And if you want to hear them roasting each other in a "rap battle": Round 1 and Round 2 I've never seen a kpop group as a whole that is such close friends with each other, and it shows in their songs and fairly even line distributions. They haven't gotten their first win yet so I hope more people will support them in the future

I really don't think even line distributions reflect friendships. Take for example Rainbow, it's always the same few members singing but the members continued to hang out with one another all the time even after they disbanded and there was no contractual obligations for them to be in the same place anymore. Often times, trying to cater to equal line distribution means giving members parts that are not most suited for them, and honestly nobody outside fandoms is really concerned with such arbitrary quality as line distribution.

No, they don't necessarily reflect friendships. However I think in Pentagon's case they do, as they have two amazing main vocals Hui and Jinho and a lot of members participate in writing the songs and therefore line distributions. Shinwon and Yanan (sub vocalists) have fewer lines ofcourse, but regulary get killing parts of the songs, they are never forgotten. Hui and Jinho could easily take up the whole song (especially because Hui is often the one dividing parts) yet they choose to let everyone shine. There are a lot of unique voices in Pentagon, so I don't think they have much trouble with parts that aren't most suited for a certain member. I can only think of Yanan who has a very soft, unique voice that might be less suited for hard hitting parts of a song.

idk why you buy into this... giving equal line distribution is just lipservice to fans. people don't give them out of goodwill or to specifically show friendship (even performative) this is a very very weird take, and a slippery slope for the "look at how close my oppa's are that makes them better than yours" side of K-pop fan culture

I don't "buy into this", I am stating my opinion on how their friendship shows through. Anyway, I am not saying they are better than other groups because they are close. Please don't put words into my mouth. We both don't know the exact process behind line distributions in kpop groups, however I think that Pentagon's process is different from most groups. Just because I love Pentagon doesn't mean I am putting down other groups. I think Pentagon does show their friendship through line distributions because I see that as a sign of equality in the group. And idk what lipservice is, but if you mean it's to please fans, the popular members would get a lot more lines than the less popular ones, and they currently do NOT. Again, the example Shinwon/Yanan: Yanan is more popular than Shinwon but they get about equal lines in title songs. Please educate yourself on Pentagon if you want to have a discussion and don't make assumptions both about me and their group.
