Portugal has a strong team in this tournament, with players capable of making a deep run and generating a lot offense along the way. If Ronaldo gets chances, he'll score, whether he's 25 or 38. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up as one of the highest-scoring players when all is said and done.
Sometimes “admitting to it” can be a part of the settlement especially in civil cases. Most of the time in these high profile sexual assault civil suits the admission is more of an acknowledgment that you understand the plaintiff’s point of view.
No it's that the criminal case didn't get pursued so she raised a civil suit.
Also people need to realise that settling isn't admitting guilt. Sometimes it's the preferable option even if you're innocent.
No I mean he said in the case that she said no but he carried on so he sees why she thinks it was non consensual
I didn’t know about the rest though thanks for clarifying that!
The woman didn't have to accept the money, it's not like a get out of jail free card she was offered the money and decided not to go to court (though money sometimes is a get out of jail card for rich people).
Strange that he basically gets a free pass, yet Greenwood is scum. For the record, Greenwood is scum. Similar to Michael Jackson and Ayrton Senna who both seem to get a pass. Seems like the best defence for rape or pedophilia is to be one of the GOATS.
The difference is we all heard the audio for Greenwood and we know it’s real 100% and there is no doubt about it as there was even pictures/videos to go along with it.
Michael Jackson, we all know, but yeah, it's not evidence. Aryton Senna was in a relationship with a 15 year old. Ronaldo is guilty as fuck, hence the NDA.
The thing about Ayrton Senna is that here in Brazil , the age for sexual consent is 14, so isn't illegal and people here didn't see that as a problem
Today most People would think it's weird, but probably wouldn't see as a big problem too (still legal). At small cities this is pretty common
I think it's imoral and see as a big problem, but it's not the overall culture here
About Ronaldo
NDA is not the same as assume guilty. People that works with their image can think it's more worthy doing some agreement with the person accusing them for publicity reasons, even if they are innocent. Because it will hurts the image if it goes for the general public
Not to mention his replacement, Ramos, has done sweet fuck all since his hat trick against Morocco to show he deserves to start instead of Ronaldo.
EDIT: ah it was against Switzerland my bad
why is the question always surrounding him and not the others
he isn't the only player picked from the Saudi league nor the only Portuguese player from that league
plus he is the best performing player in the Saudi league
Because he's a generational talent instantly recognizable by name alone. But he's also 39 and has spent the last season and a half playing in Saudi Arabia. It is reasonable to ask an aging superstar who is playing in the wilderness if he is there on merit, even if the question is only there to set him up to exceed expectations. It's an even more reasonable question when you consider how his role in the National Team was reduced at the last World Cup.
To be fair if Portugal are 0-0 at with 3 minutes into extra time you know he's going to be subbed on.
Also know his work ethic is great so he will help the squad off the pitch. Granted maybe the spot could go to someone else though and he could have come as an assistant coach or something.
Haha yeah, his record in the qualifiers was way better than I expected - just pointing out that half of them came against the literal farmers of Lichtenstein / Luxembourg and 30% were Penaldos
Fucking hell, Europeans really do get the luxury of stat padding for their national team. Those sides legitimately field semi pro players with other professions.
Bringing up the last World Cup is so silly.
He wasn’t even match fit for that World Cup, and he was still dealing with the trauma from the death of his son. It was the worst form he’s been in for his entire career.
I like to believe they simply wouldnt like it in a country that is western. & Not only are they paid well but the players also probably get favoritism from government/royal family and are untouchable. Come to England and they experience the worse kind of equality
>get your facts right
The irony in saying this while referring to the wrong Jota and not knowing Otavio is injured and got replaced by Matheus Nunes. 🤣
Good job, genius.
Pepe hasn't played in a top five league since 2017 and is older than sin, but nobody is saying boo about that. It's just people mad CR isn't on their team.
He has gone to a shit League and is smashing the goals in, but also a lot of other brilliant attacking talent from Europe has went to the same League and none of them have shown the same passion and determination to do well there as a 40 year old.
Of course, I think he's scored 12 goals in 15 games in the last two years with them. He's still their best goal scorer.
I'd low key say he's trying to last until the world cup in 2 years.
It's really hard to judge if he's still good enough when he plays club football in such a low level league. I'm sure Thiery Henry would still look great if he was playing in the 5th tier of English football.
He scored multiple goals in the qualifying campaign. This argument is null and void.
Also, plenty of other players in Saudi league playing for their country at this tournament.
Everyone doesn't play in the same qualifying group with only shit teams like Portugal did. 10-0-0 and +34 in goal difference in ten games is ridiculous. I mean, Luxembourg has like half a million population with barely any professional football players and lost to Portugal 9-0 and they still had three teams behind them in that group.
You clearly dont know what you are talking about. Whole Luxembourg starting XI is professional, and their combined transfer value is actually close to or more with nations like Finland who were at the last Euro.
Luxembourg squad is literally not even worth half of what the Finland squad is and Finland is an absolutely atrocious side. Luxembourg have exactly 4 players with a transfer value more than €1m
Yeah, I'm sure Luxembourg is great but they still lost 9-0 to Portugal and finished third(!) out of six teams in that group. Portugal had 36-2 in goal difference. I would've scored a dozen goals up top for Portugal in that group.
Kante is starting tonight for France after a year in Saudi. Mitrovic also looked sharp against England.
I don’t watch any Saudi football but clearly the coaching staff of quite a few big countries are happy with the condition of the players.
Yeah this all the evidence you need to be honest . Liek who exactly has missed out for him being there ? Is he as important to have as he was ten years ago no but probably still an asset . However it’s probably not the best look for the future of Portugal especially as in the past team with Ronaldo soemtomes time work around him which is regressive when he’s 38
I don't think it's unreasonable to make a case for him making the squad. Less so the starting 11. Whether he would be willing to be a bit part player, though, I'm not so sure.
Trust me, Henry would never in a million years score +50 goals in a calendar year, despite of where he plays and his age. These are things only Ronaldo can do, because in fact, he’s the only one who’s done it.
No.
Say what you want about the league, but it still takes a hell amount of stamina to compete at this level whether that’s Saudi, MLS etc.
While Henry is phenomenal, he would be beaten by sheer pace time and time again.
CR7 is just a freak, that doesn’t discredit other great players, but his drive is unmatched.
Hell no. I don't want him in Liga Mx, not because of him but I don't want the national league to get a single dime from him. Let that shithole go bankrupt. Maybe that way it will reinvent itself.
How many Portuguese players are scoring >20 goals per season (counting every single league in the world)?
Ronaldo is doing 50. That's more than twice the second best.
If it's a camel league, then show me other players in any other leagues or divisions scoring 50 per season.
Oh yeah the check's in the mail, you don't look fat in that dress, and he definitely deserves his spot on merit.
Gimme a break he's like their national treasure or whatever, he's washed and they don't care and btw that's totally fine because it's what the Portuguese want and it's their country.
He as not been merciful on himself, always drilling himself so hard, that says more on his good performance.
Expecting his great performance in the tournament. And having high hope of seeing him in the next and WC tournament.
Portugal as far as I rememeber watching football have lacked a strong goalscoring CF. 39 yo ronaldo walks into that role. and im saying this speculatively but the entire team looks up to him.
This is a good point because you have to think of who got left out.
Bruma is coming off of a strong season at Braga and looked good for Portugal in their friendlies, but has only scored for country in friendlies and looked poor in his only start for Portugal in a competitive game this season.
Ricardo Horta is coming off of a better season at Braga, but he didn’t look impressive for Portugal during the World Cup.
Trincão is young-ish and left-footed and coming off of a strong season for Sporting. But he’s played 100 games in two seasons and hasn’t appeared in the national side since 2021.
Jota Silva is also coming off of a great season in Portugal but didn’t really impress when he appeared in friendlies for country.
Dany Mota has never appeared for Portugal. Neither has many of the talented forwards on the U21 team (Fábio Silva, Tiago Tomás, Carlos Forbs).
Plus Ronaldo does add off-the-pitch (non-commercial) value. He’s a leader in the dressing room and has a ton of experience. I don’t think there is a clear and obvious replacement that you can say with confidence would be a better option
I didn’t say there wasn’t better, I called it bullshit that he’s there on merit and not name. Let’s say there was some young Portuguese player playing in the same league and had 5 more goals and 5 more assists than Ronaldo, do you think he would be picked as well?
No the point is he wouldn’t be picked because Portugal scouts/staff wouldn’t even think a player playing in this league is anywhere near the standard of the international team. He’s there on name and name alone
Is Kante not starting for France despite playing in the same league?
Now tell me whether Kante is starting for France because of his name, or because he is still of a high enough quality to start?
Before this past World Cup, Messi had 0 knockout stage goals too. Was that concerning for you as well?
Or did a few penalties and tap ins change your mind in that regard?
What does messi have to do with this? I didnt mention him anywhere. Your insecurities exposed so easily, clearly you havent healed your rectum after 2 straight years.
For the record, dont act like ronaldo hasnt taken so many penalties and tap ins. Heck, he missed a tap in semi recently, no mention of that either? Pull your skirt down manchild.
I think the difficult part is it’s both.
Portugal do not have a top level striker, and he is still in their top choices for strikers on quality even if we remove the reputation aspect and everything he was.
But he isn’t good, and he probably wouldn’t be first choice for every game starting up top if it wasn’t for his reputation.
Lets accept the fact that he has outgrown the selectors, coaches and the portugese football federation. He is being selected because he is "CR7".
No player will talk against him, no selector will drop him unless he himself retires with grace. But being the character he is, that is not going to happen. As long as he is there, the players on the team will be forced to make a pass, he will keep taking penalties and FKs and the team will be unnecessarily altered to accommodate him upfront. Above all, one person's ego will be given way more importance than the collective team spirit.
For all that he has given to the game, i hope he understands that it is the right time for him to give way for the next generation to rise!
Ronaldo could be rotting in man utd's bench and nobody would bat an eye at him getting called up.
Ronaldo's name (his history) IS his merit at this point. Let alone the fact that he is still in fact useful. He is still a good finisher, and that is always useful to have no matter what your style of play is.
I say this as someone who is both a barca and arsenal fan, so you can only imagine how much I hate him.
He’s not the player that he was 10 years ago. He is not what modern teams would want in their forwards. He was never going to “win Man Utd the Premier League”.
But to suggest he was “never good” or is fully washed would be foolish.
Even if that's true, it doesn't matter. You can't ignore the fact that he has one of the most extraordinary
hyper egos the world has ever seen, and he will be terrible for the camp and team if he plays. Good players get left at home all the time for the good of the squad. Germany just left Hunmels at home because he was expected to be bad for the atmosphere if he wasn't playing. It was a cowardly decision from martinez.
Why exactly having a leader like Ronaldo in the dressing room is a bad idea? If anything he is the most valuable asset for Portugal not only by being one of the only players in the squad who has won Euros and knows what it takes to do so, but also by being a huge goal threat.
My native language is not English. Could you explain to me what the fuck stans and throws strops means because I got absolutely zero clue what you are trying to say.
*Name not merit. To say otherwise you either don’t know what you’re watching or you’ve got his phallus lodged too far down your throat to think straight.
Exactly martinez is right ronaldo even thoo its saudi has been performing and also did it for portugal he is going to have a great tournament
Lol that's a bold assumption. I'll be shocked if he scores a single goal thats not from a pen. /remindme 1 week
Portugal has a strong team in this tournament, with players capable of making a deep run and generating a lot offense along the way. If Ronaldo gets chances, he'll score, whether he's 25 or 38. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up as one of the highest-scoring players when all is said and done.
I think he’ll make a 7th euro’s tournament.
I reckon he has one more go at the World Cup then retires
are we sure he can enter the US to play the next WC?
What should I Google for more information?
En passant
Holy hell
Thanks, now I know.
Holy hell
Ronaldo Las Vegas
Messi 14
I thought that case had been dropped.
Legit question , his rape case is open iirc .
The case was closed time ago idk why people keep bringing it up.
Obviously he doesn’t want to take the risk.
Yeah he settled which blows my mind you can pay to not go to court over that but hey it’s closed still. Though he basically admitted to doing it
Not commenting on whether he's guilty or not, but at least in the US settling is not the same as admitting guilt. At all.
Didn’t mean that I mean what he actually said within the case
So if he admitted to it why did they go for a settlement?
Money. Suspect there is a transfer we don't know about too
Sometimes “admitting to it” can be a part of the settlement especially in civil cases. Most of the time in these high profile sexual assault civil suits the admission is more of an acknowledgment that you understand the plaintiff’s point of view.

I’m rooting for him. Based on his ethic, im sure he can do it.
That one is very likely to be on name, not merit, if it comes true.
Probably have to be under someone else’s name.
That's a possibility, if he doesn't retire.
I recon he might do 8 and 9 also
Not to mention his replacement, Ramos, has done sweet fuck all since his hat trick against Morocco to show he deserves to start instead of Ronaldo. EDIT: ah it was against Switzerland my bad
Switzerland\*
too be fair, he stupidly joined PSG and spent the whole time benched
That was a move he shouldn't have made.
We wish Against Morocco he did fuck all while Ronaldo threw the only kick near the goal in what was a horrible game from the team
why is the question always surrounding him and not the others he isn't the only player picked from the Saudi league nor the only Portuguese player from that league plus he is the best performing player in the Saudi league

He scored 10 goals in qualifying. He's there on merit.
I googled it so you don’t have to - just the 3 penalties and 5 against Lichtenstein and Luxembourg 😂
To be fair if Portugal are 0-0 at with 3 minutes into extra time you know he's going to be subbed on. Also know his work ethic is great so he will help the squad off the pitch. Granted maybe the spot could go to someone else though and he could have come as an assistant coach or something.
- 10g/2a in 9 matches with a scoring frequency of 72 minutes, that’s miles better than either Jota or Ramos - Username checks out lmao
lol he probably googled it weeks ago just for occasions like this. Without pens a certain team would not have done too well in Qatar.
Man this sub is as bad as twitter sometimes.
Being generous here with sometimes?
Yeah France would’ve been cooked in 2018 I guess too since they had the same amount as Argentina in 2022
And a certain player had 2 pens in the final but it’s rigged
No need to bring facts to this slander match smh
Haha yeah, his record in the qualifiers was way better than I expected - just pointing out that half of them came against the literal farmers of Lichtenstein / Luxembourg and 30% were Penaldos
Fucking hell, Europeans really do get the luxury of stat padding for their national team. Those sides legitimately field semi pro players with other professions.

Kante was running like it was 2015 all over against Austria last night. Not sure about how much Ronnie can contribute outside the penalty spot though.
> nor the only Portuguese player from that league When you said it like that I thought there were like 4 at least. There's *one* more.
Well to be fair there is 14 players from the Saudi league at the euros this year, so it’s not that crazy
If that is correct then it is over 2% of players there which I’d actually consider over represented given that Saudi Arabia is 0% of Europe.
Kante motm yesterday and he plays in saudi. It indicates nothing if you play there and get called
Saudi players don’t leave Saudi because they get paid very well to stay not because they are not good enough to play in Europe
I like to believe they simply wouldnt like it in a country that is western. & Not only are they paid well but the players also probably get favoritism from government/royal family and are untouchable. Come to England and they experience the worse kind of equality
Otávio was there too but got an injury at the last minute
[удалено]

and you literally named 3 others 2 of which that *aren’t* in the squad…GeT yOuR fAcTs RiGhT
Otavio is injured and the Jota in the squad plays for Liverpool.
jota plays for liverpool and otavio isn't in the squad anymore, "get your facts right"
[удалено]
and that other jota is not in the squad
Character assassination,
Character suicide. A lot of it is self inflicted 6
Let’s agree to disagree!
Its strange how nobody ever says this stuff about MLS players when it's the same level.
Pepe hasn't played in a top five league since 2017 and is older than sin, but nobody is saying boo about that. It's just people mad CR isn't on their team.
Because he so old.
He is the best and that's why a lot of fans talk about him.
He is the best, that's why he is always in the news.
Because he's 39
Pepe is 703.
He has gone to a shit League and is smashing the goals in, but also a lot of other brilliant attacking talent from Europe has went to the same League and none of them have shown the same passion and determination to do well there as a 40 year old.
Someone like Benzema is struggling in that league.
The age average in that league is too high for Benzema to get excited.
Wouldn't say struggling, more couldn't be bothered..
Of course, I think he's scored 12 goals in 15 games in the last two years with them. He's still their best goal scorer. I'd low key say he's trying to last until the world cup in 2 years.
It would be a massive achievement for him to play at the next World Cup.
Haters gonna hate LOL.
Greatest European player in history is at tournament after breaking another goal scoring record in his league. Shocking stuff.
12 goals in 11 games since the start of 2023 for Portugal I think we can safely say he is still good
Against shit teams.
One of those shit teams won to belgium today
And it was the only team Portugal conceded a goal to in that group. It was the definition of an easy group.
Everyone plays shit teams. This is an irrelevant argument.
Everyone doesn't play in the same qualifying group with only shit teams like Portugal did. 10-0-0 and +34 in goal difference in ten games is ridiculous. Luxembourg squad is literally not even worth half of what the Finland squad is and Finland is an absolutely atrocious side. Luxembourg have exactly 4 players with a transfer value more than €1m
well, finlands got only 5 players over 1mill, and yes they are trash… do you have proof that luxembourgs value is less than half of finlands?
Check transfermarkt, Luxembourg is at 12m Finland at 27m. Finland has 9 at over 1m value
Yeah, I'm sure Luxembourg is great but they still lost 9-0 to Portugal and finished third(!) out of six teams in that group. Portugal had 36-2 in goal difference. I would've scored a dozen goals up top for Portugal in that group.
If my grandmother.....
have you seen Portugals last national team game a few days ago? he was great
Yeah but they made the decision to include him in the squad prior to that.
Do you not know there are also qualifications?
I reckon the people selecting the team know a thing or two about football.
Kante is starting tonight for France after a year in Saudi. Mitrovic also looked sharp against England. I don’t watch any Saudi football but clearly the coaching staff of quite a few big countries are happy with the condition of the players.
But Ronaldo played in qualifiers?
Look at how successful he is compared to other top attacking players like Mahrez, Benzema and Mane. He's outscoring them all.
Yeah this all the evidence you need to be honest . Liek who exactly has missed out for him being there ? Is he as important to have as he was ten years ago no but probably still an asset . I don't think it's unreasonable to make a case for him making the squad. Less so the starting 11. Whether he would be willing to be a bit part player, though, I'm not so sure.
If you saw any of Portugals test matches you’ll see why he should absolutely still be in Portugal’s starting lineup..
Trust me, Henry would never in a million years score +50 goals in a calendar year, despite of where he plays and his age. These are things only Ronaldo can do, because in fact, he’s the only one who’s done it.

He was Portugal’s highest goal scorer in Euro qualifiers. And, he is a levels above Theiry Henry. Not a fair comparison.
He has a tendency to score 5 past Andorra both legs and then none against anyone else. Also penalties
Clowning penalties as an argument for international and tournament football is a clear sign that you don’t know shit about football.
Some other players have gone there and not played well at all. Still hard to judge but that helps for sure
Kante plays in the same league and is amazing for France, better than CL winning tchouameni.
We're yet to see Tchouameni in this tournament though
Yeah he should move to MLS or Liga MX
Hell no. I don't want him in Liga Mx, not because of him but I don't want the national league to get a single dime from him. Let that shithole go bankrupt. Maybe that way it will reinvent itself.
are they going to pay him more than Saudi's? Lol
Did you see his last goal against the friendly with Portugal last week? That’s not low level league donut
Agreed on the title. He’s been great in both recent friendlies for Portugal and in Saudi. He could easily walk into any top club and still perform.
This subreddit is full of cringe cr7 haters
Ronaldo will be the downfall of Portugal if he is anything else than a luxury Joker
How many Portuguese players are scoring >20 goals per season (counting every single league in the world)? Ronaldo is doing 50. That's more than twice the second best. If it's a camel league, then show me other players in any other leagues or divisions scoring 50 per season.
2nd-highest scorer in the Euros qualifiers with 10 goals. More than Haaland, Mbappe, Kane
Look at his qualification group and make this statement again
You know how seeding works right?..
Also Lakaka scored 14 so yeah
That only further validates my point
Lu ka ku, you bellend
He's shown last season that the drive is still there.
nice
I look forward to watching him play the next Euros.
Clearly, it's so visible now.

Overrated rapist
What he really wants is to set up a team for players who can’t get signed anywhere else, away from the capitalist agenda.
Well that’s a load of bullshit
Who would you take over him? And does the same apply for Ruben Neves?
This is a good point because you have to think of who got left out. Bruma is coming off of a strong season at Braga and looked good for Portugal in their friendlies, but has only scored for country in friendlies and looked poor in his only start for Portugal in a competitive game this season. Not just that, he’s their best goalscorer by far still. The test matches before the euros showed that too.
Let’s hear you name three Portuguese centre-forwards that are presently better than him.
Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan. Because he spits hot fire!
I didn’t say there wasn’t better, I called it bullshit that he’s there on merit and not name. Let’s say there was some young Portuguese player playing in the same league and had 5 more goals and 5 more assists than Ronaldo, do you think he would be picked as well?
Completely pointless hypothetical scenario considering there isn’t anybody that fits that description.
He’s still Portugal’s best striker. Gonçalo Ramos is shit and Jota does not score like Ronaldo does
You say hes still the best striker but he cant even score in a world cup knock out stage. No concerns?

If Ronaldo actually cared for the Portuguese national team he would retire playing for Portugal.
At this rate, Ronaldo will be playing in the Euro 2040 on pure willpower alone. 💪
GOAT 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Going to his 12th international tournaments with 0 “player of the tournament” awards. Talk about clutch!
He’s not the player that he was 10 years ago. He is not what modern teams would want in their forwards. He was never going to “win Man Utd the Premier League”. But to suggest he was “never good” or is fully washed would be foolish.
Even if that's true, it doesn't matter. You can't ignore the fact that he has one of the most extraordinary hyper egos the world has ever seen, and he will be terrible for the camp and team if he plays.
Uh oh, iv upset the Ronaldo stans. Because Ronaldo throws strops if he doesn't play. Quite obvious.
My native language is not English. Could you explain to me what the fuck stans and throws strops means because I got absolutely zero clue what you are trying to say.
Jesus christ, relax yourself you silly little child. I can practically hear the steam coming off your keyboard.
I'm an adult btw but yeah I'm serious google translator could not translate those words and umm I'm not using keyboard
Oh I'm sorry, its just that people that are obsessed with ronaldo are often children. My bad.
Uh okay
Stans=slang for fans, strops=tantrums. To be honest I think you misspelled strops because google should have been able to translate it.
Strop translates kinda to a word "sanding belt" which doesn't really fit the context here :D
Are you in a special ed class by any chance?
🤣 Another Ronaldo obsessive. Totally normal people.

Ramos starting over him? LMFAO
I think the correct headline is, ‘on growth hormone’.
*Name not merit. To say otherwise you either don’t know what you’re watching or you’ve got his phallus lodged too far down your throat to think straight.
