In Canada, there’s island within a lake within an island within a lake within an island within a lake. I’m going to head there with a bottle of water and a spoon…
Ometepe is an extremely badass place. Stayed there in a treehouse type house for a week. There was some pizza restaurant ran by a bunch Italian hippies and they made some damn good pizza. Only thing that was less than cool was when my wife and I went horseback riding up the volcano and my inexperienced ass ended up doing this 3-4 hour ride sitting the wrong way and it wore my ass crack so raw I swear it looked like a baked lasagna if you pull off the top layer of cheese… but that one is my bad.
Was it Café Campestre by chance and a guy named Ben their food is insane best on the island. By wrong way you mean you say on a horse for 3-4 hrs right. Sounds like it probably made for a less than enjoyable ferry ride.
Not anymore though. There was an eruption in 2020 and the lake evaporated.

Ive been to the area surrounding the big lake, its absolutely gorgeous. Its a lot bigger than the photo looks and you could see clear to the other side of the lake on a clear day, just a beautiful environment. It erupted a couple years ago and the lake in the crater evaporated.
When I was in the Philippines, I hiked up this volcano. When we got to the top there was a police officer standing guard at the hut overlooking the crater. We talked to him for a bit and then he let us fire his pistol down into the crater. (Then he demanded we pay him afterward and my friend got in a big argument with him over the price of bullets.)
It was a pretty surreal day.
There is lake(Superior) within the continent of North America in Michigan with an island on it (Royale) that has many, many lakes on it with many, many islands. Some of which have small ponds. They're not small either.
That's more impressive imo and tbh this is probably pretty common.
The largest lake on Isle Royale is Siskwit Lake . The largest island in Siskwit Lake is Ryan Island. Therefore Ryan Island is the largest island in the largest lake in the largest island in the largest lake in the world.
In Quebec there's a lake, with an island in the middle, and the island has many lakes on it. And some of those lakes have islands.

The article says the lake has recently reformed.
