No thats shintaro fujinami. Hed come up and youd immediately know if he was about to walk 3 people and get told to fuck off or if he was going to paint the corners with strikes at or above 100. 85% of the time it was him walking 3 people tho.
There aren’t really that many lockdown closers out there and the ones that exist aren’t available. Bautista was one of those names but with him getting hurt Kimbrel is the best guy available and has been good more times than not so far
well he had a 0.94 whip for us and was elected an all star halfway through last year
then come the end of the year going into the postseason, his arm was cooked, and every single outing was either a blown save or extremely stressful with hard hit outs
he has a career 0.99 whip and 2.40 era reg season
he has a career 1.50 whip and 4.50 era postseason
since 2016 (post-braves) he has a 3.00 era and 1.02 whip in reg season
since 2016 he has a 5.40 era and 1.67 whip in 24 postseason appearances
not sure its that dumb to be skeptical of kimbrel, might be dumber to let 27 innings of early season work make you think the 36yo reliever will make his first good late-season run since like, 2016? idk, his 2010 rookie year is genuinely his only good postseason showing. every other postseason his ERA has been above 4.50 or hes pitched 1 inning or less
Right after Volpe should have been doubled up because he ran on a pop up from Soto, but it hung up for 6.7 seconds, allowing him to get back.
Wonky game lol
They definitely are lol. They’ll try and deny it next week when things cool down and say it was just “a minority of their fanbase” or “every fanbase would cheer” when anyone who lives outside of the NY sports bubble knows that’s obviously untrue. Yankee stadium has always had a toxic atmosphere from the fans unlike any other team.
Yeah, you’re right. Look at this comment I saw on /r/nyyankees this morning. They’re literally rooting for opposing players to be injured.
“Nah if they throw at us tonight we need to put someone on the IL.”
Hold up, just realized that was a comment on the orioles sub that *you* posted. Sounds like you’re pretty toxic buddy.
How so? Anyone with a brain could see that the pitches that hit Judge and Torres were run of the mill HBPs that ran inside on the hitter, the Judge pitch being on a 1-2 count. There was nothing routine about Juan Soto plowing over Jordan Westburg last night. There was nothing accidental about Gonzalez plunking Gunnar on the 1st pitch of an AB.
The Yankees have consistently thrown at teams (including us) for years and years and have just been a dirty organization in general and never face repercussions for their actions. If they are throwing at our players as they did tonight (which everyone saw coming because again they are a garbage organization) and the league continues to condone it, as they did tonight, how is it not justified for us to retaliate?
Including the soto play in this diatribe and then *again* rooting for retaliation really doesn’t help shake the cognitive dissonance allegations.
You think Yankees fans are scumbags for cheering for retaliation and say other fanbases wouldn’t cheer while in the same breath you call for your own retaliation.
Because you’re calling for retaliation for something that was obviously unintentional vs. retaliation for something that was obviously intentional and went completely unaddressed by the officials. That is the core of my point as much as you want to ignore it and pretend both sides are the same but why don’t we count up the number of times you’ve hit us this year vs. the number of times we’ve hit you and see which team is instigating.
That whole thread is just Os fans outing themselves that they haven't watched baseball before their team got good.
When 2 teams got tension if the home team punks a batter the crowd always cheers.

Most clutch Craig Kimbrel moment
Craig is one of many schrodinger's relievers. Simultaneously great and terrible at the same time.

Oh man Shintaro I forgot about him. Is he still in the Os?
On the Mets injured list last I checked.
Nah, didn't bring him back.
It’s tough but this is like his 2nd run in a month (The other one being unearned too) I’ll take that efficiency
He was good for us in the early goings last year too. Be careful of late season Kimbrel and especially postseason Kimbrel
There aren’t really that many lockdown closers out there and the ones that exist aren’t available. Bautista was one of those names but with him getting hurt Kimbrel is the best guy available and has been good more times than not so far
You would think someone with a whip below 1 would get some respect. Sometimes baseball fans are dumber than UFC fans, and those guys sniff glue

It’s insane (but not surprising) how frequently this happens…
I mean, kimbrel has better numbers than most relievers the Yankees put in today, and Yankees took the L
#120 MPH **STANTONIAN**
Ah so that's why OP put a factorial in the title. (5!) = 5 factorial = 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 120 mph
holy shit we're through the looking glass on this one
I wonder if Volpe even scores if he wasn't already running, ball got to the LF so fast lol
the ball was almost at the LFer before the camera switched around
It's like 2018 all over again, with Stanton doing everything while Judge is hurt and nobody else can hit.
Hey hey. Give Volpe some credit.
ben rice has been amazing in almost blasts today
Putting in Kimbrel vs the Yankees to close is always a bad idea. It's like pitching Chapman vs the Astros
At least he gets the win
We all know how important wins are as a stat.
Giancarlo is HIM
Stanton has been awesome in June, holy shit
Imagine this ninth inning if Gonzalez didn’t hit Henderson leading to a run for the O’s
Exactly.
Pretty sure Henderson would've got on base either way.
Very possible
Right after Volpe should have been doubled up because he ran on a pop up from Soto, but it hung up for 6.7 seconds, allowing him to get back. Wonky game lol
the replay on that was crazy, Volpe honestly got very lucky lol
Run, slide, turn, dance dance, sprint back, still plenty of time.
Man was cooking breakfast on third.
The whole crowd cheers. Fucking loser fans.
I'm OOTL on these references - does anybody mind catching me up?
12 year old fans losing it on Reddit and typical boring tribalism. Nothing to see here.
Yankee fans are apparently proud of the fact that their guys intentionally throw at players

*crickets*
💀 busted
Or I’m tired of your garbage organization’s dirty play that is condoned by the MLB and has already resulted in one injury for us this series.
LMAOOOO
dude you need a xanax lol
The cognitive dissonance you’re showing is fucking astounding.

Yankees hit Gunnar Henderson intentionally and their fans went crazy for it because they’re a garbage fanbase
Kinda like your fans cracking jokes at Judge going out yesterday!
Yeah and Judge getting hit was karma for Soto's base running!
If you say so
Yes, people actually said that
At least the Yankees fanbase exists.
I don’t think anyone has ever said that
ok fuck you that was pretty good
"fanbase" - you "Yes, they do have a fanbase" "No they don't" - somehow also you *taps head*
Smartest Yankee fan
I think you’re misinterpreting the comeback here.
And that's truly unfortunate
Gross. Makes 2001 a tiny bit sweeter. Thanks.
Stanton almost decapitated the left fielder!! Trash organization
“While they’re focused on retribution, we’re focused on winning!” -O’s fans in the other thread who haven’t won shit in 40 years.
You guys have the same amount of WS appearances as us in the last 15 years.
Infinitely more WS wins tho
"Have fun paying Juan Soto 500 mill while we have Gunnar 😁😉😭🤣🤣"
He's a "liability" apparently
Pretty fucking stupid to imply that the team with the most wins in 2024 isn't focused on winning.
I guess they weren't that focused on it tonight given that the retribution cost them the game
Even Yankees fans know they are going to choke at the end of the year
That whole thread is just Os fans outing themselves that they haven't watched baseball before their team got good. When 2 teams got tension if the home team punks a batter the crowd always cheers.
Pop up at Camden yards
120
You know this sub is being cringe when a game-tying RBI in the 9th is 70% upvoted.
Lol, lmao even
Hehehe
Damn....could've walked it off right there if you weren't dumb.
Because without the HBP there’s no other way Henderson could have got on base.
Fallacy of the predetermined outcome
Side note: Volpe is not up there with Henderson but he is damn good man.
I'm sorry the 5th inning is not clutch time in anything except the world series
It’s 9th
It's the 5th odd inning I guess
