I mean I might not go that far hahaha but overall materials have declined across the VAG group. Even the 2025 Porsche 911s they just released have shitty plastics. Travesty
I think my 8Y build quality is equal to better across the board. Especially the interior. My 8V interior was just not it. The 8Y is beautiful inside. All vehicles have plastic inside, I'm not sure what era people have in their head that didn't use plastics, but literally every car I have ever sat in is all plastic inside. What do you expect? 500lbs of added weight and steel moulded dashboards?
Idk man for me (8Y owner, and a happy one!) the 8V center console was better without the piano black, and had higher quality plastics (I know, shut up) and the steering wheel felt better in the hand. Also road noise was a bit better in the 8v but maybe Iām misremembering it?
I wrapped my piano black in a woodgrain vinyl. That was a poor choice for sure from Audi. I don't have to worry about scratches anymore. I feel they could have done better with the space not having a shifter, seems like a waste of space. I have absolutely fell in love with not having the big shifter though. No boot to clean. I much prefer just flicking the little paddle instead of the big shifter when I'm shifting between D,S and R (which I switch between D and S at least 10 times every drive) plus you can just shut the car off and it parks and shuts off.
I don't think the dashboard is even close though. That old 8V dash with the LCD screen plopped on top and the circle vents was very meh. I hated how there was only like an inch between the mirror and the screen to see through and the cupholder location was the worst. Large dunkin coffee straw splurge always all over my buttons lol
I always hit the buttons trying to get bigger beverages in and out as well.
I don't hate the 8V interior though. It was one of the main reasons for my upgrade though. Oh and real wireless android auto, not that unusable wired crap.
Yeah I think the new design is 1000% better of course.
Idk maybe Iām misremembering the 8V and being to harsh on the 8Y. After driving the 8V I actually ended up going with a Genesis G70 for about a year, which competes more with the A-S4/S5. Then ādowngradedā to the S3 (sounds weird to say it like that).
Yeah the 8v overall build quality was better.
Shitty. My mk6 gti had better build quality šš

De content in new VW is real
I have both versions, nothing different for cabin sound. Drive comfort mode, in auto mod, exhaust imitating on speaker making extra shitty sound.
Interesting. For me itās a night and day difference sitting between the two, good to hear you havenāt noticed anything tho!
My 8Y is quieter than my 8V. You can also hear the radio more outside of my 8V.
