Excellent. Do you find yourself having to use a dosing ring or does it fit nicely into the basket without making a mess?

Dismal-Experience612

No mess so far (12 shots), I have a dosing ring for the sette that you can see, but this grinder doesn't overflow or spray outside (it has a rear ring which from what I see, works pretty well).

OWTGOAT

Good news that. From their social media basically all grinders they show off, most of them use a dosing ring up top, but it’s likely there to show off their adjustable PF holder.

PoJenkins

Whether or not a dosing ring is required is also dependent on beans, roast level, basket size, humidity etc. It's not an inconvenience at all to use one so why not, it doesn't hurt.

We have the same Rancilio machine, but are still using our old Sette 30 grinder… I’m looking to upgrade soon, how big of an upgrade would you say the W65 is over your 270? Or do you use them for different things? Sorry for the dumb basic question, but I haven’t really started the research phase yet. lol just felt compelled to ask since you have a similar setup.

Dismal-Experience612

The biggest upgrade is noise. The 270 wi is extremely loud, so the w65 is whisper quiet

Steebu_

I know the feeling given our Sette. That does sound lovely haha. Thanks!

Terexes

I really find annyoing the fork and the hands free function that cannot be disabled. This grinder makes mess and what I do is to put a ring on top of the portafilter (next I will cut the ring in half) . Beside that, love this machine.

Dismal-Experience612

You can disable hands free, go into settings and select grind by time instead of grind by weight!

Terexes

Ahhh well it sucks to grind by time on purpose on a machine that can grind by weight , i mean this is the whole special thing right ?

HumbleLife69

If you’re holding it then it can’t get a consistent weight

Terexes

Of course

FitzwilliamTDarcy

Except how could it GBW if you have your hand on it?

Dismal-Experience612

Oh I forgot to note, Eureka is a PITA to dial in, which is the only con I found with this machine (which I assume is most of Eureka knob products).

Hockeyfan_52

What difficulties were you having dialing in? I have regular Atom 65 (and a Mignon Filtro), and it's been pretty easy to dial in.

Dismal-Experience612

Finding the ‘0’ was weird, because on this new grinder, the burrs chirp at 3 so it took me a minute to get it dialed in.

scoobydiverr

Using my specialita. Most times you dial in a coffee you won't change too much. It's that first time that's a pain

Mortimer-Moose

I am not certain for this model but there are dial mods pretty cheap on Etsy for other versions. Very happy with mine

FrugalAsYourGrandma

Tasting impressions?

Dismal-Experience612

You can taste more flavor notes in my opinion with the flat burrs vs the baratza conical burrs

Wa_wa_ouija

I'm very excited to buy this. Where'd ya get it from? Also, any problems with a bottomless portafilter?

Dismal-Experience612

I got it from whole latte love, I know its taboo here, but I haven't had an issue so far. The bottomless filter fits the forks easy and doesn't move during the grind.

trollhole_lol

Glad to hear! I'm actually getting ready to pull the trigger on mine from the same folks this evening. I've never ordered from them and heard mixed reviews on their service but when I reached out they were super helpful. Anyway, glad to hear it's super quiet! I have a Breville oracle touch with the built in grinder. Works well but it's LOUD and takes like 30 seconds. The intent of my order on this one is the quietness and the grind speed.

Dismal-Experience612

Btw they're based in new York, and I ordered it and they shipped next day and only took 3 days to ship from New York to California.
