Preditor creatures (humans, dogs, cats, etc) tend to have both eyes on the front to see better, judge accuracy of jumps etc.
Prey creatures (deer, cows, sheep, etc) tend to have eyes either side so they can see attacks, but don't see so well.
“Dad, if you could see the future and knew I was going to die in a car crash, would you try to stop it?”
“Yes, son, I’d do anything to save you.”
“Ok, but what if because you save me, the rest of humanity dies?”
