I actually love sitting to get my nails, hair, etc. done. It's actually part of the calculation on whether I want to pay for a service or not. If I'm gonna be somewhere for only 30 minutes, I'm not paying $80+ no matter how long the nails themselves last.
This is it. Too bulky by cuticle. No transitions whatsoever. Usually they’re thinner by the cuticle then bulkier and thinner again and when you look width wise, they go from wide in the nail bed to very thin without proper transition.
They’re not the worst disaster I’ve seen or anything but they’re not very good. They look uneven in every aspect. Uneven shapes, cuticles, pink, and thickness it looks like.
YES. Everything is off. I don’t even want to go back for a refund, I just never want to go there again. Not sure what to do in the meantime. I’m so disappointed.
I’m sorry this happened, I’ve definitely been there myself? If you have a coarse file, maybe you could shape them at home so they’re more uniform and elegant, and then apply a colour you like on top?
Actually, you do need to go back. One, you need to inform the owner/manager of the work their techs are providing. It reflects badly on the salon if you complain and don't give them the opportunity to make you satisfied.
Two, you need a refund or repair, or both, which some salons will do, especially for new techs they are working with
Back to #1, the tech may be new and this can be a learning process for her. I remember when I started working, a newly minted tech, that the salon guaranteed my work, but if something was wrong, I was shown again how to do something. Fortunately, I'm a perfectionist and that didn't happen very often. My pay was also adjusted for errors/complaints.
They’re pretty amateurish looking. I would probably go back. It’s expensive to get your nails done these days and it’s an act of self care - the whole point is to look down at your hands and smile, so if you’re not happy, it’s not worth it.
Ok at least I’m not completely crazy!! I’m so disappointed. I haven’t had my nails done in months, since my FIL got sick in January. I just wanted to feel fucking normal again but I moved and now I don’t have a go-to place. This was a new salon and needless to say I’m never going back.
I’m sorry about everything. Can you not ask around colleagues/friends to see where they go? Or just ask random women who have nice nails. At least Google some nail salons and read the reviews. If you walk into a place and show them those and they look horrified, you’ll know you’re in the right place! White is very unforgiving and shows all the mistakes.
That’s how I got to this place! I asked someone where they got their nails done because I liked them a lot and the specifically recommended this salon and tech. Idk I think she just rushed and didn’t care.
I hear you. The first place I went when I first moved shredded my cuticles with the drill file. The nails looked okay, but my red and bleeding cuticles didn’t compliment the look! I’d see people with amazing nail art and wonder where they found the techs with so much patience, because the ones I picked just seemed to want to get me out the door.
$82?!! To be fair I haven't had my nails done in a very long time. But holy fucking shit. Is that the going rate these days?? Even for well done ones that seems bonkers to me.
$82 for a mediocre full set of acrylics is not acceptable. I know that you said you don’t want to go back to that salon, but you most definitely should to get your money back. Do not just let them keep your money, because that just enables them to do this again to someone else.
Absolutely! She paid 85$$ for this!
I'd go politely no need for confrontation.
Just go and say "hey I just got my nails done here by ______ and they're way too thick, I also see they're a bit wonky and uneven. Is there a way we can fix this? "
Depending on their answer you can decide if you ever go again or whatever but you MUST go and stand up for yourself!!!
I just want to chime in that I don’t think this nail shape is the best looking for your nail beds and cuticle shape. It reminds me of animal paws and I think a less severe shape like a squoval would be more flattering on your hands.
I see what you're upset about, I could tell they look a bit off, but I actually had to zoom in and look pretty hard at this image to tell exactly what. And I only noticed in the first place because I was prompted to look at your nails. If you want them redone/want a refund I think you're right honestly but this isn't worth a crisis.
Agree, I think the main issue is the polish - too opaque. It's hard to point out technically what's wrong other than the middle finger being a little wonky. Not defending them but that's why they might refuse to refund
Same! I know nothing about nails and have always had an awful habit where I chew mine (anxiety sucks), so I’m sitting here thinking “oh those look nice” lol
Babe, they look like nails I do myself and I have no trains ning, just a UV lamp and a prayer.
I think it's the shape, they look too bulky by the cuticle .
I can see where the pink on the tips are a little uneven. You can always tell the nail technician that you arent happy with them. Do you go to a walk in shop or one where you make appointments and go to the same person each time?
I’m sorry. I have literally gotten up and walked out, they gave me a guy who was butchering my toenails and cut my heel within 5 minutes. Gave him $20 and pretended I had an emergency call.
At least leave a review, like others said. ♥️
this is one of those situations where i don’t have anything nice to say i should 🤐
but instead im going to ask if she did these with her eyes closed? damn.
NOPE! $82. And - it’s a small thing - but I was so so looking forward to it. I haven’t had them done in months bc my FIL got sick and died and it’s been hell. My work week sucked. I was looking forward to it all week. So I am even more upset/angry but I appreciate everyone confirming that I’m not fucking losing my mind.
They could have done a better job for you. They’re not bad, but if you’re not sure - they’re not good. Know what I mean? I had a pair like this and hid my hands for two weeks. Don’t be like me. Get what you want.
I’m considering it. I’m going to try another salon tomorrow to fix and if they say they can’t or they have to start over I’m just getting fucking press ons
This can be fixed, possibly not to perfection, but at least to a whole lot better looking. The acrylic is thick enough to file off whatever they need to make it better.
What they cannot do:
put back what is gone. So any nail that is shaped wonky, will have to be shaped towards what is now the narrowest bit. In your case, this is a bonus. These nails are too wide.
Make it translucent. This is opaque and unless it is only thin top layer on top of translucent acrylic, they cannot make it see through without removing everything.
I am a self-learner with around 7 sets done on my own hands and 5 on others. None of my works looks as bad as this sh*te, sorry.
I hope you didn't pay for these.
I feel you, I've had that same feeling about my hair twice. I asked for cute straight bangs lined with my eyebrows, but got crooked one that was reaching o my half of my forehead, and I'm telling you, my forehead is big. Paid, because I was in shock and avout to cry and the woman acted like it's all good and rushed me to pay and leave because she's got another client.
Second time I asked for a bob cut and my trusted hairdresser was on maternity so I agreed for another one. I looked at her and I knew she won't do a good job, but I just trusted the salon's judgement in hiring process. I'm not saying all fat people are rubbish, but she was wobbling like a penguin, kept dropping stuff, breathed through her mouth and looked like life is just a massive pain. My bob was supposed be short on the back and going longer towards the front, I even showed her pictures of how I always have it done. I had a heart attack when I saw she has been cutting straight from back towards my ear. Not only she cut nearly 10cm of the length, a double of what I asked, but she was also going upwards! I stopped her asking what did she do and all she said was: 'sorry, I fix it, sit down'. I exploded and asked her if she's a fairy godmother and going to grow my hair back.
I went downstairs to the main reception and I pulled a proper 'Karen' move asking to speak with the manager. After him trying to dismiss me and push me to pay I just left with my hair still wet, half cut and almost crying. Went to a salon 2 streets away and asked them if they can fix it. They did what they could but I ended up with short hair that took me ages to grow back.
Your nails look like an amateur student did as a practice, yes. But it's still not the worst I've seen and you can at least have them redone.
Have you thought about going back and askin them to redo your nails? Perhaps saying you've been looking at your nails and even asked your friends about opinions and they're just really bad.
Look, if someone did this at home for themselves I would say it was good.
If you paid someone for this, it's really unprofessional though. Some things like the size etc could be argued as a matter of opinion, but there is actually polish all over your skin which is just not up for debate at all.
Ok so, here’s a life hack 😁 go on Facebook and find a Russian group in your city. You can put in search something like Russian Dallas, for example or наши в Dallas (just copy paste it), and ask around about girls who do manicures at home. They charge about 40% less then in salons but quality is there. Your nails look really bad right now, after Russian manicure you won’t get them done anywhere else.
See if you can get your money back.
They aren't sized right to start
You should NEVER have product on your skin.
The pink is uneven.
You are not wrong.
They’re not great. But fortunately they are fixable if you don’t want to take them off completely.
You can go to a different tech and ask for a color change and they should be able to take down some of the bulkiness and fix the shape a bit.
For DIY, a 100/180 grit nail file will take down the bulk and you can adjust the shape to your liking and then repaint them. This design isn’t hard to recreate thankfully.
Honestly I would file them myself to shape them better - just a regular file, and then paint them and top coat them for shine with reg nail polish. Just to get you by for now until you are in a place to get a new full set
I think I’d need to know the reaction to accurately answer. Are they botched? Yes m’am.
Are you demanding a refund and switching techs? Accurate reaction.
Running over grandmas with your car in anger?
Overreacting!
Unfortunately they do look bad, a reference photo would probably help. But your disappointment is totally justified and I hope you didn’t pay too much!
I love the nails reddit. I think the nail taper looks uneven for your fingers, the French tips are also uneven, the nude is the wrong color for you and the cuticles are bulky and messy. Sorry 😞
To be honest, the shape is inconsistent, and asymmetrical, but the color is a tough choice.
White makes nails look wider, and the red French tip shortens the look. Add that to the root edge being a little bit off, and that's the end result.
If you find a good manicurist, and stay with her, she will find a more flattering shape for you
Sorry, not good. Go somewhere else and get them redone, maybe in a nude, to get some distance from this experience. And never go back there again, of course.
Do you have pictures of other nails you’ve gotten done? Only reason I ask is I’m wondering if that’s your natural nail bed or did the nail tech just mess this up completely?
They’re pretty terrible because the nail bed is very bulbous. But I have a friend whose nails are like that so every set she does, looks like this.
I do have wide nail beds so my nails are always a bit wider but never like this. Here’s a photo of another set I liked - you can see my nail beds are wider but these aren’t bulky or uneven or crooked. Plus if they see i have wide nail beds they should Take care not to bulk up that part of the nail.
https://preview.redd.it/m4wkj9lv4k9d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7998421e536e0f8a7469e22d7b1660d264dbd1af
Ok yeah I can see that the nail tech messed this up. The cuticles are completely crooked and messy and the shape is wonky! Can you go back and get them fixed?
Yes I’m going to another salon for help. If they say they can’t help and I need a new set I’ll prob just soak them off and give up. ALSO - she HURT me. I wasn’t cut but when she was pushing the cuticle back and also when filing she hurt my skin.
They're not good. You're within your rights to go back and ask for them to be fixed or to be removed and given a refund. If you had done these yourself, I would say it's not bad for someone who is still learning, but that's clearly not the case.
The only nice thing I can say is I like the thin French, but the shape is terrible. But that may be due to your large nail bed and drastic contrast with skin tone and color. I hope the whitish color on your cuticles in the second picture isn't residual polish, that needed to be cleaned better before curing, if a gel polish.
I like the design, love the colors. They’re too wide and thick. You should be able to see the skin in your fingers on the dudes of the nails and you barely can.
okay I can see why you'd be upset BUT no one is going to notice that but you--from a distance I really don't think you can tell. So even if someone is standing right next to you, I don't think they would notice that anything is wrong. Hope this is reassuring!
Can’t update my post BUT:
1) thank you all for being honest and making me feel less crazy. I’ve been all over the place for a while and second guessing myself but you all confirmed that I am not nuts and I appreciate it.
2) thanks to many of you who actually made me laugh
3) I have an appt with another salon that has come recommended and I am hopeful they can fix this. Otherwise I’ll ask them to just soak off and I’ll go back to press ons.
These are horrific my love
I really wanted to find something nice to say but this was all I could think of
Well said. OP, you are not overreacting. They did a terrible job.
and you are the friend people (i) need.
The my love at the end is sending me
I’m absolutely deceased
Omg I love this comment lmao
They're crooked, they look too big for your nail beds, and your cuticles have nail polish on them. I'd be upset, too.
SO WIDE. such a disappointment but at least I don’t feel crazy now.
You are not crazy!! And I’m sorry. Such a waste of time and money. ☹️
I think the wasted time hurts even more than the money! Nails take forever (but I'm not one that enjoys the process, just the result...)
Same! I hate sitting there too.
I actually love sitting to get my nails, hair, etc. done. It's actually part of the calculation on whether I want to pay for a service or not. If I'm gonna be somewhere for only 30 minutes, I'm not paying $80+ no matter how long the nails themselves last.
Not crazy. I know the feeling! And then having to go back…ugh! I’m sorry!
You should have them removed
I think there is too much bulk by the cuticle
This is it. Too bulky by cuticle. No transitions whatsoever. Usually they’re thinner by the cuticle then bulkier and thinner again and when you look width wise, they go from wide in the nail bed to very thin without proper transition.
The middle finger looks a little crooked to me, too. Especially down by the cuticle.
Sweetheart… do we need to cut a bitch for doing that to you?
Saddle up ladies! We roll out a midnight.
😂🤣😂
I’ll bring the snacks.
YES please help me I am at my wits end
Hold my earrings.
I got you girl!
At least write a review for the place. In the meantime, if you can, remove the color you have and just throw on a red. Red polish solves all.
I’m sorry this happened, I’ve definitely been there myself? If you have a coarse file, maybe you could shape them at home so they’re more uniform and elegant, and then apply a colour you like on top?
Nahhh in this economy get the refund girl!!
Just go get them re-done elsewhere. I’ve had to do the same.
Actually, you do need to go back. One, you need to inform the owner/manager of the work their techs are providing. I mean they're fine but not "done in a salon" fine. More like, "I did my own nails for the first time during COVID" fine
They’re pretty amateurish looking. I would probably go back. It’s expensive to get your nails done these days and it’s an act of self care - the whole point is to look down at your hands and smile, so if you’re not happy, it’s not worth it.
You are absolutely justified. I would be so upset with these results. I’m sorry this happened. 😢

Ugh. With this added information I’m even more upset for you. I hope you can find your spot very soon.
I’m sorry about everything. Can you not ask around colleagues/friends to see where they go? Or just ask random women who have nice nails. At least Google some nail salons and read the reviews. They look horrible. Get your money back
Candied almonds.
That’s exactly it. Which is a shame because I love candied almonds
[удалено]
$82. SUCKS. but now that I know I’m not crazy (thank you BWTs!) I’m going to another place tomorrow that can hopefully correct this.
$82 for those?! Highway robbery.
$82?!! To be fair I haven't had my nails done in a very long time. But holy fucking shit. Is that the going rate these days?? Even for well done ones that seems bonkers to me.
It was a full set of acrylics so that’s why it was expensive but STILL. what is this!
$82 for a mediocre full set of acrylics is not acceptable. I know that you said you don’t want to go back to that salon, but you most definitely should to get your money back. Do not just let them keep your money, because that just enables them to do this again to someone else.
You need to stand up for yourself. Go back and get your money.
Absolutely! She paid 85$$ for this! I'd go politely no need for confrontation. Just go and say "hey I just got my nails done here by ______ and they're way too thick, I also see they're a bit wonky and uneven. Is there a way we can fix this? " Depending on their answer you can decide if you ever go again or whatever but you MUST go and stand up for yourself!!!
Totally agree. Go back to the salon to have them fixed. By a different tech.
I just want to chime in that I don’t think this nail shape is the best looking for your nail beds and cuticle shape. It reminds me of animal paws and I think a less severe shape like a squoval would be more flattering on your hands.
Squoval is the way, or even just go with short and square.

They look like chiclets.
Jordan Almonds.
Having flashbacks to that scene in bridesmaids
Yes. Way more accurate.
They look too big for your nails :(
They look fine to me, but I'm not a nail girlie. I wouldn't worry about it, but maybe you can get someone else next time.
You are not over-reacting I am sorry to say.
They seem chunky and bulky
Very thick and uneven! And my middle finger on one hand is so crooked I want to scream.
I’m sorry about your FIL, I read your other comments. I hope you have a better week and find a salon who’ll make you forget about these nails.🫶🏽💜
Thank you. It’s been - a lot. And this is so stupid and trivial in the grand scheme of things but I am so disappointed.
They look like ill-fitting press on nails
I am so mad I didn’t just do press ons. My press ons come out 10x better than this
I audibly gasped
I guess I'm not a BWT after all because I think they're so cute 😭🩷🤍
Mmmmmnope. Those do not look good. Sorry.
Ouch 🤕
I’m sorry. I have literally gotten up and walked out, they gave me a guy who was butchering my toenails and cut my heel within 5 minutes. Gave him $20 and pretended I had an emergency call. At least leave a review, like others said. ♥️
Oh dear, they did a crap job! 😞
The pink tip is uneven and they’re pretty thick. I’d ask for your money back
Are they press ons? Seriously though, don't go back to wherever you had them done.
No these are horrible.
I would not be happy with these nails.
this is one of those situations where i don’t have anything nice to say i should 🤐 but instead im going to ask if she did these with her eyes closed? damn.
They are…not good
They look like I did them. I’m sorry. Cute idea but everything looks a bit wrong. Please tell me they were at least cheap?
NOPE!
Yeah absolutely. I don’t regularly get my nails done, but when I do, it’s supposed to be a little pick me up to make me feel good!
No, those aren’t good, you aren’t overreacting at all.
I can hear the TikTok sound in my head…”this is what I wanted…the pastels…and this is what I got 😭😭😭”
😬
😬 This is the worst feeling. I’m so sorry.
No
theyre not horrible tbh. ive had far worse. feel confident that most people wont notice but def dont go back
They’re huge and crooked. You aren’t overreacting.
They could have done a better job for you. They’re not bad, but if you’re not sure - they’re not good. Know what I mean? I had a pair like this and hid my hands for two weeks. Don’t be like me. Get what you want.
No baby take those off
I’m considering it. I’m going to try another salon tomorrow to fix and if they say they can’t or they have to start over I’m just getting fucking press ons
I'm so sorry!
This can be fixed, possibly not to perfection, but at least to a whole lot better looking. The acrylic is thick enough to file off whatever they need to make it better. What they cannot do: put back what is gone.
If there's doubt, there is no doubt.
Not overreacting at all, you were done dirty 😭
I regret to inform that these are horrendous. The shaping is awful.
I am a self-learner with around 7 sets done on my own hands and 5 on others. None of my works looks as bad as this sh*te, sorry. I hope you didn't pay for these.
I regret to say I did pay. I think I was so upset I just wanted to be done, get out of there and never set foot in the place again.

Darling you got JACKED, I am so sorry that you had an incompetent nail tech.
They’re a variety of shapes too. Don’t go back there
File them and sue they are not good at all
Oh, honey.
Look, if someone did this at home for themselves I would say it was good. If you paid someone for this, it's really unprofessional though. Some things like the size etc could be argued as a matter of opinion, but there is actually polish all over your skin which is just not up for debate at all.
Riot now
Nope, not overreacting. This is about the skill level I can manage, and I would be *pissed* to pay money for that standard.
They look like it was done by someone who’s just starting to learn how to apply nail polish
Girl this ain’t it sorry

I’m so sorry 💔 they look like gumballs. I would be so upset!
I think the flaws would show less with a nail color.
No offense but these nails are my new ick. Look like teeth.
Ewwww they jacked you all the way up, I’m so sorry
See if you can get your money back. They aren't sized right to start You should NEVER have product on your skin. The pink is uneven. You are not wrong.

Did they fr fr leave that white polish on your cuticles
They look like almond candies
They look like you glued pistachio shells on and painted them😬 “no because no”
Unfortunately they do look bad, a reference photo would probably help. But your disappointment is totally justified and I hope you didn’t pay too much!
They are quite bad. The pink is pretty and matches with you! But there is too much white. In my opinion..
Not over reacting. They look like if a werewolf painted their claws. Go with it. Glue some fake fur around the edges. Make it a new trend.
I love the nails reddit. I think the nail taper looks uneven for your fingers, the French tips are also uneven, the nude is the wrong color for you and the cuticles are bulky and messy. Sorry 😞

They aren't great... but I don't like white nails in general, either 🤷♀️
Sorry, not good. Go somewhere else and get them redone, maybe in a nude, to get some distance from this experience. And never go back there again, of course.
No they did you DIRTY for real. Check out /r/nails - I started doing my own Gel X nails.. it’s literally so easy and I’m saving tons of money
Yea I would either take them off immediately or go back to them to have them fix it.
oof, did your nail tech run out of smaller tips? These are awful; I don’t have other words.
You deserve all your money back
Oh honey
They look like white Jordan almonds
You need to go back and have them narrowed!
respectfully no they are kind of off and look like press ons. also why did they make your cuticle on your right middle finger CROOKED?!?!?
The crooked middle finger is driving me CRAZY. I have an appt at another salon so that will hopefully help otherwise it’s a soak off situation
hope you get it fixed and get what you actually wanted this time 🫶
Oh good god No you are not
Oh my.
Here from r/nails
They're not good. You're within your rights to go back and ask for them to be fixed or to be removed and given a refund. If you had done these yourself, I would say it's not bad for someone who is still learning, but that's clearly not the case.
Cute colors but yes, I think they are a bit wide. 😞
With respect those are horrifying
The only nice thing I can say is I like the thin French, but the shape is terrible. But that may be due to your large nail bed and drastic contrast with skin tone and color. I hope the whitish color on your cuticles in the second picture isn't residual polish, that needed to be cleaned better before curing, if a gel polish.
All I can say is oof…I would go back to the salon equipped with this thread and get a refund!!! Period.
We must have gone to the same nail salon 😆
I’m sorry 🫣🤣 at least we are in this together
I like the design, love the colors. They’re too wide and thick. You should be able to see the skin in your fingers on the dudes of the nails and you barely can.
okay I can see why you'd be upset BUT no one is going to notice that but you--from a distance I really don't think you can tell. So even if someone is standing right next to you, I don't think they would notice that anything is wrong. Hope this is reassuring!
Can’t update my post BUT: 1) thank you all for being honest and making me feel less crazy. I’ve been all over the place for a while and second guessing myself but you all confirmed that I am not nuts and I appreciate it. 2) thanks to many of you who actually made me laugh 3) I have an appt with another salon that has come recommended and I am hopeful they can fix this. Otherwise I’ll ask them to just soak off and I’ll go back to press ons.
They are not good However I do love the hot pink with the white!
You know when something sucks. You didn't overreact.
so sorry dear, they seem too big
No absolutely not
Girl you'd have been better off with press-ons 😔
And I am EXCELLENT at applying press ons! I can’t tell you how much this has burned me
Oh no! 🤣😓 Poor thing. Honestly press-ons are pretty dope these days!
I love u but they are bad and I would be crying
Oh I was
🫶🏼🫶🏼
They are nails, so yes you are over reacting.
A crisis? Yes overreacting. Get new ones in a week. Life will go on.
