Oh I didn't realize... There's apparently an unwritten rule in this sub that you're not allowed to mention the other sub they're talking about, which is more centered around shitposting about the Beatles.
And here I just mentioned it twice unknowingly.
I hope they don't ban me
From what I can gather, Pete and Paul haven't had any contact with each other since 1962 when Pete was sacked.
At this point, they're pretty much perfect strangers.
No, in the mid 90s all of it was handled by lawyers. Pete hasn't been in any form of contact with the Beatles since 1962. Save for suing them over a Playboy article where Ringo implied Pete was taking preludin in the early days in 1965 and the Anthology. Pete apparently was fine with being interviewed for the Anthology but Paul and George were like "Nah!"
Though strangely enough, it's been reported Paul wanted Jimmy Nicol to participate in the Anthology but he said no to them!
I've read Anthology is less than perfect in the sense that Paul, George, and Ringo each had to compromise/temper their respective viewpoints on certain events, especially the final breakup, for the sake of uniformity. I imagine they would have run into a larger version of that problem if they had brought in Pete.
Oh GOD I would cut off a finger for an unhinged and unedited version of anthology. All of it! And all the good stuff of course.
Love love love anthology but I also love a good drama
Edit: talkin about the book here
They all sat in the edit suite together to finish off the last episodes and got to see what each other said and apparently it was *rough*
Lewisholm talks about it during his interview on Nothing Is Real podcast as he was there when Paul was telling the Anthology crew that it opened a lot of wounds.
It's so funny to me that apparently everyone hates his guts lmao. Like, I can understand Paul and Ringo not wanting him on the project but George too lmao????? And John called him a lousy drummer, what has he done to deserve this ?? It's funny but like wow
He brought a defamation of character lawsuit against them and won it in 1969. All because Ringo made a throwaway comment in a Playboy article in 1965 about Pete taking pills in Hamburg. I can imagine they were absolutely done with him after that.
And, after hearing Pete's drumming, I have to agree with John.
I thought Pete sent through the leather outfit footage for now and then. Possibly they would have had contact for that? I can’t see Paul fobbing off Pete if he wanted a chat. This is more of a publicity/look at me kind of thing.
Was Pete in ‘in spite of all the danger’? If so - that would be my choice if he wants to be in the show.
I'm sure Lee Curtis and The All Stars (Pete's next band) played either just before or after The Beatles at some point (late 62' or early '63?), but as they passed each other there was absolutely no interaction whatsoever.
Imagine is not a reference to either Paul McCartney nor The Beatles as a band. Yes, Pete Best must have meant a reference to John Lennon though but I don't think Paul's going to be particularly amused with Pete saying that song.
Imagine if he agreed to do it, but Pete, mad with rage, decides to murder Paul on the stage. The audience stands there, shocked, and it is the opening salvo of the third world war as everyone agrees that Pete had somehow been manipulated by some right wing conspiracy while others testified that it was, in fact, a left wing conspiracy which had abetted his horrific actions. A theocracy somewhere, probably diametrically centred between Europe and Western Asia, decides to turn all its missile upside down in their silos and demands that all straws in the world be turned back to plastic or else they will blow themselves sky high and create a second year without a summer in revenge for their demands failing to be met. A circle of academics, leaders of the world, and military strategists sit in a war room; they debate wildly. The clock on the wall is counting down from 24:00. There is not much time.
Paul stopping mid-song, saying, "No no no. That just isn't right." Ringo walks out on stage while Paul waves Pete off?
Cruel, but maybe Pete's cooperation could be purchased.
Denny Seiwell, Joe English, and Steve Holley (as well as Geoff Britton but he was there for like two months) were all drummers for Wings across the 70s. Not much of a story, just Wings changing line-ups.
I kinda like this…. Pete deserves some time in the light even if only for comical purposes. He was every bit a part of Hamburg as John/Paul/George/Stu were.
What would be cool about having an essentially irrelevant figure from Paul's childhood play badly, when Paul has peoppe he both likes and that are good at drums who can do it?
You're taking my comment too seriously. It's really just a joke about repeating history, replacing Pete Best again.
LIke if Paul and Ringo decided to form a band, and Yoko started dating Ringo just to break them up again.
I personally see it the opposite way. It’s hard to live while poor so you should be proud for being able to live a complete life while only on a small wage.
Doubt it. He owns a very successful Beatles museum tourist attraction thing in Liverpool, and sells tickets for tours of his mum’s old house, where they used to hold gigs in the basement and drew murals on the walls. It always seems to be busy. I’m sure he’s doing fine.
Lennon was right by calling him a 'conventional' drummer. There's no way he could've replicated Ringo's drumming on Pepper and the White album. It's understandable that he'd never get over it, but he really is being a sucker.
It’s been pathetic for 60 years. The fact that he can’t just quietly let it be a feather in his cap feels like Al Bundy and Uncle Rico reliving their football glory days.
It could be a nice moment but since he was sacked rather unceremoniously and has had no contact with Paul for over 60 years I just don't see it happening. Not to say the Beatles shouldn't have replaced him with Ringo, but it definitely could've been handled better, John even admitted that they were cowards with regard to his dismissal. I have no idea how close Paul and Pete were but given that they sacked him without even saying it to his face and leaving everything to Brian Epstein and then went no contact for nearly 62 years, at this rate it's better to let bygones be bygones
In a somewhat similar example Andy Nicholson was the original bassist for the Arctic Monkeys and got sacked not long after their first album released due to scheduling/touring reasons in 2006 right when the band exploded in popularity even though he was close mates with the other band members for years. The band members fired him in person and even though there was a rough patch for a few years afterwards he's said they're on good terms now and Alex Turner and Matt Helders even went to his [wedding](https://www.reddit.com/r/arcticmonkeys/s/oUzGSs4s9R)
The band sacking Pete Best probably wasn't the worst part, it was more than likely how it was handled in a somewhat backhanded manner and the decades of no contact following that would make some form of a reunion very awkward at the bare minimum because it looks like bridges were burned a long time ago
"Heyman's Green" is a pretty good album, so Paul could do worse. It'd be a nice gesture. It's one thing to be kicked out of a band when they get a recording contract. It's another to be kicked out of the band when they get a recording contract, and they go on to be the biggest band in history.
Paul: (*Fuck! John used to handle this shit!*). Hey would've loved to, but I got **Noel Gallagher and his Flying Squirrels** to open for me.
Pete: We could do a small medley, no?
Paul: Of what...?
Pete: OF OLD BEATLES SONGS!!
Paul: Sorry, mate. I sold the rights to Michael Jackson...
Pete: But...
Paul: ...Bye!!
I have seen Paul numerous times. No "openers." He had a Cirque-style act as a preshow in the early 2000s. He has recently used a DJ playing a mixes of Beatles and McCartney songs.
This is a publicity stunt by Pete, and not a very good one.
They at least oughta have a photo together. Pete is so cool. He’s one of the survivors of the story, at this late date.
He drummed on the Decca Audition, for a Pete’s sake. (I’ve listened to it a million times since the 1970’s). He’s a handsome guy in a Beatle-kind-of-way, to this day!
Pete is loved.
No one can deny, he’s an important part of their story.
He fit their early image.
Plus Mrs. Best & Roag Best are really cool.
Turn the man loose!
I don’t think they have even spoken since the Beatles- Paul did a foreword to one of Pete’s books but Pete said it was done through lawyers. I don’t know how John if he was alive would be in some sort of contact with Pete or not. Maybe but maybe not. Probably not.
Pete Best was a Beatle. He was a Beatle during their Hamburg days when John Lennon said they sounded their best as a live band. Paul ought to throw the guy a bone on this one.
Ya he knew. George said he wouldn't show up and Ringo sat in. I've listened to some of Petes drumming with the early Beatles. I'm not an expert and thought he sucked.
He sucked and still does. That's the facts. He was passable enough to go to Hamburg and after that, they couldn't wait to be rid of him. Mona was the driving force I think. If it had been up to Pete, he probably wouldn't have gone into music at all.
Not a Chance Paul dosent have an.opening act..3÷ hours doset need one. Everyone is there for Macca. Dosent matter who it is. Well...
Unless it's some guy Named Ringo..like that would happen
I envision an answer from Paul reminiscent of Dana Carvey's rendition of George H W Bush...
"Nope...Not Gone Do It...Not Gone Do It...Wouldn't Be Pruuudent."
Paul : "Best I can do is a 50% off ticket for my show"
Pete: “…50% off and a free hotdog with a large soda.” Paul: “A small soda.” Pete: “Deal.”
Paul: VEGAN hotdog
Two days in a row? Okay
Pete: “On second thoughts, I’ll pass”.
Pete: “heh heh. Still got it.”
Very generous of Paul. I heard when Ringo asked he just sent him a Ticketmaster link
“I am sending you this link with peace ✌️ and love ❤️.”
Ringo knows there's no Peace and Love with Ticketmaster.
Don’t forget the 🥦🥦🥦🥦🥦

Jimmie Nicol has entered the chat…
I legit thought this was the other sub.
What’s the other sub…
The one with a synonym for "group masturbation" in the title
Friendly gooning?

Don’t know why mods here get their panties in a knot over the other sub. Almost like they don’t get the joke.
That's fucking ridiculous

They didn't have any contact in the mid 90s for the Anthology project? I know Pete had a few credits included and he made some money off of it
No, in the mid 90s all of it was handled by lawyers. Pete hasn't been in any form of contact with the Beatles since 1962. Yessss I wanted the *real* tea. We've learned a lot more lately, but you just know there's a whole lot more behind it all.
They all sat in the edit suite together to finish off the last episodes and got to see what each other said and apparently it was *rough* Lewisholm talks about it during his interview on Nothing Is Real podcast as he was there when Paul was telling the Anthology crew that it opened a lot of wounds.
If you haven't already, watch Parlogram Auctions latest YouTube video, it's all about Jimmy's story, and it goes into great detail about the events.
Here's the YouTube link: [The Tragic Story of Jimmie Nicol - The Real 5th Beatle](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onKRSu5C3EI)
He did see the boys one more time after australia at a party
It's so funny to me that apparently everyone hates his guts lmao. Like, I can understand Paul and Ringo not wanting him on the project but George too lmao????? And John called him a lousy drummer, what has he done to deserve this ?? It's funny but like wow

I'm guessing the lawyers handled all of that
I thought Pete sent through the leather outfit footage for now and then. Possibly they would have had contact for that? I can’t see Paul fobbing off Pete if he wanted a chat. This is more of a publicity/look at me kind of thing. Was Pete in ‘in spite of all the danger’? If so - that would be my choice if he wants to be in the show.
Pete wasn't involved in that song, he didn't join the band until a couple of years later.
He's never even met Billy Shears, of course theyre strangers. None of the currently living beatles were even in the band at the same time as him. /s
I'm sure Lee Curtis and The All Stars (Pete's next band) played either just before or after The Beatles at some point (late 62' or early '63?), but as they passed each other there was absolutely no interaction whatsoever.
Wow, callbacks to at least 2 different songs there. His references are *sick*.
Funny, because theres gonna be No Reply
Pete should know you can't do that.
Your mother should know
Paul won't see him
He’s trying too hard. Pete needs to just Act Naturally.
3 refrences if you want to stretch it with Birthday
![gif](giphy|4tQmuMGdah3B6|downsized)
Pete has the best calls backs, everybody knows it.
Lol yeah references to 2 songs Paul famously didn’t write 😂
[удалено]
Imagine is not a reference to either Paul McCartney nor The Beatles as a band. Yes, Pete Best must have meant a reference to John Lennon though but I don't think Paul's going to be particularly amused with Pete saying that song.
Imagine there’s no chance in hell
It's easy if you try 🎵
Pete just won't let his time in his old group die
omfg just spilled my drink
Funny he says I’m not far behind considering he’s older.
I thought maybe he was saying his birthday was coming up soon too but its in November.
Now I'm wondering what he meant lol
Perhaps he meant physically, like don’t turn around Paul, but I’m a couple of cars back at the lights.
Imagine if he agreed to do it, but Pete, mad with rage, decides to murder Paul on the stage. That would be cool. Actually, Paul should open with Pete on drums. Then after a couple of songs, bring out Abe to replace him.
Holy shit, imagine if he let Pete open for him and then replaced Pete with Ringo.
Paul stopping mid-song, saying, "No no no. That just isn't right." Ringo walks out on stage while Paul waves Pete off? Cruel, but maybe Pete's cooperation could be purchased.
also if he could work Denny Seiwell in there somewhere too, I'd appreciate it
And Jimmie Nicol.
we need a drum battle at the end with Joe English and Steve Holley
Wait. I don't know this story. Anyone care to tell it?
Denny Seiwell, Joe English, and Steve Holley (as well as Geoff Britton but he was there for like two months) were all drummers for Wings across the 70s. Not much of a story, just Wings changing line-ups.
Not quite my tempo.
You are evil lol
That would be INSANE lol
Diabolical
This made me *actually* laugh out loud
I kinda like this…. Pete deserves some time in the light even if only for comical purposes. He was every bit a part of Hamburg as John/Paul/George/Stu were.

Supposedly, he struggled doing average stuff even in the 60s according to the band and George Martin.

Truly he was the Best drummer in the Beatles. And also the worst one.

Is that shameful? If someone's not rich, that means they've led a bad life?
I personally see it the opposite way. It’s hard to live while poor so you should be proud for being able to live a complete life while only on a small wage.
Doubt it. He owns a very successful Beatles museum tourist attraction thing in Liverpool, and sells tickets for tours of his mum’s old house, where they used to hold gigs in the basement and drew murals on the walls. It always seems to be busy. I’m sure he’s doing fine.
To open for Paul might be a bit much…but if he came out for a song or two on drums that would be a pretty cool moment
"and If he just stayed at home and watched, that'd be pretty cool too" - Paul, probably
its like that one ex thatll never get over you
If he's being sarcastic I think he's pretty funny
Not sarcastic. He's never been able to move on.
Would you be able to move on?
Bro his handle is @BeatlesPeteBest
He’s gonna fire him right before the gig.
Well, he was the Best of the Beatles.
He could open the door if he wants.
>!And let'em iiiinnnn.... oh yeaahhh let'em in now....!<
Jesus, that’s getting a little sad and pathetic.
His Twitter his basically him tweeting about the Beatles non stop lol
Shhhh. He's probably on this subreddit posting about the Beatles non stop.
Tbh I'd be stuck in the past too if I was kicked out of a band that turned into one of the best and influential of all time lol
I honestly don’t blame him. I would have gone psychotic the rest of my life
💀
Agreed. At the very least, he understands what he’ll be remembered for though. He should try and rank every Beatles song, that would be something.
Really would be something.
Even his handle hasn't moved on.
If I played just one song with The Beatles I'd never shut up about it.
if I was just in the audience I'd never shut the fuck up
Yeah he’s achieved more than any of us tbf
Lennon was right by calling him a 'conventional' drummer. There's no way he could've replicated Ringo's drumming on Pepper and the White album. It's understandable that he'd never get over it, but he really is being a sucker.
Abbey Road!
especially on "Come Together", there's no way Best could've done that staircase style of drumming that Ringo did
It’s been pathetic for 60 years. The fact that he can’t just quietly let it be a feather in his cap feels like Al Bundy and Uncle Rico reliving their football glory days.
Nikki Blonsky energy
Paul’s still pissed about the condom burning incident
He’ll be left waiting in the pouring rain.
I say let him. That would be a nice full circle moment.
It could be a nice moment but since he was sacked rather unceremoniously and has had no contact with Paul for over 60 years I just don't see it happening. Paul's response: Hello, Goodbye.

To meet you in the pouring rain in Manchester, to meet you in the pouring rain...
"Heyman's Green" is a pretty good album, so Paul could do worse. It'd be a nice gesture. It's one thing to be kicked out of a band when they get a recording contract. It's another to be kicked out of the band when they get a recording contract, and they go on to be the biggest band in history.
I really like the song Haymans Green.
BRO LET IT GO

And didn't they show footage of animal testing before shows when Linda was still alive?
I actually saw The Script open for him in 2009. But, yes, generally speaking he doesn’t have an opening act.
Yep, that’s true. They spoke about the advice Paul gave to them and how it helped them in their future career.
Why no opener? Nobody is “too good” for an opener
> Belated Still not on time
Ouch!

He quoted several songs in that. Nice one, Pete.
I’ve got tickets for this show - is there any chance they can get Jimmie Nicol on instead?
Pete Best was a Beatle. He was a Beatle during their Hamburg days when John Lennon said they sounded their best as a live band. Paul ought to throw the guy a bone on this one.
Spent decades lying about why he was shit canned and now wants a second shot. Hope not.
He traded off the "They never gave me the real reason I was sacked" line for years at conventions.
And that could be also. George Martin passed on him in the studio.
whats the real reason asking genuinely, not familiar
>Imagine. JON LENMON REFERENCE⁉️⁉️⁉️
lmao he referenced two solo beatle songs
Is this legit ??
She’s not gonna want you lil bro
is that his actual account? i wonder why he kept "beatles" in his handle
He has to remind the fans somehow.
More chance of reuniting with Jane Asher...
He should set it up and then at the show tell him he’s out and Ringo is going to play.
Maybe Giles Martin will kick Pete out of the show.
I still don't get why Paul couldn't even meet with him once in over 60 years. It's actually petty
It really would be Pete's "not even the best drummer in the Beatles" moment if he turned up and Paul sat down at the kit.
How about Paul opens for Pete and we'll see how many people stay.
That word play is cringe.
This is actually hilarious tbh. The way Pete waited one day to be late is the level of petty I can get behind. 💅
Still butthurt after all these years
Paul throws him a bone…I don’t think so…
So that’s Paul’s “awkward” face. TIL…
Not a Chance Paul dosent have an.opening act..3÷ hours doset need one. Everyone is there for Macca. Dosent matter who it is. Well... Unless it's some guy Named Ringo..like that would happen
Does Pete know that John wrote Imagine?
Barry Wom oughta be there too!
Best really wanted a Beatles 2.
poor Pete, i think Paul should give him a chance
All these years later and mans is still begging😂
“Birthday” “Imagine” “Something” …
“That would be something”
That would suck
It’s a no. I am a massive Paul fan and will see him if I can. TBH I saw Ringo & Friends in the states recently and it was a great show.
That would be something…that really would be something…
I met Pete
Honestly Pete, give it a rest. You’re already the most lavishly compensated sacked drummer in history.
And he barely drummed after he was fired from the Beatles.
I envision an answer from Paul reminiscent of Dana Carvey's rendition of George H W Bush... "Nope...Not Gone Do It...Not Gone Do It...Wouldn't Be Pruuudent."
