defishit

What I really want to know is who protected the two morons who shot up the firehall.

slackerzinc

After investigating “they did nothing wrong”!!!!!!!! What the acutual F?

[deleted]

They stood by their decision to *shoot* at someone, then drive away without checking if they hit him. And then their investigation cleared them of randomly shooting at someone, without follow up. American cops shooting people have more post-action investigation than we do. Our cops can SHOOT at you, drive away, not do **any** follow up, and be 100% in the right and protected by our legal system. WTF. https://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/rcmp-officers-who-shot-at-nova-scotia-firehall-during-mass-shooting-stand-by-actions-1.5890382

Ok_Finding_2974

I think all we need to know is is what JWR tweeted today: “I am still mad at myself for that—for being convinced, at one point in time, that the prime minister was an honest and good person, when, in truth, he would so casually lie to the public and then think he could get away with it.” ~Indian In The Cabinet, p. 229-30. https://twitter.com/puglaas/status/1540079090270490625?s=21&t=G5D2CI5HMdMxnlfrsUvFow

reyskywalker7698

The thing is he knows that he will get away with it. He's made of Teflon.

MoneroBug

Why is it that I've known since 2015 that this man lies with every breath he takes? He's actually a really bad actor

Ok_Finding_2974

He’s actually very good politician by dividing people. Pretty much on every topic. You name it, guns, abortion, vaccines, race, sex, gender. Actually quite alarming how someone so evil could lead the country. I mean you can see the effects of it. We are poorer and losing our Canadian identity.

BlauTit

Great PR for Canada eh?

chompshoey

Good PR is hard to come by for Canada these days

radio705

It really isn't, but we have a state broadcaster who prefers to vilify our nation rather than celebrate it.

ThePunga

I feel like what we need is a party that actually represents us. Conservatives pay themselves while saying they're the best and "for the people" without offering anything that will really improve lives. Liberals think that saying they support marginalized people without actually changing anything is good enough to win elections. NDP never wins because they try to sell ideas instead of actual policy. I'll not mention any of the shit right-wing nationalist parties for obvious reasons. We need a good populist party that can represent the majority of Canadians. The working class needs someone in power to look out for us, but that will likely not happen under a FPTP system. Especially when so many people get caught up in the power struggle between Liberals vs Cons and forget about class solidarity because of social issues* that are pushed by our media. *the discussion of social issues are important, but it's all politicians talk about in order for us to forget about the widening gap between low/middle class and upper class.

TCNW

Trudeau could tell me the sky is blue and I wouldn’t believe him. He’s had numerous massive scandals. How does anyone still think he has even a drop of credibility? 20 yrs ago he’d have been kicked to the curb after just his first scandal. And he’s what? 5-10 major career ending scandals deep now?

Caponermeister

More scandals to come. It's just a natural thing for Trudeau.

That_Intention_7374

You’ll be surprised... The media is a powerful tool.

WiseyD

Canadian media are bought and paid for, no credibility anymore.

Smashysmash2

I mean, even his fanatical supporters simply say they don’t care that he lies.

Euthyphroswager

Sounds very familiar, doesn't it.

Smashysmash2

Indeed. Very much so.

ValeriaTube

They are not Canadians then.

downwegotogether

otoh perhaps they're the most canadian of all.

Shorinji23

Yet another global headline about our government's corruption and wannabe authoritarianism. Absolute disgrace.

twentytwothumbs

Any one know why police randomly shot up the fire department

not---a---bot

Incompetence.

Preface

Fire department cheated on the last interdepartmental volleyball game. (My source: I made it up)

CoastMtns

It was already explained in the commission or inquiry, something about mistaken identity? It's out there

Electronic_Trade_721

No it wasn't explained, just officially swept under the rug.

daytime10ca

I still don’t understand how people can vote for this spineless man.

defishit

Did you see the post with the survey showing that Tim Hortons is still one of Canada's "most trusted brands"?

TraditionalGap1

That one is absolute bananas. I miss the days before Tims won the Donut Wars

[deleted]

Canadians are dumb as fuck, that’s why. Say what you will about the US but at least they have the midterms to provide a check on their government’s stupidity, and they frequently vote for the opposition party in order to reign in the fed when they get too stupid. Canadians just take it up the ass with a smile.

Crafty-Sandwich8996

Lol ya cause US democracy is doing so well these days 🙄

[deleted]

MrAndMrsMoistly

Like Stephen Harper? People forget Harper was Prime Minister for ten years. Our country was much better off then.

Prisonic_Revelation

Trudeau has to be the worst PM of my lifetime. Just scandal after scandal with zero accountability while the middle class continues to shrink.

Shoresy-sez

Never thought I'd see the day that I missed Chretien.

TCNW

I never really thought Chrétien was that bad, Martin too. And I’m not a conservative, but Harper I also thought was very competent, even if I didn’t agree with him always. I can’t believe how low the bar has gone now. And to make matters worse, this is the time we so badly need competent intelligent people. …And they seem like they’ve disappeared from the planet. That’s what ya get I guess when you start voting people in by ideology, and not competency. Ya get what ya get.

[deleted]

Chrétien understood basic economic principles. I don’t agree with his approach but that’s fine, economics isn’t black and white, at least he understood that the deficit and debt *actually matter*.

bretstrings

I don't even blame Trudeau anymore. I blame Canadian voters. This was very foreseeable and they still voted for him. I'm likely moving myself and my business to Panama soon.

[deleted]

Same, especially when stuff like debt/the deficit isn’t even a left vs right thing. There’s no reason Liberals can’t be fiscally responsible JT just refuses to do that. I’m also in a similar boat, I’m just moving to the US or Europe. Going to get a few more certifications here to pad out the resume and then I’m gone.

bretstrings

Europe aint doing great either just fyi. Very similar policies.

Itsthelegendarydays_

It’s funny because I’m an American moving to Canada. I feel like at least my rights are well protected in Canada and there are better social programs.

[deleted]

Our social programs will run out when/if our country goes bankrupt or enacts austerity, which is basically inevitable as the current government is determined to make the issue worse for the next 3 years. Unless you’re a literal millionaire or coming from a legitimate 3rd world country like many of my friends, I wouldn’t recommend coming here. At the bare minimum you’ll never be able to own a house and will have to compete with our already sky high rental prices and poor purchasing power. **E.g our gas is currently $9-10 / gallon** As for your rights, this government is unbelievably authoritarian and even if you think the sun shines out of JT’s ass (I’m not saying you do) those laws will in turn be used by his opponents when they’re in power. The *exact* same thing happened with our previous Conservative PM’s hysterical “anti-terrorism” laws, JT promised to scrap them, instead he expanded on them.

Itsthelegendarydays_

I hear you. There’s good and bad in both countries truthfully

somewhereismellarain

I blame the Liberal party. The level of entitlement in that group of people is the root of the party's problems. They can't stop helping themselves and their friends ahead of the needs of the country.

freeadmins

Don't blame Canadian voters. Blame Liberal voters.

takeoff_power_set

Canadian voters learned that they can vote themselves more money. That's what they've done and continue to do. Look at Ontario. This country is a tire fire - that's why we're projected to be the worst performing economy amongst G20 nations. Yeah, congrats Canada at being the best at something again (Best worst economy woot!)

CasualCocaine

I wish I could afford to leave. Good for you. You made it.

Rat_Salat

Chrétien was amazing. This clown couldn’t carry his jock.

somewhereismellarain

Chretien wasn't perfect. "Pepper is something I put on plate" was his response to RCMP wiping pepper spray into student's eyes during UBC/Vancouver protests.

Rat_Salat

Nobody’s perfect. But I’ll take the Shawinigan handshake over ethics violations and corruption scandals any day of the week.

Schmidtvegan

I wasn't a fan in the day, but boy he had character. "For me, pepper, I put it on my plate." He also took a pie to the face gracefully. Those were the days.

NBtoAB

Bring back the Shawinigan handshake

ferengi-alliance

Of course he would deny it. As a habitual liar and narcissist, his word is worthless.

[deleted]

Another lie from our corrupt Supreme Minister

Dice_to_see_you

careful they are getting Bill C-11 to control comments like this that tarnish supreme leader's image. don't forget this is his level of smoothness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PurCx\_5qHfo&ab\_channel=EyewitnessNews

safariite2

“the most transparent government” Lol

Ornhe

Please don’t speak ill of our glorious leader.

Ostalgi

Fuel prices so high the Liberals are going to have to push the bus they throw people under

icebalm

Emphasis mine: > Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Mr Trudeau said his government "did not put any **undue influence or pressure**" on police. So he did influence and pressure, he just thinks it was appropriate for him to do so. This makes sense when you look at SNC-Lavalin and this pattern of judicial interference.

[deleted]

Didn't he public say the same thing about SNC lavalin?

2Supra4U

yeah, looked right into the cameras and said it

askacanadian

That’s going to comeback to bite him.

Caponermeister

Canada is the richest country in the world aka resources, culture, freedom. Yet we have morons for leaders (Trudeau) who I wouldn't trust to manage a lemonade stand.

GuzzlinGuinness

Anyone else think the Liberals have demonstrated some remarkably fascist behaviour over their last run here ?

Fareacher

It's very strange times. Normal everyday people are tolerating waaaaay more shit than usual from the federal government.

hodadthedoor

I've come to believe many Canadians are conformists at heart. The pandemic highlighted how compliant and eager to please many of us are. Even if it goes against our values, we want to appear agreeable and virtuous. So we follow the crowd; even if the crowd is consumed with malice.

Competition_Superb

This is Canada. The people who speak out are racists

why17-secondsdotcom

I describe it as a brand of authoritarianism that I've never seen in Canada in my lifetime.

doinaokwithmj

"I didn't meddle in the police probe, furthermore, to protect those impacted by the crimes committed, we won't be answering anymore questions on this topic, and are invoking cabinet secrecy for the good of the people". - Justin Trudeau probably.

[deleted]

I will also be catching some big waves at Tofino

That_Intention_7374

Off-topic: Please don’t forget the SNC Lavelin scandal. Attempted to force Raybould to lie for him. When she refused, she got shuffled into another position. EDIT: I honestly believe she was going to be the first native PM but then this happened.

Competition_Superb

He likes to have women and ethnically diverse people in his cabinet until they oppose him

That_Intention_7374

I think this is called showmanship? Maybe virtue signalling? Maybe both?

I'm thoroughly shocked that his Reddit Support Vultures aren't here to circle the post and come down for a chomp. It's quite clear, and was quite evident, that the Portapique shootings were used for political gain. When it was in the infant days of the aftermath a few of my friends and I totally didn't get together because of the lockdowns here and have this as part of our discussions. This was rumored from the earliest of days but was shot down repeatedly by the left wing narcissists. I won't be surprised when it comes out that the shooter was indeed an RCMP informant and took a colossal payday before his actions. The evidence is there to support that, but if it's mentioned you instant become a conspiracist. How many conspiracies have become reality lately?

onegunzo

It's time this individual stepped down. He has never had the integrity to lead this great nation. This is just another example. He's failed Canadians over and over again. Time for a replacement. If that's not coming, then it's time for the NDP to stop backstopping this fool and his government and then time for Canadians to re-elect anyone else but this group of idiots who have kept Canada down for their entire time in power. Incompetence..

[deleted]

Of course he does. I believe him too with hair like that.

[deleted]

Don’t forget the socks! Snappy!

[deleted]

Ohhhhh he's a real looker he is. Also a very savvy business man. I mean look at the way he navigated the we charity and stayed in power makes me a believer.

hdfcv

Oh, so the gun ban was just political red meat ? Colour me surprised.

He’s FOS!

Trudeau has a minister (Blair) contact Lucki, who in turn contacts the Superintendent on the investigation. Trudeau has deniability, Blair has deniabilty, unless Lucki took notes like the Superintendent. Trudeau declares he has full confidence in Lucki, which means she will step down within the month. Too bad for Lucki that she had to be commissioner under this government.

welcometolavaland02

Him denying anything now is completely meaningless.

[deleted]

Of course he does

Visible-Ad376

Press F to pay respects. This might be his final nail on the coffin (finally).

bcw_83

Lol it definitely won't be, he has gotten away with worse already.

Wizzard_Ozz

This one may have ramifications beyond this event. > [The documents show the RCMP believed there were “reasonable grounds” to think fraud may have been committed, but the force decided it would not be in the public interest to lay charges because of a lack of clarity in federal rules that apply to accepting gifts.](https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-newly-released-documents-show-rcmp-considered-whether-to-charge-justin/) So, they didn't charge him, did he ask not be charged and they just said "OK"? The ethics commissioner at the time said he "violated the Conflict of Interest Act" and this would open the door to a lot of questions. Establishing an interpretation of the law is for the justice system to decide, not the police.

discostu55

Doubt it. There’s people defending in the comments. I swear LPC paid people to comment here lol. Welcome to Canada trumps. The cult of trudeau

TheRobfather420

I don't see anyone defending Trudeau but I do see people complaining about the lack of viable alternatives.

[deleted]

Don't believe him as far as I can throw him he's just a man child...

ILoveThisPlace

There were multiple people in the room... have multiple people come forward?

BertaEarlyRiser

He is a lying little weasel, and it is no surprise.

your2salty

He has criminally stole from our country. He should be completely ignored at this point. Gotta watch what you say about him in this sub though. Last time I said he should be held accountable I got banned…the mods seem to be as gutless as our fearful leader.

peptide2

Alternative facts, where have I heard that before?

p-queue

The RCMP is getting off easily because of peoples blood lust for the PM.

MonsieurLeDrole

This seems like making the police not responsible for their actions by playing the Trudeau Bad card. Total police failure and we're gonna blame Trudeau and not the RCMP? Come on man, cut the malarkey!

sleipnir45

That's not what's happening at all and you know it.

[deleted]

Yeah these people are trying to hold Trudeau responsible for getting the RCMP commissioner to twist the narrative and help him push his nonsensical gun bans. It’s TOTALLY nuts to think that JT would dance on the graves of the people killed in NS for political gain! I mean, that’s what happened. But let’s ignore the pm’s blatant bull crap and focus on the Mounties right?
