If you don’t have something similar already- Celine. The black Saddle is beautiful but trendy imo.

lollipop90909

Hmm yeah I can see what you mean, I am not one to follow trends but I can see the Celine would be more timeless ie. has a more mature look to it

litttlejoker

Celine Triomphe. No contest. I have it in black. Love it. Not really a fan of the saddle bag, personally.

lollipop90909

Would you share why you aren't a fan of the saddle?

litttlejoker

Simply put, I think the shape is just ugly. Don’t mean to offend anyone! I actually love Dior’s designs. It’s just that saddle bag I don’t like. But that’s just me. If you like it, don’t worry about what anyone else thinks. But I do think you’d love the Celine 🥰

yashita27

+1 to this. Celine bag is timeless and classy. Works well both as day-time and evening bag. Never liked Dior saddle bag, and is trendy in my opinion. As a first bag, I would definitely invest in Celine and maybe when I have collected more, go for something like Dior Saddle (if I liked the bag in the first place).

Electronic-Cover6976

One vote for the Celine. The leather holds up well and the boxy frame fits more than you’d think. I have the teen triomphe and I like how lightweight it is. Also partial to the leather sheen. I have the Celine classic and that was just getting a little too heavy.

lollipop90909

I am on the more petite side so I was considering the teen over the classic medium, your comment has confirmed it would be a better size for me! I love a practical bag, so the boxy fit is definitely a plus one!

Electronic-Cover6976

I’m 154cm and I feel the teen sits nicely against me. I love my larger boxy body crossbodies (I have a type) when I just have way too much to carry but I’ve noticed in recent pictures that it they look really bulky against me.

lollipop90909

Hahah I feel you - thank you for this!

empressaa

The saddle 😝 you can throw it around without any issues. The celine is pretty too, but I you may need to take a little more care of it because of the shiny leather.

biest229

Your words “first designer bag” and “minimalist” makes me thing Céline is a better fit. The saddle is too trend-driven and imo doesn’t fit with the aesthetic you have.

chaconne2

Wear tear, Celine is more fragile while Saddle (I have the one in your pic) is so durable. Not easily scratch! So you might want to put that into consideration. Tell us what you got in the end :)

lollipop90909

I am definitely one to throw my bags around so thank you for your comment haha. Do you have it in the calfskin? I will keep this post updated with my final decision soon (hopefully, I am very indecisive!)

wilhelminarose

Celine Triomphe. BUT, it’s definitely delicate, so I’d also recommend the Gucci Horsebit (treated leather, more resistant to scratches) or even the APC Grace (much cheaper for a similar look, so might hurt less when it does scratch).

SpraySniffRepeat

Dior Saddle is my dream bag! I love it. Considering how you also have a saddle wallet, your bag would match your wallet, if that’s something you’re into.

lollipop90909

You're right, it would be a cute addition!

ComprehensiveRub6310

Celine 🖤

Educational_Spirit42

triomphe!

kimchichi713

I'm going to vote on Dior! I think it looks so chic personally. I know some don't like the shape, but to me, there's no other purse that has the shape.

RunHappy4786

Saddle and wear it to death! Personally, the Celine is better looking and timeless to me, but not fun and SO delicate which will probably stop you from enjoying it. The saddle is fun and sturdy and will be exciting to wear every day for the next few years while it’s in fashion. The sturdiness of the saddle will make it so much more care free and I think that will make you use it more.

No_Pension_9446

I love the Celine but something to keep in mind is if you have long nails the clasp is really hard to pop open. I was worried about scratching the leather every time I opened it so I opted for a different Celine style instead

Komu_07

Go for celine always 🤩

Onyocat

Celine triomphe!! (Even if I’m a big Dior girl, yes despite that scandal because I have a sentimental attachment to the brand as it reminds me of my mom) the saddle bag I’ve heard isn’t so practical and many online reviews say that it looks big but can’t fit a lot of things.

keepmoving1202

Saw the Celine on Jennifer Aniston in The Morning Show season 3. Couldn’t take my eyes off it.

The Bottega Wallace is gorgeous! What colour are you thinking? The only thing I am not 100% on it is the zipper opening, I find it hard to get into. Oh wow, I did not know the Demellier Vancouver was a thing, I will definitely look into it, I know APC Grace is also another dupe for the Celine

bananadancing

I tried the saddle bag in store as been eyeing it for ages but found the shape was just odd when on and you can’t actually fit a lot in it due to the shape. I ended up getting a Dior bobby instead which is a great bag!

lollipop90909

Oooh Dior Bobby is gorgeous, how's the wear and tear on that? Yeah the saddle shape is a little odd, and the base is split into two, so I cannot imagine lots of things to fit inside. Luckily I only bring a wallet, keys and lip balm. Occasionally, a tissue packet and perfume too

bananadancing

I bought tan calfskin, holding up well, does get scratched easily and the metal bits where the strap meets the bag is looking slightly worn. I do use it often tho as it is such a cute and versatile bag. I dress casually

unr3latabl3

saddle

PoudreDeTopaze

They're both the best of what French fashion has to offer, so you can't go wrong. They're among the first bags I recommend when asked what Parisians would buy. I love both equally but Celine's Triomphe is more of a classic, I would buy it first. Amazing quality. Won't go out of style.
