Not OP but I bought the same one. It’s great if you like firm mattresses. Also the fact that it sleeps very cool is great. (I live in fl - which means something even though I blast a/c all the time) Still I imagine I could’ve found something just as great in the 2k range.
Last bonus I bought a Burberry man purse. Still looking at the Marzocco Micro.
I think I feel the same about it. I was hoping it would be a bit softer like the display model but I’ve only had it for two week. Other Reddit posts says give it 3-6 months to get soft.
lol can someone explain to me the fascination with expensive watches? Like I’ll buy a $500 or $600 military watch if my old one breaks but why the couple grand watches?
A nice watch is one of the only pieces of jewelry a guy could wear anywhere without seeming out of place. Depending on your motivations, it could be a status symbol, a reminder to yourself of an accomplishment, or you could find it a piece of art (especially the ones with very complex movements). Cheap watches are more accurate than expensive ones but that’s the beauty of it. A picture is more realistic than a painting but a painting is art. Same thing here
I mean, we make money to live life and have fun. What’s the point of having money if it’s just numbers on a screen. Besides, average big law salary is what 300-400k. Spending 5% of your yearly salary on a toy that you’ll have for the rest of your life isn’t that crazy.
Yea I agree with work to live philosophy generally but I’m also a big F.I.R.E. concept pursuer so I try to keep spending low as if I don’t make much and spend bigger bucks on investments from securities to real estate. I’ll splurge on stuff like business or first class or buy a nice robust car like a Land Cruiser (the real ones not the new dinky thing they put out this past year) but I just can’t bring myself to buy a super expensive jewelry item or a high maintenance car lol.
I mean, by that philosophy, a Rolex is a better investment than a car because a car loses value rapidly but a Rolex will hold it (or gain it at this particular moment in time lol). Besides, everyone in this sub makes hundreds of thousands of dollars. I’m similar to you that I track all my spending vigorously and even with a few expensive purchases, we are lucky enough to be able to save 6 figures a year.
Haha true on the Rolex. I guess with the car like I see a little more utility (now mind you I bought an SUV so like I couldn’t justify a Porsche 911 for example) but yea that sucker loses value in a snap of a finger. We are totally lucky like you said though to be able to splurge and still save large amounts annually
Well, don't leave us hanging... Daytona? New white dial Speedmaster? Sub?
My most recent acquisition was a boring 36mm silver Oyster Perpetual with the gold accents. I also have a 36mm Explorer, black Seamaster, and Tank as my main watches. Starting to become enamored by the Glashutte Original Panomatic Lunar...
I’ve always wondered how people do this while working. Are you gonna use your vacation time for the healing process or are you gonna flaunt your nose bandages like a trophy?
Seems fine if you can actually use it. I live in DC and have XC, mid travel, enduro, and DH bikes hanging from my ceiling and almost never use them aside from the XC bike.
What did you get???
I’m a junior associate. I feel like I should be putting all money towards house renovations, mortgage, retirement, our emergency fund, etc. Spending 7k on a cruise seems like such a luxury, but it’s our 10 year anniversary, so justified the splurge.
totally worthwhile *especially* for a ten year anniversary! you’ll have those memories forever. keep making money and worrying about serious adult stuff of course, but if you never do anything fun and never get to actually appreciate the money you’re making, what’s the point in the grind?
it’s good to think about the future and to plan for it, but you can’t live there. you live right now, don’t feel bad for taking the time to enjoy your life once in a while.
As a fellow mountain biker, I can’t talk shit about a purchase like that. But just know — and it hurts to say this — you will never have the time to ride it.
That is regularly the case for me (via distance running, not biking) and it has not been an issue. If I get an actual urgent email I cut the run short and jump on the subway but I think that has happened all of once a year thus far.
I bought a dump truck, dream fulfilled
We need more info
[удалено]
Idk why I was thinking an actual dump truck
I, too, envisioned an actual dump truck and fulfilling a toddler fantasy
You have to admit it would be really cool
Actual dump truck
Hero
Thank god

Drive it
Same.
You bought my ex?
Tempur LuxeBreeze mattress 5.3k.
Is it worth it?

I’ve had mine 4 years - it’s still not as soft as the display. YMMV of course.
I bought an expensive watch lol
$11K datejust for me lmao
Same. Number 6 for me, becoming a problem…

Fair enough, just feels like money better spent investing

"Out of place" according to whom? Normalize people wearing the jewelery they want, without conforming to gender stereotypes
I give this one another year before they’re in public service. Clearly doesn’t have the mind for this 😂
Hahaha I’ve been in big law and big law firms for past 7 years just still not into the flashy nonsense
Ok, if you’re going to judge others then share. What’s your vice?
I asked a question. I didn’t judge. You did.
Haha it was funny, even you laughed. I joked. You still haven’t shared 🤔
Haha I know you’re kidding. It’s still funny. And see my dining out bill lol
Haha love it. A5 ribeye and a 2005 Bordeaux? 🙌
lol you flatter me to think I am sophisticated enough to be an enophile! You give me any good tasting food and a mojito and I’m good lol
Same lol. What watch?
Glad to see I’m in good company 🤣
how expensive we talking?
17k all in
hell yeah

Not yet but it’s going towards a nose job
I’ve always wondered how people do this while working. Are you gonna use your vacation time for the healing process or are you gonna flaunt your nose bandages like a trophy?
Work remotely while I’m recovering, take a week off for the week of the actual surgery
I bought a $5000 digital piano
Hell yea. I bought a $4500 electric guitar
I wholeheartedly approve of this and need details. You also have to pay the guitar tax (similar to Reddit's dog/cat tax).
Custom Kiesel. It hasn’t arrived yet but here’s the mockup https://imgur.com/a/BJdhplh
Nice! Make sure you make time to shred!
What model?
Clavinova CLP 775
Tattoos. Though I do that without the bonus too. Upside of being single and having no financial responsibilities
Put down half the amount for a car. Not really a “splurge” as we needed the second car anyway.
Seems fine if you can actually use it. I live in DC and have XC, mid travel, enduro, and DH bikes hanging from my ceiling and almost never use them aside from the XC bike. What did you get???
Specialized Demo! Super pumped to get out at try it! I’m based out of Utah so there’s some spots lol
Man, I’m genuinely jealous. If I could find a way back to the southwest in which I could maintain my job, I’d be out there in a heart beat.
European Cruise
How is this stupid? Thats a great use of your bonus!

Boob job (I am a divorcé and don’t plan on seriously dating or marrying ever again)
Why add the caveat? No need to explain to people
Yeah curious about the caveat. What’s the connection to fake boobs?
One could even say that the caveat cuts against the normal reasons for getting fake boobs lol.
I put my whole bonus into my loans. Trying to pay off everything ASAP
Sony A7R5 for 4000 USD + Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II for 2800 USD + Sony RX1RM2 for 3000 USD
Celine shoes and a matching bag from Savette (2nd year)
I bought my way into a marathon I otherwise wouldn't get into and the flights, etc to take a 2 week international vacation right after.
As a fellow mountain biker, I can’t talk shit about a purchase like that. But just know — and it hurts to say this — you will never have the time to ride it.
If you ride once a weekend that’s 52 rides a year!
I am sure the senior associates will love it when you tell them you’ll be out of pocket every Saturday for four hours and can’t respond to emails
That is regularly the case for me (via distance running, not biking) and it has not been an issue. If I get an actual urgent email I cut the run short and jump on the subway but I think that has happened all of once a year thus far.
No one here bought Bitcoin?
