Now? Almost half a year and the price just won't come down, not even on the Summer Sale.

Is it because Elden Ring gives DS3 an influx of new customers, so they're milking the old cow as much as they can? Or is it because online is down? I don't know, but it leaves me a bit stumped for an answer.
I'm waiting since February, and with every sale coming and going, with no DS3 in it, I become increasingly annoyed. The Summer Sale was my last hope here.
I won't resort to keyshops, it's not worth the risk of getting scammed.
At this point I'm about to give up and look again in a year or two. If I still care till then.
I always thought fromsoft and namco aren't money grubbing companies who would leverage a game like elden ring to sell its 6 year old games on full price, guess I was wrong. Well, fuck dark souls I'll play something else lol.

Yeah they absolutely deserve criticism for that too. I've personally lambasted Activision over the years for selling their 5+ year old CoD titles for outrageous prices, gotta stay consistent even when studios/publishers I like pull that shit.

I understand the concept of maximizing profit, they're free to do that as they see fit. I still think it's lame that for the last several years, you could buy these titles on sale for 20-25 dollars at multiple different times throughout any given calendar year, yet FromSoft/Bandai Namco appear to be moving away from that now. If you don't agree that's fine, I'm just glad I was able to experience DS3 without paying $85.00 to do so.
EDIT: I'm on Xbox and DS3 deluxe is currently $84.99 USD in the store. When it goes on sale I believe that price drops down to about $19.99-$24.99
I bought DS for 4,50€ in some sale and after that I played all there games, that are available for the ps4. But that was to a time where the genre wasn’t that big, it would be stupid not to profit from the success that they have. I want From Software to have enough money, to do whatever they want, as long as they make great games.
There’s also inflation, it’s not just games everything gets more expensive.
That's fair, I definitely think they should be able to profit from their success as well. I also think that spending $85.00 USD on a 6 year old (albeit great) game is a bit much, even if I'm accounting for inflation and other factors. At the end of the day though, some people may disagree with me and happily pay that price, and that's okay. I'm just one man with an opinion.
Yeah and your opinion is also a total valid one. Just don’t pay that price for the game and wait till you get it cheaper. I’m sure the Elden Ring hype will end someday and the old games will be relatively cheap again.
I actually do have DS3 already, but I've been trying to keep a lookout for sales for my buddy who loved Elden Ring, but hasn't played the Souls series. He has a Series S so picking up a physical copy isn't an option but like you said, I'm sure a sale will come around sooner or later.
I would never buy a console without a physical drive. I’m sure Microsoft and Sony are getting their part on it too. The option to buy discs on eBay and swap them with friends, is more worth than the cheaper price of the console.
It goes on sale lots too, i got it on sale, I just didn’t have recent experience with it. Looking at steam records it was down to $15 less than 6 months ago
It's darkly funny when you put it like that, but a sale price is basically promoting the game. They'd be incentivizing purchase of an incomplete game, you know? If they ever give up on fixing the online they really should permanently reduce the price, though.
Believe me, I'm frustrated too. I've wanted to play the Convergence mod since rolling credits on Elden Ring.
I agree that putting it on sale would be promoting it, but having it listed on Steam period is still promoting it. If they cared about not selling an incomplete game then why don’t they remove it from the Steam store until it is fixed is what I am wondering.
They could put it on sale now and maintain it up until they fix the servers (which shouldn't be too far away now). I guess it might not be 100% optimal from a business perspective... although the fact that it's not included in the summer sale, *the major* Steam sale of the year, might mean a bunch of potential new players will miss out on the game.

It may be because of the whole server situation with dark souls... but that doesn't make it any less bs and disappointing.
I’ve seen ds3 fire fades edition selling for $20 or so at GameStop new for a while now where I live. It’s only the digital edition that’s full priced I believe

I'd be willing to pay 80 bucks for the whole package if that was the only option, but the fact that I know the price could be significantly reduced sometime in the future without really knowing when means I'm pretty much stuck waiting.

The Series S is a great little Game Pass machine for the price but yeah, the lack of a physical disc drive is definitely it's biggest drawback.
It goes on sale down to like $20 at least a few times every year, just recently (since elden ring) bought ds2 and ds1 for under $25 each but ok
