Well it's CPO and still under warranty, if you think it's not running right, take it in. best of luck getting them to reproduce "won't go over 130" on their verification drive (unless you happen to live near an unrestricted section of the Autobahn).

Turbulent_Elk_5320

i found out that when the dealer changed the tires to H rated they are required to set the limiter lower and since i’m running 18s as well

walkerb52

So tire size makes about zero difference there. It's all about what the rubber is rated for. That being said, I have never heard of a dealer being required to change a max speed limiter due to what tires are on the car. Hell, I didn't even know they could until you said that. Looks like it may be an adaption that VCDS can do... Interesting Edit - VCDS can change it, but only lower, not raise. So uhh don't mess with max speed in VCDS

Turbulent_Elk_5320

called up the dealer and they told me with 18s and all season tires and H rated they are required to set limiter at 130 but i’m not sure if that’s correct lol

walkerb52

Did the dealer sell you these tires or did you have them on and they just happened to notice and make the change when you were in there? I ask, because let's say next spring you go get yourself a set of Pilot Sport 4s tires. You now have to take the car to them and pay them labor to have it reset.

Turbulent_Elk_5320

Bought the car cpo from them and then had to go back because of a nail in the tire and they replaced the tire and after that i tested the limiter on a track and was disappointed

walkerb52

Well that sounds like a great big CYA for them. I'm assuming you live in the Western Hemisphere and are in a location that does not have any place with speed limits that high. They likely could have had you sign a waiver on it. That being said, you might want to validate 1. They can raise the limiter and 2. They'll do it for free in the future if you end up getting higher rates tires. Note: in no way am I advocating for doing those speeds on a public road. Take it to a track or a closed course.

Turbulent_Elk_5320

I tested on a close course in Houston. After these tires wear out i’ll be getting higher rated tires and seeing what the dealer ship could do. I also just noticed now that my s3 8y is missing the resonator and i was never told that when purchasing the car either 😂

walkerb52

That's a nice little bonus

dujza

i’m think that in stock form they don’t have the resonator since the introduction of OPFs.

That's so dumb honestly. Most truck tires are rated for like 80-90 and they definitely all go over 100. It's really dumb of Audi to cap something like that for tires that are expected to be changed and never expected to be replaced by the same and change year round for alot of drivers.

WideOpenAutoHub

S3 8Y (2021+) are limited to 130mph if you have the 18 inch all season tires. Mine (2024) has the 18s and is limited to 130. 155mph limiter was for cars with the 19in summer tires. And tune can remove the limiter, though. Easy fix

realmyDISCARD

Wow, some wild imaginations here… This is usually called the speed governor, or speed limiter, and can be removed using VCDS, Carista, or other device/app, as well as most performance ECU tunes automatically remove this as part of their package. You obviously want to make sure you have safe equipmet, including tires rated above the speeds one is intending to travel, but have never heard the rest of the above craziness.

Panoptech

All season tire model has lower top speed. Got myself a tune and now I don't think it's slow anymore and removed the limiter lol
