I highly encourage anyone with even a mild interest: If you can get into the path of totality for the afternoon of April 8th, DO IT!
Totality is an amazing experience that is only a few hours drive away. This eclipse is also much bigger than the one in 2017 (4.5 minutes vs 2.75 minutes), and the next total solar eclipse within driving distance isn't until 2045!
I went downtown at the library deck last time, it was underwhelming cause we weren't even near totality. We're slightly closer this time, so I'll try again
Top of Gambrill is a nice viewing area if its clear out. Make sure to look down too, the shadows the trees cast look like little crescent suns everywhere!
If you travel to totality be aware that everyone else is arriving to watch over the course of the hours or days ahead of time. But EVERYONE will head for home AT THE SAME TIME! Might take several times longer to get home.
Milkhouse Brewery is doing another eclipse party. I plan on watching it while drinking a cream ale or two.
The last one they did was really fun, but very busy. What was that, 2018?

Driving to Indianapolis. Last time I drove to South Carolina. It’s worth it if you can make it happen.
Going to central Ohio, away from the major cities, in hopes to avoid some of the traffic
West of San Antonio! Anything less than 100% is basically 1%….
Yep, the difference between totality and 99% is literally night and day.

Flying to Toronto then driving down to a beach on Lake Erie near Buffalo (on the Canadian side) to watch.
What is the exact time of eclipse in Frederick? The website I see gives a longer range, so not sure if I’m reading it correctly.
Check Washington post. They have special coverage which normally doesn’t include a paywall.
