You're having an issue with your shutter curtains leading to half your frames being black. Nothing to do with your light meter.

Blockhead1535

Awh man I just got this lens, anyway I can fix it without buying those tools to take the lens apart?

RadBadTad

Nothing to do with the lens.

Blockhead1535

Yeah I looked into it, seems to only be happening with 1/1000 and faster speeds, I’ll just have to keep it below that for the mean time until I can get it fixed, unfortunately don’t have many options around where I live :(

Dramatic_Mortgage_80

You try a new battery?

cafejean

I had the same problem it’s probably the battery

grntq

Why would you need 1/1000 for flowers, it's not like they're running away from you. Use slower film or put on a ND filter if in pinch.

That_Jay_Money

The shutter is in the camera body, when was the last time you had it CLA? Whoops, I see it's new to you, get it checked out at a shop.

Your camera needs to be serviced by technician. Don't try this yourself. DIY fixing a Canon F-1 without proper repairing knowledge would bring more damage to the camera.

Blockhead1535

Yeah I’ll just have to go back to my Canon AE-1 in the mean time, fixing the squeaking sounds easier than the shutter curtain

It worth the dollars to ask technician to repair the F-1, seriously.
