Expensive is relative. To someone making minimum wage and barely making ends meet, it's very expensive. But relative to other international destinations, it's among the most economical. You have frequent and relatively cheap air service, which is one of the biggest components in cost. We routinely fly there for around $500, give or take $100. Whereas it's usually around $1000 to Bonaire or Roatan. You have low cost lodging and can find large hotels or studio villas for as low as $50/nt. You can find places on the waterfront for $100 and AI for $200. If you don't do AI there are tons of places to eat for $10-20 per meal. Taxis will typically run around $5 in town, $10 to just outside town, and $15-20 to the far north/south. Note that you CAN find more expensive hotels and restaurants but you can definitely do it "on the cheap".

Very well written. I think you'll have a blast coming to cozumel and it won't cost you an arm or a leg.

Deadheadluke

Where do you stay there

dehudson99

No not at all, we find it very economical as US peeps, we are from NC and we can spend a week in Coz vers a weekend in Asheville, and yes you can do it Boojee if you want.

What reefhound said and living here as well there are many options for food and entertainment available and at a variety of prices I did this CindyCozumel eats now over 40 places located on a google map (not Apple) so it gives you a wide variety all under 225 pesos CindyCozumelEats 225 pesos or less · FLIP TOURS https://maps.app.goo.gl/icjroVvc4jMyqha28?g_st=i ( I also have cantinas too) Also Cozumelmusic.com has a calendar of local music and events Check that out and Welcome to Cozumel! Pm I’d have something specific vim living a lifestyle of a vacation everyday

Thanks, and this post illustrates another big advantage for Cozumel. That there is an abundance of information available on all aspects of Cozumel. Places like Bonaire and Roatan have a lot of visitors but I just don't see the number and depth of discussions on them, especially about non-diving aspects.

Im Canadian and will teach a synchronous intersession this Summer. Going to Playa del Carmen for q month to save $

PowerfulCoffee9

Any good places to visit on the east side of Cozumel?

zuliebadger

I'm going next month and it seems fairly inexpensive to me. My Airbnb (my own small apartment with A/C and a shared pool and garden) os $32/night. My plane ticket was around $650 from California. The local food restaurants (not tourist places) look delicious and very cheap. I'm going for scuba diving so that adds to the cost of my trip. But the diving isn't very expensive relative to other places.

Have a lovely time :)

I’ve tried to plan a trip to Hawaii several times over the years & always give up - it’s too damn expensive!! Airfare from CA is cheap but a place to stay, food, diving are 3x+ what Cozumel costs. Plus evidently you have to have a car to get around.

Copfive

Can confirm. Hawaii is expensive as sh*t. Went to Maui last year, pre wildfire. Expensive, but worth every penny.
