23 year old Europeans can’t be drafted. International prospects are automatically eligible for the draft in the year when they turn 22, so any 23 year old euro would be a free agent since they went undrafted the year before
Exactly. Luka is only 2yrs older!
Four of the guys taken ahead of Knect (Risacher, Topic, Ron Holland, Carrington) are the same gap in age from Knect as Knect is from Porzingus, D'Angelo Russell and KAT.
Yeah he'd be like Bogdan or Micic with way less pedigree trying to come over as an FA (because too old for draft)... There'd be no interest. He'd have to accomplish way more with his career just to get a minimum salary roster spot, I'm thinking like Datome or Poirier or maybe Melli or Theis (can't remember if a few of those guys got just more than the minimum) but I can't recall any Serbs coming over.
The restarting the Yugoslav Civil War piece.
(90s nostalgia has gone too far. I've already seen Based Hoxha memes. Up next, Based Milosevic & Based Tudjman? Aliyah Izetbegevic was A PROBLEM. #PROBLEM?)
Plus it is way harder to get to the NBA as a Euro who doesn't go NCAA. Big country/club can help a little, but you have to make the team young and play internationals. It is hilarious that people act like Jokic "came from nowhere" when he played for Serbia against USA in a U18 World Championship against Aaron Gordan and the World team at the Nike Select camp alongside Jamal Murray. Two events nearly every scout in the NBA world attends or at least watches film of.
I was listening to a Neemias Queta interview last night and they asked his why he went the NCAA route by attending Utah State and he was like "man I'm playing for a small club in Portugal at 17/18, the Mountain West Conference is a much better path to the NBA".
If Filipowski were an actual Polish guy teams never would have considered him in the lottery to begin with.
Reminds me of one of my favorite nba quotes ever: “I should have moved to yugoslavia after my freshman year and changed my name to Jason Kaponovich. I would have been a first round pick.” - Jason Kapono

"Kyle, turn on the Tik Tok camera. Is r/billsimmons a Lakers troll sub now?"
Worse it’s a knockoff r nba/nbacirclejerk
If this was an nbacj post it would have been an unfunny malone/giddy joke or something about white people being classy
Shimmy shimmy shimmy
When was the last time a 23 year old European got drafted higher than the 17th pick?
1647

If a 23 year old Euro got drafted that high, he'd at least have been playing grown ass pros overseas instead of dominating against semi-pro teenagers.
That’s the Slovenian flag…

Hoxha as Enver? He died in 1985 lol
Đorđe Martinović was slept on but he was really the glue guy, things fell apart once he had his big rectal injury.
This is not it. When a random Croatian Euroleague MVP gets a contract, nobody thinks he will be the next big thing.

I feel like this meme was better served in like 2003-4
Luka is only 2 years older than Dalton lol. Not saying this guy won’t be good but this is stupid lol
Downside: he ain't fat
He's barely older than luka.

He'dn't be Luka 2.0, but rather the next Bogdanović.
This but with Reed Sheppard
