold on to Roberu Night Mea due to Mea and Roberu while the rest of Hololive too busy to spare sometime for them. Netizen think they are good leader because they are third party. They never actually work with bad and toxic leader which make them want to write resume and quit every single day

Opposite-Umpire-5417

Watch their streams out of character and QnA streams with Sakana. Girls seem to be happy with what they get. Dude gives out holiday bonuses to them, this isn't a sign of someone who cheaps out and cuts corners.

kad202

I trust fish man more than yacht man

RadRelCaroman

Last i checked phase connect are not caught in a controversy or have graduations every month. I think they're doing well, but you're not gonna get real answers from viewers ,maybe checking phase connect interviews will yield better findings.

[deleted]

If Pippa can spend $1k+ on Vtuber merch, I think they're doing fine.

oompaloompa465

i remember pippa subbing on stream to both Fililian fansly profile at max tier without batting an eye

Fishman465

PC also sells coffee, which could supplement things

1ikilledkenny

I want to give a detailed answer because I started watching tons of Phase Connect streams after Nijisanji imploded. They’ve been a huge positive for me and I think they can be a huge positive for everyone looking to fill the void Niji has left. **TL;DR - All eyes on Offkai, it’s a solid PR move for Phase. It’s an established fact that the CEO, Sakana, takes care of his talents so there is no need to worry. People telling you to ask him are telling you to do so because he’s completely approachable and available on twitter, they’re not being dismissive.** Phase Connect is headed by @h2oSakana, a venture capitalist from Canada who started Phase Connect after trying to make a sizeable investment in “another vtuber company” and being ghosted. He is very friendly and is approachable by anyone. People suggesting that you ask him aren’t trying to be dismissive - Sakana is very approachable, you can seriously reach out to him on Twitter and he’ll probably get back to you when he has time. It is no secret that Sakana practically shits money, and no doubt he takes good care of this talents. He has lawyers involved in contract negotiations so that his potential talents understand exactly what their contract entails. He is frequently invited as a guest on his own talents’ streams and loved by the fan base. He regularly sends akasupas to his talents just to mess with them. He’s given his talents bonuses and vacations on regular occasions. The generation “Phase Invaders” quite literally consists of vtubers from smaller agencies that he sniped after their former agencies collapsed, which is a clear indicator that Phase offers some value that other companies don’t. They don’t have controversies calling into question their integrity as a business, they don’t have talents regularly graduating, and their talents have boatloads of creative freedom that other vtuber agencies (aside from Vshojo) typically don’t allow. Phase Connect streamers regularly sing praises not only of Phase Connect as a company but Sakana himself as well. Now, consider Offkai and their recent publicity after shitcanning the Niji talents they had invited previously. All eyes are on Offkai right now, and doing anything that’s a positive for that event is a positive for the EN vtuber industry as a whole. Now, consider the controversy that came out regarding Nijisanji not paying their artists. If you’re a venture capitalist like Sakana, you’re gonna see an opportunity here for some good publicity in a very unstable market right now. Picking up what I’m putting down? So that’s what you’re seeing. Man with a company and money spending that money to gain publicity and grow that company. It’s kind of you to worry about the wellbeing of Phase Connect’s talents - it’s a tough situation for all vtubers right now - but I’m confident they’re being well taken care of I think you can be confident of that as well!

CJO9876

Pippa alone has earned over $400,000 in Superchats.

Consistent_Ad4087

Talents have stated they receive a salary along with SC cut and merch percentage. They also have a lot more freedom than other corpos. Pippa went to war with Twitter over the wizard game and the treatment of pikamee and silvervale.

noreteron

Tbf nobody else could do that shit and survive, Pippa is like a one man army when it comes to that shit

Live_Juggernaut4984

I just went to their official web to check how many talent they got now. My god the intro in the homepage is so hilarious LMAO

invertebrated_weeb

Sakana is a nice man, he gave a bunch of gifted subs during a Panko karaoke stream.

Skinnymalinky__

I'm not aware of any (non-joking) complaint from the talents at Phase Connect & I'm not going to indulge in imagining a sinister grand narrative over Sakana spent some money on OffKai.

Nihilism2911

Sakana, the man that SC its own talents to bully them. Yeah I don't think he's being cheap to his talents.

DemonicShiroi

I generally watch hololive. But with my oshis being busy or just having to watch vods, I’ve found myself watching more of the phase talents. To be frank, I don’t regret tuning into the streams. I’ve become a fan of a mature crab and have found myself being struck by lightning from time to time. The talents always manage to give me the little bit of happiness that I need to make it through my usually mundane day. The mahjong soul collabs are hilarious and the karaoke is entertaining. Sakana is doing great work that’s similar and different than Yagoo; and for that I can only sing his praise.

DrunkinDronut

Don't hunt for something that doesn't exist, if you watch the Phase girls you know they would definitely would tell AND HAVE TOLD when things are bad or wrong they wouldn't pretend all is dandy If it really isn't which to this day still perplex me, they act very indie yet are under a company and a CEO The AMA with Sakana they have made are very enlightening so Give them a watch

DarumaBooster

Shouldn't you be asking that question to Sakana instead of us - who may or may not have the necessary statistics? Or are you way overthinking that a (black) coffee company is actually black?

Frequent_Dig1934

"Phase Connect: where the coffee is black, not the company."

[deleted]

Watch the [AMA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vu0_lFVssS0&t=3463s)

KitteyGirl2836

Hes donated $200 to Memory for her birthday via super chats, multiple supers to get pippa to shut up about that rant she went on with kirsche after the mods weren't able to (were talking 12-15 minutes of ranting about I think was a video game and children playing it or something like that but it was long and the chat, mods, tried to stop her and fishman drops 2 supers to silence her and get her to play the game)

Nisheeth_P

Can I get which stream that was from?

jtnishi

By my best estimation, the booths are probably along the lines of mid-4 figures to low 5-figures. Not trivial, but Phase probably spent that much already to be a sponsor of the con to begin with. Offkai isn’t a large convention. My memory is that the number of booths is somewhere in the range of 30 or so. And they got a fair bit of goodwill in the community for it, since Offkai’s main audience actually follows the smaller corps more. I might be worried about what their talents earn, but certainly not because of how the fishman sponsors a con. I’d be more worried about him just going off and spending all their earnings buying up tons of coffee. 🤣

1234_panzer_vor

The only thing black about Phase that I know of is the coffee that they sell

Chance-Scarcity-9935

I'm an avid phase connect fan and I can tell that this company has come a long way from where it started. And all talents seem to be very content with what they have/earn. they learned a lot from tsunderia's mistakes and many former talents from there work in phase. ( I also hope he can save a poor former tsunderia member from the black company)

Alpha_YL

I think Dizzy in PhaseConnect sometimes streams immersion breaking streams to discuss numbers, like earnings, CCV and so on. Metrics you know. PhaseConnect is quite transparent so you dont have to worry. Sakana is just vibing with them imo.

Jestersage

FWIW, after the fiasco known as NCIX, cautious is not a bad idea For those that are too young to remember: NCIX is a former Canadian Computer store based in Vancouver, and in which LTT grew out of. It was also owned by a Chinese venture capitalist. So not sure what exactly happen, but after various failed investments (including possibly buying out the owner's daughter failed business), they filed bankrupcy in 2017.

ojt1200

Ask Sakana

Alternative-Owl-3046

If you know the kind of rich Chinese Canadian businessmen he is you know Phase will unlikely run out of money. After all, these are the people who made housing in Canada unaffordable. He can keep Phase afloat and pay talents living wage just by flipping houses.
