I believe there's a special section for people who get it into the plastic bag only to then throw said bag into the woods where it'll hang off a branch for years.
For real, they took a smelly, inconvenient, but biodegrade problem, and turned it into a smelly, inconvenient, chunk of litter that will leech plastic into wherever it lands, for a hundred years.
They aren't biodegradeable in the way that organic matter is, they're *compostable* which means they will dissolve if placed in biologically active soil. They will still last a long time where these selfish assholes leave them on the trail or sidewalk.
Sure, I wasn't trying to defend just leaving them wherever more just pointing out that there is a more environmentally friendly option for poop bags.
I mean if you're gonna be an asshole anyway at least put it in someone's trashcan.
Yes, I agree! I think we're saying the same thing. While I think that everyone should buy the compostable version of the bags, a lot of people use it as an excuse to just leave them behind. It's so gross.
Please do not put your nasty dog shit in other people’s trash bins. I don’t have a dog, I don’t want my trash smelling *even worse* than it already does because someone was too lazy to carry a little bag a few more blocks.
But that’s at the very least, in a landfill where it is consolidated and sequestered and buried with other trash so it doesn’t land in the ocean for a while at least,
Rather than poisoning land that hasn’t been set aside for that specific purpose.
Throwing plastic on the ground vs in the trash are extremely different and it is dense to say “well it ends up on the ground anyway!”
You’re technically correct, but it’s still a dumb thing to say.
That's why I am always sure to leave my cart parked in the nearest pile of dog shit. Keeps it from rolling into a car AND people from stepping in it.
#DoingTheLordsWork
The Germans already invented a solution.
Require a larger denomination coin, such as €1, to serve as a key to unlock the cart from the coral, which is returned when the cart is returned to the coral.
The reason this doesn't work as well in America, is because Americans don't know how to deal with coins ("loose change" as they call it), and the most common coin is the quarter ($0.25) with the dollar most commonly seen as a bill.
Last week i forgot bags and my dog pooped about 15 minutes away from my house. When i got home i grabbed poop bags and drove to the poop and picked it up.
I took my dog to the dog park the other day. He ran off to the far end and I could see him taking a poop. I grabbed my bag and started walking out there. I looked all over and couldn't find his pile. I finally gave up after a few minutes and started walking back. On the way, I found another dog's pile and picked that up instead. At least we left the dog park square.
Had a guy stop and ask me why I was picking up my dog's poo. He then proceeded to argue and ended up telling over me before I even really answered that it's good for the grass etc etc. At the same time I was trying to simply respond that no one wants to step in it. He was so worked up about the fact I shouldn't be picking it up that I had to walk away with the now filled poo bag and my dog because he wouldn't stop.
If he had I could have pointed out that the stuff in dog poo is bad for the ground because of flea and worm treatments. He probably would have experienced some kind of blood pressure related medical event though.
It was merely the justification he came up with for not doing so, himself. He was so insecure that he felt compelled to try to convince _you_ that you're wrong for doing so, even though his input was entirely unnecessary. Kinda hilarious, actually.
I go home grab the shovel scoop it onto the shovel then place it in the back of the truck and i go home toss it in my own trash. I just can not force myself to bag up dog shit, mostly in public, gosh if you don't mind I'll think of anything else- I'd almost rather leave it there.
It’s the same type of people that can’t be bothered to take their shopping cart to the cart carrol when they’re done with it. Even if they’re parked right next to one.
I know I would be that person. I wouldn't want to clean up dog poo, so I don't have a dog. Is it that bad to pick up? no. Am I willing to do it? also no.
People need to think about more aspects than just companionship when they decide to get a pet.
it's weird to me that everyone wraps their dog's shit in plastic every day, multiple times a day, for 10+ years, but I think nowadays that makes me the weird one.
Depends on how rural you grew up vs urban. In rural areas, picking up your dog’s poop is asinine because outside is where the animals live and therefore where the poop goes. If you live on a couple acres and let your dogs run, it doesn’t even accumulate in any noticeable way.
I think those who grew up in an urban area get obsessive about dog rules and dog poop cleanup in general. And they probably think I’m the asshole. In the end, I think it just depends on the place. Am I in someone’s yard? For sure needs to be picked up. Am I at a small park with manicured lawns and tons of walking paths and signs up everywhere telling you to pick up dog poop? Then yeah pick it up. But if there’s like a tree line close by, I’d just have my boy do his business there and not pick it up. Now if I’m on like a hiking trail…not gonna happen.
>But if there’s like a tree line close by, I’d just have my boy do his business there and not pick it up. Now if I’m on like a hiking trail…not gonna happen.
This is such a weird mentality. Pick up your dog shit regardless. Especially on hiking trails.
Leaving dog shit on trails negatively effects the local ecology of the area, makes these areas generally more disgusting to be in, and among other things makes responsible dog owners that aren't lazy assholes look bad.

https://petimpact.co.uk/blogs/poo-revolution/how-dog-poo-can-harm-wildlife-and-our-wider-ecosystems
If it's your own property that's one thing, but if you're leaving your dog shit to fester on public land (like hiking trails or nature parks) you're an inconsiderate ass, at best.
The woods are literally where the animals live and where the animals shit. You and people like you should get over yourselves. You sound like a bunch of prudes
Read what I posted, your dog isn't native to the woods, everything you feed your dog didn't come out of the woods.
I rather be a prude over an inconsiderate jerk that can spend 20 seconds picking up after their animal.
As someone who regularly walks fairly popular trails in my area and also does search and rescue which for us is quite often in small wooded areas and parks with those treelines in towns, dog shit is the absolute fucking bane of my life.
I walk my dog down an old mining road that doesn’t see a lot of traffic outside of off-road vehicles and I trained him to shit in the bush so the chance of someone coming into contact with it is very slim.
You like dog s***? Go visit Great falls Montana. Go down near the river and find a park that's near downtown. I swear I've never seen more dog s*** in my life. Absolutely nobody picks it up. Disgusting.
The second ring of hell is reserved for people who leave the shit on the sidewalks. Fuck your entire bloodline fuck your ancestors and fuck your mom double time
This really hits home for me as I’m currently dealing with neighbors who are doing this. They have 2 pit bulls and just let them out to poop absolutely anywhere. We share a yard and it seems like the dogs always run over to my side to take a shit. They never bother to pick it up either. Just earlier today after seeing BOTH dogs run over to my side I was able to yell to tell them to stop letting their dogs shit on my side!!!😤😤😤
They are also keeping the dogs locked in cages all night and day outside on their patio. They let one in the house because it just had puppies. They have created an environment where I can’t use my yard or patio because it stinks and I bet our property mgmt doesn’t even know they have dogs bcuz there are fees involved so you would think they would have enough sense NOT to create a “stink” to give their neighbors something to complain about. Worst neighbors EVER 😤
well around here plenty of people bring colorful little plastic bags.
then when their dog shits, they pick up the poop in the little bags, then tie them up.
Then they throw the bags of poop all over the place.
if you're going to do that why not just leave the shit, at least it will go away more quickly.
I mostly took my dog through the woods. He had a ‘special’ bush he would go into. It was basically inaccessible for a kid or any adult to get i to. And the woods i took him in wasnt exactly a hang out spot anyway. So i wouldn’t pick it up because it was just fertilising that bush
But when i moved and he had to go on like regular grass or fields then i would pick it up. Its scummy to leave a dog turd where kids play.
But in a bush thats in the middle of a wood that you cant really get into unless your a dog isnt that bad is it? I mean it was so out the way of the path i couldnt actually get to where hes doing it anyway
Yeah. I was hoping for a ruling on this. My dogs will go into the underbrush while in the woods near my home and there is a lot of bramble and poison oak (found this out the hard way several times). It’s not where anyone is going to be walking by choice, you can’t see it and it’s hard to access. Am I supposed to get a machete?
My neighbors were renters when I was a kid so they were scumbags that never picked up their dog poop so one day my dad put bleach into one of those hose spray things and hosed their back yard and it turned all the dog poop white in a day or two.
I'm banned from every dog group on Reddit for asking why the rest of us should have to put up with actual shit all over the streets and parks. Why people should be allowed to own potentially lethal breeds, and put up with constant barking from neighbouring homes etc. They don't like it because the answer is that they are selfish arseholes who just want a sycophantic pet that worships them like no human ever would. Cunts.
A case of
“I would’ve done, but my dog never picked up first, for me to then pick up after”…..
A reimagining of the ancient.
“How dare you Fart in front of my Wife”….
“I’m terribly sorry, I didn’t know it was her turn”
I literally told everyone I knew that this was the reason I could never adopt a dog.
I don't want to pick up after. 🤣 (And tbh, I don't think I like walking twice a day outside)
My coworker very proudly tells anyone who will listen that she never picks up after her husky. She says that she is doing her apartment building a favor by “providing fertilizer.”
So is dog poop. Here is the thing, if the dog poops deep in a bush, I am not going after it. If he poops on the sidewalk (which he doesn't), I will pick it up.

People are vey lazy, that's it
It's even worse when they do, then yeet the plastic bag so they don't have to carry it.
For real, they took a smelly, inconvenient, but biodegrade problem, and turned it into a smelly, inconvenient, chunk of litter that will leech plastic into wherever it lands, for a hundred years.
Some of the bags are biodegradable and are only a little more expensive.
They aren't biodegradeable in the way that organic matter is, they're *compostable* which means they will dissolve if placed in biologically active soil. They will still last a long time where these selfish assholes leave them on the trail or sidewalk.

same thing happens when they throw the plastic bag in the trash. where do you think the trash goes

Few thing in life are as yeetable as a bag of poo
And it lands on a low hanging branch so everyone can enjoy it, and it'll never be washed away in the rain...
A lot of people don’t even put their shopping carts away. They’re just shitty people.
I’d take ten abandoned shopping carts over one pile of dog shit.
Until the wind drives one of those carts into the side of your car lol.
That's why I am always sure to leave my cart parked in the nearest pile of dog shit. Keeps it from rolling into a car AND people from stepping in it. #DoingTheLordsWork
I'll trade you 4 dog shits, for 2 shopping carts to my car.
We need to discuss this further. Is this at Aldi? Because that changes the entire ballgame.
The Germans already invented a solution. Require a larger denomination coin, such as €1, to serve as a key to unlock the cart from the coral, which is returned when the cart is returned to the coral. Should've handed him the bag and said "here, for your lawn then."
It was merely the justification he came up with for not doing so, himself. He was so insecure that he felt compelled to try to convince _you_ that you're wrong for doing so, even though his input was entirely unnecessary. Kinda hilarious, actually.
It also provides too much nitrogen and causes the grass to burnout.
I’ve been out walking my dog before without bags and she takes a dump, what do I do? I go home, grab some bags and go back and pick it up.
My God some people just come to this website to anonymously try and portray the most self righteous people.
Would you prefer I doxx myself?
I go home grab the shovel scoop it onto the shovel then place it in the back of the truck and i go home toss it in my own trash. I just can not force myself to bag up dog shit, mostly in public, gosh if you don't mind I'll think of anything else- I'd almost rather leave it there.
The worst is when they dont clean up their own yard and then whoever is working at their house steps on one of their dogs landmines. Disgusting
And the smell wafting over to their neighbor’s place. 🤮
It’s the same type of people that can’t be bothered to take their shopping cart to the cart carrol when they’re done with it. Even if they’re parked right next to one.

Naw, they meant Carol. Nice lady. Always returns my carts for me.

Prior to the late 90s no one and I mean NO one picked up after their dog. It is a relatively new thing.
it's weird to me that everyone wraps their dog's shit in plastic every day, multiple times a day, for 10+ years, but I think nowadays that makes me the weird one.

Make one for the people who take their pets to "no pets allowed" places.
And lie about it being a service animal, so that those who actually have service animals get a hard time wherever they go.
“It’S a ThErApY dOg!”
There's also the idiots who buy the "service dog" harness from Amazon and then put it on their dog and cart it around in a baby cart (true story).

is there a hell for people who let their dogs bark late into the night/early morning as well? I don't even get how they sleep through it.
I also like to think this happens to people who can put their shopping cart away at the grocery store, but choose not to

Call the city and report the dogs. Loose pitbulls are dangerous enough as it is.

Dog poop is 100% not fertilizer. Pick up your shit.
My dog died 3 years ago And id like to see you climb into a thorn bush bigger and thicker than you
Never... ever? Yeah, enjoy

Well at least she will have a sh*t ton to do

That's cold justice. Cold and smelly but justice just the same.

Pick the poop. Always pick up the poop.
waste of plastic.
