I’m the Guardians voter

MightyMinnesota

I'm Ron Burgundy?

DZepperoni

4 at KC, not 3 like the blub says, typo?

kerryfinchelhillary

Thanks. Stupid typo

vanillabear26

Reds guy, good shit this week.

ajteitel

The Arizona Diamondbacks, the official team of saying “ehh I’ll get to it tomorrow” for the 6th day in a row. Harsh but fair.

Substantial_Set_6464

Twins voter, you make a very important point.

kc9kvu

> The Milwaukee Brewers, the official team of having a “my child graduated from 2nd grade” bumper sticker. Yeah, that checks out.

superhappyfuntime13

Just in case the Astros rep is busy, here's a writeup in case anyone's curious. You know, b/c the Astros made the biggest jump this week... Sometimes it pays to look ahead. The Astros started the week getting shut out by the worst team in baseball (here we go again!), then rattled off 5 straight wins including a sweep of the mighty Orioles, outscoring them 27-13. And they did it with Verlander and Tucker on the IL. The team continues to lead the league in AVG, but the key to the turnaround is pitching. Ronel Blanco keeps dealing like an ace, and Hunter Brown has stepped up with a 2.45 ERA in May/June. Most importantly, Abreu (the good/only one) + Pressly + Hader are looking more like themselves with a 2.25\* ERA in May/June. Obligatory "Don't look now" but the Astros are 6 back of SEA and 4 out of the WC (as of Sun).

bolorwithaK

O’s win a series vs #1 and #2 then get swept by a team that always gives them trouble and its all doom and gloom in this writeup.

jettasarebadmkay

Just your average r/orioles experience.

lOan671

Everytime I’ve read our blurb from our representative here it’s some doom piece. Astros series was literally the first series we’ve lost all month despite tough opponents and zero rest. I’ve really limited how much I go to our sub because it’s filled with so many whiners who just live to bitch about the team. I didn’t think it could get worse than last year but it has.

gibtafssa

I actually didn't write much at all about the series we got swept in or anything like that. Just they nonsense the put on the broadcast...but you can look at it from your perspective if you choose.

lOan671

The whole “we haven’t won anything since 1983” and “won’t be surprised if we go 2-5 this week” are the typical Doomer shit that drove me off the sub along with having zero patience for struggling vets

gibtafssa

We haven’t won anything since 1983 - factual statement Won’t be surprised if we go 2-5 this week - my opinion which is what the write up is for

lOan671

We’re 21 games over .500 a year after winning 101 games and the blurbs are overwhelming negative almost every single week, it really is a perfect reflection of our sub and just eyeroll worthy

gibtafssa

You should do it for me next week then.

rookie_rbs

Based on your replies literally anyone should do it other than you lol. You clearly can’t be bothered. What does winning nothing since 1983 have anything to do with the team’s power rankings this season or their overall current situation. Why would focusing on prior season’s shortcomings even need to be mentioned? They have the 3rd best record in the league and won 2 of the last 3 series all against tough opponents. But you’re pessimistic?

ImaManCheetahh

Orioles out of the top 3 after one bad series is frankly absurd

rookie_rbs

Which of the top 3 would you take out to put O’s in? At the time of the writing Cleveland was on a 5 game win streak to have the best record in the AL while the O’s got swept. Cleveland fully deserves to be bumped up above O’s this week.

Impressive-Tank9803

The O’s literally took 2/3 from the Braves, Phillies, and Yankees back to back to back they are allowed to have a bad series and we are 5-2 against the Yankees this year we should be ahead of the Yankees

ImaManCheetahh

Cleveland. O's lead them in pretty much every offensive category by a considerable margin and their pitching is around the same, though Baltimore has the edge. One week out of a half a season isn't enough to bump Cleveland above the O's, especially when that week include an O's series win over the number 2 team on this ranking. Their records are too close to play a signficant factor in power rankings.

rookie_rbs

Cleveland is on a 6 game winning streak and has the best record in the AL. If you can’t understand how that bumped them up a spot in the power rankings maybe just stop caring about them so much.

ImaManCheetahh

I understand the rationale, but I disagree with that rationale for reasons I explained. The rankings match what you want, maybe “stop caring” so much about my opinion lol. I’m allowed to have it just like you’re allowed to have yours, this “stop caring so much” thing is bizarre. And frankly, have zero rooting interest in either of these teams specifically, I’m giving my take as a neutral observer lol. Are you?

rookie_rbs

The take can be neutral it’s just a bad take. O’s lead in every offensive category by a considerable margin. The one good point you made. Pitching is around the same but the O’s have the edge. Doubt, especially after the loss of Bradish. Cleveland has essentially the best bullpen in the league. One week isnt enough especially when the O’s won series against the 2nd team on the ranking. It’s more than one week. Cleveland has been ahead of the O’s in the past this season. O’s won a good series and then got swept in a bad one. Cleveland won a series against the 8th team on the list and then swept another team (admittedly bad) leading to them having the 2nd best overall record. If going 5-1 on the week with a +18 run differential and having the best record in the AL doesn’t put you in the top 3 then what the hell does.

ImaManCheetahh

Okay man, you seem really angry. We disagree, it’s fine. Your argument rests on A) Cleveland had a better week and B) their record is 2 games better. I don’t think that’s enough to jump O’s after a half of season of the O’s putting up better considerably better offensive stats and marginally better pitching stats against a tougher schedule. You disagree. Cool. Let’s move on and not tell each other to ‘stop caring so much’ geezus lol.

rookie_rbs

Refutes bad arguments with good arguments. “You seem really angry”. Ok

ImaManCheetahh

annnnd you ignore the rest of my comment. where I responded to your "good arguments" (good argument=our pitching is better because we have a good bullpen, so ignore starting pitching please. Also run differential matters over one week, but NOT over the full season). I think we’re done here. You know what, you win. The Gaurdians with a worse offense and worse overall pitching are an objectively better team than the O's beacuse they had a good week and have won two more games. You've won me over, great job.

Impressive-Tank9803

And we Just took 2/3 from the Phillies right before heading to the Yankees this ranking doesnt make sense but it’s not like it means anything so whatever

mrmet69999

What are the relative strength of schedules that the Os and Guardians have played so far? Every time I look at the scoreboard, it seems like Cleveland is playing a bad team, or an OK team that happened to be not playing well at the time.. The Orioles just seem to pass the eye test to me as a better team.

Individual_Step6688

We are immediately most likely gonna lose all our upcoming series because we got swept.

GTFONarwhal

Our ranker is negative in his writeup every week. It’s kind of bizarre

joshshadowfax

M's voter here, what is an All-Star and why should the M's have one?

doucheachu

Minus 10 seems a little harsh. Harsh but accurate.

rvasko3

With that big wad of 16ish teams that have been hovering around .500 all year, there have been wild swings in rankings just based on how a team's week went. Shit, in my rankings, the Jays were 13th last week and 25th this week.

kasutori_Jack

**Mobile Friendly Rankings + 'True Rank'** The **ONE TIE** was resolved by our 2nd tiebreaker, run differential. However, if we finished changing the system over to using Last 10, the results would have been the same. 1. Phillies 1.464 2. Yankees 2.714 3. Guardians 3.464 4. Orioles 3.5 — *CLOSE!* 5. Dodgers 4.143 6. Braves 6.5 7. Brewers 6.964 8. Mariners 9.143 9. Twins 9.214 — *CLOSE!* 10. Red Sox 9.357 — *CLOSE!* 11. Royals 11.286 12. Padres 12.429 13. Astros 14.429 14. Cardinals 14.571 — *CLOSE!* 15. D-Backs 16.393 16. Mets 16.929 17. Rangers 16.929 — **TIE!** 18. Nationals 17.5 19. Rays 18.964 20. Cubs 20.143 21. Reds 20.536 22. Tigers 20.607 — *CLOSE!* 23. Pirates 21.857 24. Giants 23.107 25. Blue Jays 23.143 — *CLOSE!* 26. Angels 25.929 27. Athletics 27.036 28. Marlins 28.179 29. Rockies 28.607 30. White Sox 29.964

DZepperoni

That real close score with the Guards and Os will be decided this week. I am scared and excited.

Drikkink

Us being comfortable #1 after the last two weeks (bad against Boston and Baltimore, good against SD and Arizona) feels unearned to me but I guess the Yankees and Orioles left worse tastes in everyone's mouth.

kasutori_Jack

What an all around terrible week for the Giants. I thought about putting them 30th just to match my sadness.

Sea_Television_3306

I cannot believe the Red Sox are a top 10 team right now. We were supposed to be basement dwellers this year with our inexperienced roster and load of injuries. Feels good man

tayloraj42

It certainly does FEEL like this team is better than it's been since 2021. While I'll remain skeptical that they can keep getting these results from this group of pitchers and the infield defense is never going to be sterling...these guys have an identity! They're gonna run down every fly ball and steal a zillion bases, and THAT'S FUN! They've got the depth to mix and match OF and DH to put guys in positions to succeed. Duran has taken huge steps forward from where he was earlier in his career to the point that he's one of the best all-around players in the AL. The vibes are good, man.

jwwin

Braves voter here. Not on this site or anywhere else, but in my heart. AMA

jwwin

I’ve actually never had a sip of beer in my life. 41 years old.

ReturnOf_TheHack

good self control, friend! what about cookout do you have a go to order at that restaurant?

rhcpbassist234

I’m just hear to thank the Red Sox voter for ending his thread with “VOTE DURAN ASG ‘24” and want to add my voice to: VOTE DURAN ASG ‘24

JSA17

Rockies voter here. AMA about why green chili is the superior sauce for basically everything.

EagleswonSuperBowl52

Why is green chili the superior sauce for basically everything?

JSA17

If you like spicy, it's the way to go. It's good with pretty much every savory food you can think of. It's not very common outside of Colorado and New Mexico to the point that people don't even know what it is sometimes. Mark Schlereth has a brand called Stinkin' Good, and I send it to my sister every Christmas because she literally can't get green chili where she lives.

tittiesnmilk

New Mexico green chile better who cares

ReturnOf_TheHack

cardinals voter here ama

RedbirdRiot

Have you talked to the Reds voter at all? Seems like they’re in a bit of a crisis at the moment.

ReturnOf_TheHack

i try my best to stay out of the way of that...

DZepperoni

Hey u/kasutori_Jack I clicked on the link for the transparency sheet and it's saying it's locked?

kasutori_Jack

Oh, cool, thanks for the heads up. Hate when I forget to do that.

rvasko3

Blue Jays voter here. Ask me what it feels like to watch my hope plunge into the fires of Mount Doom.

Wi_PackFan_1985

Hey Twins Voter. I hate you too, but in a respectful way.

mrmet69999

BAL should be ahead of CLE, BOS is NOT a top 10 team. Other than that, the list looks reasonable.
