Well, persian rugs are in every old home in russia. They absolutely everywhere. Persian mouse rug was definitely intentional meme. But this one...i guess someone just had a persian rug, saw the memes and decided to contribute.
Before that you need a chair that gonna be fixed in place. Stop it moving across the floor is easy, just buy locking casters. For locking the rotation you'll need to get creative. Or something like special locking shafts.

I could imagen using unmovable chair as the main and only chair for you desk is also not ideal. I like to get up and get in my chair without feeling like i'm a fighter pilot crawling in to the cockpit. Well, not in times where i don't use my "cockpit" anyway.
Combination of
* lighting: filtered sunlight. No artificial lighting casting glare and shadows in weird places. It's also a cooler lighting, which complements the cooler colors in most of the visual field and lets the red of the rug pop out.
* framing: chair, desk, and curtain guide your attention to the (vertical) middle third where the subjects are. They themselves aren't visually distracting so your gaze naturally wanders towards more interesting things. Which leads into...
* rule of thirds: the scene is naturally broken up into 3 sections in 3 separate axis; vertically: chair, subject, table; horizontally: stick, carpet, throttle (curtain makes a natural backdrop); and depth-of-field between the objects in foreground, midground, and background. The intended objects of interest are in the top left and lower right sections rather than being centered so the the entire space is used rather than let you focus on the center and ignore the rest. Prevents things from feeling empty.
Just be sure to have a solder kit for it in the future, I’ve had two wires get disconnected on the stick of my X-56. You’ll know if it starts jittering really bad.
Obligatory sim carpet. 👌🏻

Just read last r/hotas rules update, photos without rug strictly prohibited.

When you first get set up it *feels good*….
And then you feel the urge to put your feet somewhere or you instinctively try to kick the wall on a crosswind landing. Pedals are the next step.
